I like how they updated the ones that arn't even used to! Literally like they just handed the file over to someone and said "redo all of these!".

And if a experient modder wants to try to bring these new icons to PC, I'll be grateful.

That should be as easy as a simple main.scm edit, without the need of starting a new game at all :)

I can do that, sure. I hate how the SCM will need to be edited, but there is no other way. ASI/CLEO workarounds would end up being WAY too complex and not worth the effort.

 

EDIT:

Mind preparing a TXD file with these included as new textures? Name them whatever you find suitable.

I got another question, as you probably have seen, the mobile version have some kind of "color improvement". The timecyc is the same as of PC, but it have some kind of filter. One file catch my attention, it's called colorcycle.dat http://www.sendspace.com/file/9zkm9t

 

Can you have a look at this, to determinate if this file controls the "color filter"? And, who knows, if can be included to PC...

Is it just me or noaward icon isn't mean to be drawn as a square anymore? At least it looks like it on your screen.

 

Regarding colorcycle, no clue how it could be redone on PC. Probably pretty hard to do so.

Maybe this is a bit off-topic, but were the weapon icons redone as well? It seemed like it from the screenshots.

 

I already remade those icons myself, but maybe those are better than mine.

There's no need for me to release such a mod, all one has to do is import those png files using TXDWorkshop. At any rate, I do think those look a bit better than mine.

Again, just proving that they handed the files over to someone to remaster ALL of them, I like how unused stuff is getting an upgrade to. :p

 

edit: Also like how they have a slight pinkish/purple tone to them now instead of flat out grey, but it seems out of place for San Andreas.

Yes, something like that, but I haven't found the skateboard icon on mobile.

 

Something interesting, I noticed the trees and palms are a more green in mobile, so I take a look at the textures. The mobile ones are 512x512.

There are even redone icons for xbox360 and ps3 controls (You can plug a USB control on Iphone/Ipad, right?)

About the cars, they are a dff and a txd, right? Like, rancher.dff and rancher.txd. Rockstar promissed "improved models" ... I'm going to take a view

Vehicles are somehow different format when compared to PC, you can't export mobile vehicles to PC but you can import PC vehicles to mobile. Textures for vehicles don't seem to be enhanced at all, and also the model size is lower than in PC. And those menu textures would be nice to have in PC version, though it'd probably need some sort of menu overhaul? :p

On mobile, there are several png with the same textures, named planta256, planta256_fosterflowers, planta256_vgnglfcrse1, planta256_vgsn_nitree, planta256_lae2coast_alpha, planta256_civic02_lan, planta256_civic01_lan, planta256_cityhall_tr_lan

 

On pc, the planta256 is on a txd called gta_tree_palm, inside gta3.img

The palm on the your first screenshot has a texture named kbtree4_test. There is replaced version of the palm on the screenshot:

Indeed, they must have changed the code. I'll check mobile SCM later and update the link in my last post with a new SCM.

Personally, at this point, for any higher res stuff, I'd hold off til the Android version where we can get access to the UNC versions, PVR compression is pretty crappy, and with all the artwork updated, we could do a nice little booster mod for San Andreas using the new textures.

Android version are coming this week? Also, to extract the contents of the iOS version, I just renamed the package to zip and voilá. How it works on android?
