Kiffster
I think I only saw him in Troy, which was great, and his role as King whoever was pretty good. Don't think I've ever seen any of his other movies.

Not only is he great in it, but it is, in my opinion the most beautifully shot film ever.

I've never really been into old movies that much but I have heard a lot of good stuff about Lawrence of Arabia over the years. Every time it's on tv I just skip over it lol. Chances are there will be a lot of Peter O'Toole movies coming up (which is usually the case when a well known actor dies), so I'll be sure to watch it this time... FirstLadyofGTA
I agree. His talent coupled with his voice and those piercing blue eyes made for me an actor that I couldn't ignore, couldn't take my eyes off of (and I'm not a big movie/TV person). Lawrence of Arabia was of course brilliant and those images/scenes of a white man enveloping himself in Middle Eastern cultural dress and politics is what I remember the most when I think of him. However even in old age I still found him captivating. I really liked him as Pope Paul III in The Tudors (one of my favorite TV series ever). He had the perfect authoritative presence and voice for that role and so many others he did.
arsenal_fan
We've lost one of the greatest actors in the history of film. and he never even won a single Academy award. f*cking bullsh*t. It was a shame he was against Gregory Peck for Kill a Mocking Bird when he was nominated for Laurence of Arabia, any other year he would of won it hands down for that film. The Academy Awards are a joke anyway, Stanley Kubrick never won an Oscar either and he is arguably the best director of all time.
