Is there a chance someone has managed to place all the gta3.img textures into their actual gta3.img file? If so, please share with the rest of us. : - )

Share a >1GB file? :O

 

I've shared my gta3.img before, it was 1.6GBs. 1GB is nothing.

1GB can be a lot for someone who has slow internet with low bandwidth and isn't use to files that large.

DK, are you around? I tried your mobile DFF plugin with 3ds max 7, when I try to open a dff, It gave me the message "This a not a mobile DFF"

the size of an original gta3.img is around 930.000 KB

PC gta3.img = 896 MB (940.064.768 bytes)

PS2 gta3.img = 458 MB (480.456.704 bytes)

Android gta3.img = 270 MB (283.525.120 bytes)

The texdb folder from both OBBs isn't much smaller than PC IMGs.

Yep combining both texdb folders makes them around 900MB in total size. Not much different :p

Although the first one stores some files in different compressions like DXT(gta3.dxt), PowerVR(gta3.pvr), Uncompressed(gta3.unc) and ETC(gta3.etc).

Haha! There is an img compression tool for San Andreas. I've got mine down to 394 MB (413.194.240 Bytes). So it's smaller than the PS2 one but I don't use it anyway because the textures get too blurry.

 

On topic: I had to throw out the fingers mod completely. It crashes my game far too often. I used modloader's "ExcludeAllMods = true" feature and added more and more mods up to the fingers mod and then I realized that it was the fingers mod all the time. It's sad because I really liked it. I'm waiting for a fixed version, still.

using cj with fingers with modloader indeed crashes the game randomly, modloader doesn't seems to like player.img

 

direct edit player.img and you're good to go, I've been using this way and never faced any crash

send me this. I remember this happened before (hand.dff/txd or something like that) but it was in a very early version and I fixed it. Damn FHC ghosts.

btw is it on 015 or 020?

That means DFF doesn't use native data format. Try to open it with any other scripts.

 

Mobile's dff files are smaller than PC's ones. They use 2b-indices instead of 4b, also normals are packed in 4b (12b in PC). There's also no second UV channel (which was used for reflection maps in PC).

And also, most of them use tristrips.

Hey DK I have idea, i saw that film and thought how to be good use texture from vehicleenv128map from vehicle.txd in models/generic folder. You should ask Dexx could do it. Thanks anyway :)

Fully modded to the max. Shame it wasn't really compatible with MTA, because I had quite a few streaming problems even while playing on a medium-high end PC. My current one is about 1.2GB at this moment, featuring world textures, vegetation, high quality skins and such which I use for roleplay, but I'm dying to see someone porting all the mobile textures over on PC.
