Vice City Crockett
Mod Status: Complete Download link: http://www.gta4-mods.com/vehicles/2005-dodge-grand-caravan-f25308 Original topic: Hello everyone, Recently I've been trying to mod the GTA IV Minivan. One of the changes I've been attempting is to make the rear doors slide open like its real counterpart, the Dodge Caravan. When the door is opened, it looks like this: Does anyone know how to do this? I know it has been accomplished before on mods, such as the GMC Vandura: Vandura mod: [http://www.gta4-mods.com/vehicles/1983-gmc-vandura-g-1500-tuned-epm-f21658] Thank you, - V.C.C. Bonnano
Ask Cromchen, he is pretty good dealing with default vehicles: http://www.gta4-mods.com/misc/sultan-r-s-f25201 Vice City Crockett
Vice City Crockett
Ask Cromchen, he is pretty good dealing with default vehicles: http://www.gta4-mods.com/misc/sultan-r-s-f25201 Okay, thanks Bonnano! I've spoken to Cromchen in the past and I know that he has published a few Cabby mods, but none with the sliding doors. Hopefully he'll have some solution. Do you happen to know if he also has an account here on GTAForums? ------ If I can get this problem resolved, you'll probably see an 05' Dodge Caravan mod pop up soon as a replacement for the Minivan and Cabby. EDIT: Here's a little picture showing some proof of my work so far. This image is from about the week ago of the modifications I've made to the front of the car. The rest of the body is done as of now, but I don't want to spoil too much. Edited December 18, 2013 by Vice City Crockett Bonnano

Vice City Crockett
Okay, thank you Cromchen! I'll see if I can contact monster875. EDIT: No need, looks like I solved the problem. The doors now slide open pretty well! If I can get the Cabby version done soon, I may post it for download on GTA4-mods. Vice City Crockett
Great news, the Minivan is complete! [At least for a Beta release]I'm hoping to have it and the Cabby uploaded by tonight and available for download tomorrow; however, I wanted to ask of your opinion(s).Which wheel should I use on the cabby? I used the Comet wheel on the Minivan because it's closer to the Dodge Caravan wheel. Meanwhile, the Cabby wheel resembles a Chrysler Town & Country wheel, not the Dodge Caravan's.If I don't get a reply soon, I'll just use the Cabby wheel. Happy holidays! Murray Bunyan
How did you do the sliding doors? I apologize if it's already stated in this thread, would you kindly direct me to it? Vice City Crockett
How did you do the sliding doors? I apologize is it's already stated in this thread, would you kindly direct me to it? Hi Murray, I did not state it in this thread yet, but what I did was take the two nodes, door_dside_r and door_pside_r and flip them. What I mean by this is that I made all of the right rear door (dside) models correspond to the left door's node (door_pside_r) and vice-versa for the left door's models (pside). Once I did that, I decreased the angle to around 20 degrees and moved the nodes back to the rear end of the doors. Finally, I moved the nodes outward (door_pside_r to the right and door_dside_r to the left) until the doors slid near perfectly. After this, I changed the names of the nodes so they corresponded correctly to the modeled parts (door_pside_r became door_dside_r) and then made the modeled parts children of their corresponding nodes. I can attempt to post some pictures soon if you need a visual. Murray Bunyan

RoadRunner71
Pretty nice mod! This was one of these vehicles I forever waited for while everyone was just converting Ferraris and Lamborginis from other games, over and over. Respect Vice City Crockett
Vice City Crockett
Pretty nice mod! This was one of these vehicles I forever waited for while everyone was just converting Ferraris and Lamborginis from other games, over and over. Respect Thanks a lot! I felt exactly the same way, so I started learning how to use Zmodeler to model and texture. Given time, I was finally able to get around to this project. I'm attempting to make some other cars, such as Robocop's Taurus and the 91' Lexus LS400, and I also have a few other mid-end quality car projects in mind, like the Crown Vic. I'm a bit tired of all the high-end vehicles because of how much memory the game eats up to load them all. EDIT: While modeling it, I also wanted to do it right. I would have released it a little earlier, but I wanted it to have sliding doors. Without them, it just didn't feel right to me. RoadRunner71
If you do the Robocop Taurus I hope you can release also a regular civil version Vice City Crockett
Vice City Crockett
If you do the Robocop Taurus I hope you can release also a regular civil version No worries, I haven't forgotten about that. The challenge is getting the model done first though. It will most likely be standard GTA IV quality, not too high-end.
RoadRunner71
Well, less risk of taxi bug, I guess. Vice City Crockett
