AFAIK, The mipmap option of SA is somewhat broken.

 

Vanilla game, mips on - some textures, very few actually, are mipmapped

Vanilla game, mips off - all textures unmipmapped

 

With the latest mipmapped textures pack found around here, no matter if on or off, they're always mipmapped.

 

So I think the texture itself is the shot caller on this subject

If I recall correctly, if the textures are mipmapped with DK's DDS2TXD tool then they'll always be mipmapped even if the option is disabled, not sure why this happens.

 

Mipmaps are also related to Visual FX Quality, even if the mipmap option is on but the Visual FX Quality is on low, then the mipmaps won't appear. Although once again, I think even this option doesn't matter when using DK's tool and they'll still appear.

In the case you mentioned, there will be no mip map for the weapon icon, it will be treated as it currently is. You have nothing to worry about, literally, The texture has to have mip maps for you to notice this new feature.

_DK's DDS2TXD actually build as is to whatever you make the DDS, it doesn't automatically mip map things, that would be stupid, the plug-in simply takes the DDS file and packs it native as TXD for the game to use, it's up to the user how they create that DDS file to determin things like compression quality, mip maps, etc.

What I mean is, if you give the DDS file mipmaps and then convert it to a TXD, the mipmaps will always be enabled in-game even if the option for them is disabled in-game.

 

This isn't an issue when using G-TXD to mipmap textures, I don't think its an issue with DK's other tools either.

Nobody would be mip mapping icons at any point as it would just be a waste of space considering the game doesn't even use it before this patch.

 

In all honesty, you're sounding pretty damn ungrateful! You pointed out a problem you had, both myself and Silent wasted a couple of hours fixing it, and now you're bitching at us to remove it! Jeez, the issues you're bringing up would HAVE to be at the fault of the person who made them, if they were packing them wrong before, it's their fault and you should bring that to their attention, but as far as I can see over the years, no one has put out mip mapped weapon icons and thus, the game will behave as normal for these. Can i make that any clearer for you? If you want to worry about ENB, this shouldn't do sh*t with ENB, you can carry on using your mirror cars.

I'm not bitching at all. Especially not to remove features. Please try to understand that I just wanted to point out not every feature is always useable under all circumstances. That's why nearly evrey game has an options menu where you can dis/enable stuff. Configurability is what I would welcome SilentPatch to provide, in order to be able to eliminate problems that might appear under certain conditions in which somebody could potentionally run into. It feels like you totally twisted my words. If I made myself not clear enough and created confusion, pardon me.

About mipmapped HUD textures, of cousre I meant modded TXDs that might appear in the future.

moar toggles would mean moar personalization, something that a LOT of mods should offer and only a few actually do

 

even if this implies in the complete distortion of the modder's vision

 

altering silent's vision? what a sin...

 

but as said, silentpatch is not a mod, it's a patch

I actually find it insane how much complaining we're getting here over this one thing.

 

To put it out there again.....

 

If the weapon TXD has no mip maps, the game WILL treat it pretty much exactly the same as it does now. Most of you won't even notice this fix unless someone makes TXD's to take advantage of this feature, it's not going to cause like 20fps drop, not going to grind the game down, not going to mess with precious ENB, etc. It's a fix put in place for future mods, if some idiot messed up mip maps with their weapon mod back in 2005, then, what the hell, we can't be blamed for that, BUT if there are mip maps in place, then this code will just allow it to be displayed properly.

 

Considering most people for years just use TXD Workshop, which doesn't have Mip Map support anyway, you're literally not going to see a problem with this fix.

 

What would be the point in a toggle, when, the ONLY time you'd notice it would be making it look WORSE by switching back to the original way.

 

It's a FIX for a reason, what is the point in giving people a choice to turn these fixes off if they are not causing any problems.Do you want Helicopter Rotors to be a toggle too? How about the Police Radio fixes? Do you want a toggle to go back to the broken ones which miss out certain areas? I don't get it, maybe Silent should just stop taking on any further requests since people seem to be getting quite picky now and coming off complainers. Sorry for fixing your game guys!

But it's a good point, between a FIX and a NEW FEATURE. This filter, the game are intended to work that way originally?

 

If there's a bug, and you guys managed to fix it, awesome. But when it comes to new features, it should be optional.

I don't see why people are complaining about this. It doesn't negatively effect anyone yet people are still asking questions about it.

 

Not everything has to be optional, adding more useless options to the ini just clutters up the mod and makes it more confusing for new people in the community.

This "filter" only activates when it detects mip maps for weapon icons, it's a fix intended because the game can't handle high resolution elements in some areas without crushing them, to get around the crush, you can now use mip maps, it's something similar War Drum allowed in the Mobile Version of the game. We've had to handle it a bit differently to get the same results.

I do not know how I did it. But I moved the characters cutscenes models and cuts.img of Android version on PC. After reinstalling the game I could not do it again.
