Tchuck 3,435
These sanctions only ever serve to cripple the population, imo, in an attempt to sow unrest to try and press the government into doing something. Meanwhile the people at the top continue life like normal. They may have to spend a bit more for the same lifestyle, to make up for the black market costs. But other than that? Business as usual. Have these sanctions ever worked?
Shyabang Shyabang 340
From what we can see of the military parade, Kim obtained new weapons and military vehicles that he didn't have just a year ago. He's gaining help both financially and on technology from outside at an unprecedented level. Or maybe he stole the technology. There's no way that North Korea developed those large ICBMs on its own. I'm aware of the black market and his secret international trading and businesses abroad, but I don't think only those can fund all the new military vehicles and ICBMs that he gained just this year. (Btw, the black market inside North Korea is mostly businesses being done between the civilians while hiding it from the government). And while the Chinese version of the humvee was in the parade, Kim's new tanks are clearly not Chinese nor are they Russian. Just a year ago, North Korea mainly showed outdated Soviet era vehicles or locally upgraded a bit versions of it. Kim is restricting more strongly the black market that brings in goods from China, and North Korea is blocking its borders from any outsiders because of the pandemic. And the U.S. froze Kim's secret bank accounts outside of North Korea. These all make me wonder how Kim can have all of those new modern military stuff so quickly. Even when stealing and starving his own people, there's no way that North Korea's economy alone can afford such an advanced and expensive missiles and military vehicles program. sivispacem 21,596
Ballistic missile technology has been shared from places like Iran. Both countries covertly share designs and jointly develop munitions. Some has historically also from China and Russia but increasing amounts are supported by espionage against US and European defence contractors.

But these below look like US Strykers. It seems that North Korea stole this technology.
