He originally quoted the OP, which made his post make sense.

It's been confirmed that we will in fact be able to visit NY, so there is a reason for the different handling and why they spent time on it.

Proof or GTFO.

I think we will get a snow DLC, my theory is, the Los Santos mechanic say something along the lines "you'll do good in the snow if you're into that". Now why would he bring that up if the area is mostly dry and sandy?

Mmm, thanks, AlienTwo. So will online be getting this town legit at some point? It's quite exciting to think that R* can just keep adding extra islands to the map.

We don't know, there is a good deal of debate on that, including "confirmed" reports both way... :rol:

I hope so, it looks like the town is fairly well built (Ammu-nation and a shop to rob)so there is hoping... I would still check it out ASAP, it might get patched and fall away into memory alone.

I think I just got a bit dumber reading this topic.

Then, all you have to do is to find Dumb, and the 2 of you can do a re-make of the movie: Dumb & Dumber,

If you haven't seen it, watch it, then you can also see driving A Lamborghini on Snow! LOL

:santa:

I hope they make a normal way to get there, I was finally able to drift in GTA V, that's a evolution for you right there.

You absolutely were going too fast for conditions or your skill level.

If you were going one mile an hour, would you have crashed?

There is obviously a slower speed you could have been going and not crashed, if you disagree then you should not have been driving in the first place, especially with a baby in the car.

Driving on snow is unpredictable, it can be fun for some (like me) but keeping in mind of it's unpredictability, it can be extremely dangerous. It also depends if salt has been spread on the road surface.

and on rising or dropping temperature. If the initial snow fall has melted and it's still snowing, snow tires are not much help if that initial snow has frozen due to dropping temperature, therefore, it's like driving on ice, not snow and you have no control of the vehicle, no matter how slow you drive. If driving on thick snow, you might have some control with good snow tires, but only if the temperature is rising (warmer) and that initial snow is melted into water.

The road's condition are never the same throughout, you may have grip one moment and then slip sliding the next.

Black ice, is so called, because the roads are black and the ice layer is so thin that just blends in with the road's color.

If you look here: https://encrypted.google.com/search?tbm=isch&q=studded%20tires&tbs=imgo:1 you will see what's needed on a vehicle, as to help get some grip on ice/snow. (only allowed in some countries/states/etc...).

Remember, you can never be too careful when driving on snow/ice.

Mother Nature will always have the upper hand over us.

Now, back to you, R*, when will we be getting "Not Yankmytonsils" Online? You stole my Rancher's XL, so you can add them as a Free N-Y DLC, right? :beerhat:

North Yanktown Free DLC!

I'd rather have the Snow Effect, than the Beach Bum Boring Defect! If you have more brains, you could've given people a Choice DLC, Beach Dumb or North Yanktooown.

You get my slidy drift? :miranda:

I'm waiting ....... you better hurry .........

Living in the Midwest...I love driving in snow.

driving in the the snow is horrible. in a videogame, sure.

They never get it right in video games. It's great fun in real life though.

great fun?

I f*cking hate it

first you have stand out there in the f*cking cold clearing your windows while freezing your hands off

than when you get in the steering wheel seems even colder and than you have to drive like 10 miles an hour sliding all over the place

sure it's fun on an empty parking lot but if you actually have to be somewhere it's f*cking awefull if you ask me.

OP realizes that cars handle different in the snow. OP asks why they spent time on translating this into the game, because you only spend about 30 seconds driving in North Yankton during the story.

Everyone calls OP an idiot for asking a question that he didn't really ask.

Quality topic.

I'm very confused. I haven't been on for a couple of days. Have they added snow??

Wake up and smell the .... yellow snow!

If you read a few posts, perhaps it might click in your sleepy brain that we're talking about North Yankton (Lundendork) as from the Prologue Mission (first mission of the game).

Capisc?

Yes, there will be a N-Y DLC, including:

New Upgrades Spiked/studded tires, snow plow attachment (for pick up trucks/suv)... more ...

New Weapons: Shovel, ice pick, and flamethrower, (for a nice melting snow/ice effect) ... more ...

New Vehicles: Rancher XL, N-Y Police Cruiser (white), Snow Asea, Bulldozer snowplow, and ..... Snowmobiles-AKA-Sky Doo's .....

New Clothes: ..... (no fur coats etc...).

New Missions: .... Snow Drifted, Ice Capped, Deep Freeze, Big Melt Down, Popsicle or Ice Cream, ...more ...

New Characters/animals: ......Big Foot, Wolves/pack, Polar Bear, Seals, Penguins, ....more ...

New Boats: Ice Breaker ...

And a few more ... little surprises. :monocle:

A little bird told me so. :r*:

Wait and see
