It's been confirmed that we will in fact be able to visit NY, so there is a reason for the different handling and why they spent time on it.

Its diffrent to drive on snow then gras, you also walk diffrent in heavy snow.. why? why did they lay time on this when you are not there so mutch? i mean, why couldt they just do the handling in cars like it was gras? its slidy..

maybe we get snow later in game?

Because North Yankton was the opening sequence of the game. It's their only chance to make a great first impression, and it is something developers all over take very seriously.

If the first 10 minutes of gameplay are lame, chances are a portion of your players are just gonna stop playing right there and then, or at the very least hold your game in bad regards to start off with. Really bad with reviewers who generally base their review on their first couple of hours ingame.

So yes, even if North Yankton is barely used in the game, it was Rockstar's introduction to GTAV. It had to be good, and yes that involves walking in the snow :p

Who in their right mind, is going to spend so much money on a game only to put it down within 10 minutes?

obviously those who don't understand the value of money.

I'd like to know where too as there is nothing on the news section and it would normally be buzzing with news like that.

You absolutely were going too fast for conditions or your skill level.

If you were going one mile an hour, would you have crashed?

There is obviously a slower speed you could have been going and not crashed, if you disagree then you should not have been driving in the first place, especially with a baby in the car.

You missed the point, that would be an excellent section to show to reviewers and to contrast with the rest of the world. It certainly would be worth the money as positive reviews would further their bottom line, where as the opinions of individual gamers doesn't mean sh*t.

Assuming much?

Did I say I crashed? I said I slipped out in to a junction.

You haven't got a clue about my skill level, or the conditions and as I said it was down hill. If it's slippy and you're down hill, there is much you can do in terms of control. If you don't know this, then you're clearly not a driver and therefore can pass no judgement.

Anyway, back on topic eh?

I do have a clue as to your skill level because I am reading what you have written. No assumptions by me, just facts.

You are clearly an idiot and one not to accept criticism which is why you will always be an ignorant douche.

As I said, If you were going 1 mile an hour you would not have crashed.

It is your fault that you couldn't figure out the safest maximum speed or at least realize the conditions were too severe for you to handle under any circumstances.

If he was going 1 mile per hour the person behind him would have slammed into him. You know, crash into him. Just sayin'

I don't care mate to be honest. I haven't got time for people like him.

Suggesting you drive 1mph, he obviously doesn't drive himself, because he wouldn't make such an idiotic statements.

I never suggested you drive 1 MPH.

Reading comprehension is your first issue.

Taking constructive criticism is your second.

Lol, he just sent me a PM calling me an ignorant tool. He says he's 43 as well. 43 years old's are a lot more grown up than that. I think he's a little upset bless him.

Can't even be bothered to report him. I'll just be the bigger person. :D

A former Leo? How the hell did you change your sign? I would LOVE to get rid of this cancer if I had a chance... maybe take that open spot in Leo, if it hasn't been filled yet.

Unless... you know that crazy sh*t a few years ago was a hoax, right?

It's because they are making North Yan. DLC (Obviously, they made new animations and such for it and ported it over to MP, so...yeah) and as someone living in the north where winters are all snow shovels I can confirm driving the snow is different than regular road.

Have you ever driven on snow? It can be very slidy/slippery, since there can be ice build up under the snow and driving on ice is: Slidy!

Been driving on snow for a few hours today, since there was a Snow Storm here.

Slip, sliding away......

Go to LCS and install Spiked Tires (made for driving on ice/snow) LOL :bbq:

Just in case that wasn't a joke, LEO is Law Enforcement Officer.

35 and I agree, if you were sliding on icy roads you were not traveling at safe speeds or were going too fast for your skill level.

Sorry, that's just the way it is.

Why are all law enforcement agents "officers", even the patrolmen, corporals and sergeants?

I think movement in the snow is the same as mud

I was on the shore today and noticed that, it is the same.

Living in the Midwest...I love driving in snow.

driving in the the snow is horrible. in a videogame, sure.

L2drive?

Seriously though, if you are commuting home from work in traffic then yes, snow is terrible. But if it's a Saturday afternoon and you are out on less populated roads with nowhere to be and no female in the passenger seat yelling at you to quit it, you should be able to enjoy swinging the rear end around a bit.

If it's snowing out and I don't have to be outside for any reason, I'm going to do the sane thing and stay inside. That just sounds silly. "HEY IT'S SNOWING, I'MMA GET MUH CAR AND DRIVE ON THE ROAD, WOO V-TEC JUST KICKED IN 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS".

I'm not trying to insult you, it's your own choice but I just wouldn't risk it with all the other kinds of drivers we have out there. As much as I would love to have my car land in a ditch or to get involved in one of those 60 car highway pileups, no thanks. I have driven in the snow at a safe pace and it wasn't that bad. I just don't see how I would enjoy it in recreation.

IMO, fog is worse than snow in terms of danger.

http://www.roanoke.com/insidethewreckage

Been on this part of the highway several times. The wreck they discuss happened in the same place where I've been completely overtaken by fog. I couldn't even seen the front of my car, it was a horrible feeling.

G_Masta_Phunk

OP (who was not asking if slow was slippery but why add the extra feature for a small portion of the game)

I dont know why they added this feature into the North Y. part of the story... its very small but honestly, I think Rock star wanted to have a complete game and it would not be complete if the North Y part was half assed.... like wtf? just have it like grass? why would Rock Star want to have a detailed game then you do that one mission in North Y and it looks like sh*t and drives like you are not on snow at all...

ALSO if they didnt add all these details to that small part of the game people would be bitching that the North Y. mission made no sense.... like what if they didnt put any effort into it and made it a sort of linear mission with a back drop and no added physics.... you would feel sort of cheated no?

ALSO I drive a Subaru WRX with a outback wagon..... I live in Colorado... WHEN IT SNOWS I LOVE FISH TAILING AROUND TOWN.... to all those pussies who "stay in when it snows" you need to man up, get some snow tires and an all wheel drive whip and have some fun.... Hell me having fun in my capable AWD whip is more safe than the idiot driving the rear wheel drive whatever and spinning out just trying to maintain a strait line.....

It doesnt take long to lower a couple numbers to make it slippy, I doubt they spent more than an hour on it.
