Any way to disable alerts from AI characters in online version?

When I play online, i don't want to be bothered by calls from Simeon and other jokers asking me to steal cars for them and so on. If I want to carry out missions for fictional people I will just play in single player mode. Maybe it's just me...if I'm online, it means I want to play co-op or against other real humans. I find the constant phone calls asking me to carry out tasks irritating.

Nope. Hopefully R* will patch it in later. There is a sleep option in singleplayer that disables phone alerts, but they took it out for the online mode. Don't know why. You'd think they would let you turn off the alerts after the amount of complaints in GTA4 about phone calls.

They never ask you to do a favor for them by calling. They text you, instead. You can always cancel the call anyway.

I always reject them but sometimes they call at exactly the wrong time. I was coming up to a corner in Free Roam yesterday and as soon as I was about to brake, Ron call and I hold A to brake but it answers the call instead, I went into a river. That call cost me $10k.

I would have thought after the negative feedback on GTA IV regarding the phone calls, they would have allowed us to turn our phone off. Why does Ron keep calling telling me to get crates when I've got them before, Lester keeps calling asking me if I want to put a bounty on someone when I've done that a thousand times and Martin with the gang attacks. It's unnecessary.

Use the left trigger to brake then? Not that hard.

It's more annoying when your running from someone and the phone comes up while your tapping A. Happens nearly once a day resulting in a death and irate cursing everytime.

No it's not hard but I was already at the turn and the left trigger is less effective as it's a different brake.

This right now to me is issue #1. Nothing causes me more frustration than that f*cking phone ringing when I am in free roam and throwing down against a bunch of hellbent players trying to shoot me. I'd estimate that a good 25% of my deaths, unnecessary deaths, are caused by the NPC's calling me to remind to do their missions which I've already done and have ZERO desire to do again.

I also don't need a f*cking phone call from Lester concerning Bounties, Lamar about the Mugger or Merryweather when their Mercs kill or don't kill a single digit rank player.

But then why are you sending mercs after single digit ranked players?

I seriously doubt that it was completely impossible for you to save your car by braking and then making a hard turn left or right. Were you driving a Cheetah up in those narrow mountain roads or something?

I am teacher in the school of hard knocks. I have a PHD in "Bad Ass".

It is best to send mercs after single digit rank players so that they know the risks of playing GTA Online. I am doing them the ultimate friendly player thing to do, educate them on the perils of other players using the phone to call in the Mugger and Mercs. Bounties are pretty straight forward but even tonight I met a guy who was rank 199 and they didn't know how to call Lamar to send the Mugger. They kept messaging me over and over asking me how do send the mugger so I just sent them cryptic messages and sent 3 more muggers until they left the lobby.

If you send mercs after high rank players it's a waste of money because most of them can easily dispatch the 3 waves of Mercs that usually attack. It is also a gesture of love to send mercs after low rank players so that they have an opportunity to get a Merryweather Jeep into their garage.

It's what I would want if I was a low rank player once again.
