Content Creator: Tips, Tricks and Best Practices for Race Creation

Creating this thread so people can share tips, tricks, and knowledge they've learned that applies to race creation. I'll start off with a couple.

 

Checkpoint management:

 

-If your land race isn't off road, make sure your checkpoints follow the road's path with respect to your route. Seems like commen sense but I've run several custom races where checkpoint do things like point straight, only to have the road curve off to the right or left.

 

-Watch the checkpoint distance, especially on straightaways. This is a common issue. This will cause frustration as racers spawn a significant distance back because there's a huge gap between checkpoints.

 

-On turns, watch the checkpoint distance from the corner. If you want racers to be able to cut the corner to any degree, you often have to place the checkpoint closer to the inside of the turn rather than centering the checkpoint in the middle of the turn.
