So why didn't anyone care about Ryder? [Spoilers]

I tried to put this in the Eazy-E topic but it's locked but this post does pertain to Ryder.

I don't think you can ignore your first feeling when you see Ryder that he looks like E. It is also a little off-putting that Ryder turned out to be such a traitorous character especially if you were an N.W.A. or Eazy-E fan. Perhaps it's best to console yourself by considering Ryder a cheap Eazy-E wannabe.

That comment that Cesar makes about Ryder trying to bang Kendl sounds like it has a 'rapey' aspect to it.

About Tupac, if you go back to the Ryder mission, you can see a cartoon picture of a guy who looks a lot like Pac standing next to a bull terrier. Also, when I first saw OG-Loc, he reminded me of Ja Rule. I read in that amazing walkthrough done by Glenster that it might have been deliberate as Rockstar originally want 50cent to voice CJ and at the time they were feuding. Also, both OG-Loc's and Ja Rule's first name is Jeffrey.

Idk to me when Ryder came into the picture something seemed off from the get go. But as the story progressed, he became even more shady. I really didn't like him at all either...Carl may have been whiny, Ryder took it to a whole new level. I couldn't wait to kill him and was glad we got that option. Would've been better if killing him was better then it originally was.

What most of these people fail to realize is that Ryder wasn't even originally gonna become a traitor. But since R* didn't know what to do with him, they made him betray the MC just like Big Smoke did. I honestly believe that the storyline would've been better if Smoke was the only traitor, because CJ's so upset with his childhood friend betraying him and he completely ignores his other childhood friend. I think that CJ and Ryder working together in the Badlands and San Fierro (along with Cesar of course) would've been epic. To me, Ryder had the best personality of the whole game and the beginning of the story would've been dull as hell if he wasn't around.

^ because pretty much MOST of the people on this forum, SA section from what i see anyway, say that his death wasnt planned till later on as his death sucked and he was such a good character yada yada. So this makes us think "was he really gonna die?" Ect.

Now ive said this, and after reading loads of post about why they had to kill him, i just had a thought,

What if they put RYDER in later and thought of him as a "side"(not as in see them once or twice then gone, a big side character) character? So if he was a side character but was in a couple of missions (which when you look at it not much) so they HAD to get rid of him just for the reason of clearing up his part of the story?

Ok the most of what i put will be "not thought babble" but thats what i think of Ryder's sitiuation.

'Because he a busta, a straight busta'.

I do agree that his death felt kind of cheap. I feel that there could have been a couple more missions involving him.

Cheers.

In the beginning parts of the game, there's no evidence that Ryder would betray. Whereas Smoke? That guy was fishy right from the start. Being overly nice to CJ, talking to Tenpenny in some mission beginning cutscenes. The biggest evidence was in the Drive-Thru mission, where Ryder SHOOTS at the Ballas whereas Smoke DOESN'T.

This itself makes it clear that Ryder's betrayal was an AFTERTHOUGT put in by R*.

This. Also the fact that he was in CJ's house when CJ came back to Los Santos. What was he doing there?

Exactly. Most of these people fail to realize that based on his personality, there is no way in hell that Ryder would betray the GSF on his own since he was much more passionate of the gang than Smoke ever was. If Ryder was going to betray the gang, he had to have someone else on his side too, and who other than Smoke? Ryder's betrayal was definitely an afterthought.

This was also one of the unexplained parts. But I think he was there to take CJ to the graveyard. I meao Sweet must have been hit pretty hard by his mom's death, he must have left for the burial straight after calling CJ.

Pier 69 dialog after Carl does for Ryder:

CESAR says, "f*cking midget deserved it, eh.

Little asshole tried to bang your sister, you know that?"

Does not imply rape. He could have just hit on her...

Didn't he also say that in one of the missions following Back to school? Correct me if i am wrong.

I feel that about Ryder trying to have sex with Kendl was put in just so players would have a reason to hate Ryder and not wonder why CJ isn't mourning his death like Smoke's.

Yeah. Why should CJ believe him? Did he have any proof Ryder tried to do that? And how would he do that, when Kendl was either with Sweet or with Cesar most of the time? It's just bullsh*t put in by lazy c*nts at R* because they had to make it look like Ryder was bad. IMO he only cared about his drugs and the Grove, he wasn't bothered about others most of the time.

What?

Ryder says CJ is a complete Bustah everytime in the beginning.

Now he's a Busta cause he betrayed Grove4life.

No. Ryder never betrayed the Grove. He only wanted drugs, that's why he was side-dealing with Ballas. He wasn't in with the Ballas for power like Smoke was. Smoke himself admits in the end that the power and money tempted him to betray Grove. Also, Ryder was living in Grove Street, Smoke wasn't, because he didn't want anyone to find out about his operations.

Well, he could've also joined Ballas cause of Ballas wanting to cap him.

Remember Big Smoke almost killed Ryder in the first mission?

That's what I didn't like. People always try to make Ryder worse than he really was prior to his betrayal when in reality, his personality was no worse than Catalina or even OG Loc.

I find it LOL that people argue about a character in a game...

But if i must argue this is what i would say:

"Every GTA game needs someome you trust in the beginning and he betrays you in the end, with his death as a result.

Rockstar just thought that SA needed 2 and later on decided to choose Ryder.

People just hate him cause he's a Shermhead.

And that's exactly what Rockstar wanted, that people like you and me hate Ryder"

That's what i would say, but i didn't cause i wrote it. But it's still a game (Not Real life) so why argue about that?

It's probably just a perfunctory planning of Ryder's character in the game by R*. I agree that R* really wasted Ryder's character. CJ doesn't even at least have a conversation with Ryder and Ryder's death is poorly conceived. It would've been much better if Ryder somehow survived the boat explosion and came out of nowhere after CJ almost escaped out of the burning building and told CJ how he survived the boat explosion. Then he and CJ would get in a gun battle and Ryder would be extremely hard to kill since he's more elusive than CJ and would start ducking through the pillars when CJ shoots at him, not to mention the weapon he has is a mini gun to add on to the difficulty. After CJ finally brings Ryder down, the latter's last words would be "You ain't no busta no mo', CJ. Sorry I doubted you. See you in hell one day, homie." Then he dies and CJ escapes, showing the last part of the mission. That would be an epic ending for Ryder. He's such a great character, if not the most cohesive character of the game, and deserves much better than he was portrayed as in the game.

Nobody cares about him and the reason is like CJ says, Shermhead!

That brings up another funny point. During the photoshoot mission when you get pictures of Toreno, Jizzy B, Mike and Ryder, CJ just f*cking YELLS sh*t out to them when he's trying to hide. Even when I was out of the game I was like "Shh! shut the f*ck up CJ or they're going to hear you. Jesus!"

Also, What WAS Big Smoke doing in CJ's house at the beginning?
