You need PS+ to play with other people online right? As far as I know, this game is only single player so PS+ won't be needed. I don't see why you're worried, Surak.

Well, everyone playing the game will in fact be sharing the same universe, but chances of actually running into someone else are very slim. At least, that's what I've read. http://gamerant.com/no-mans-sky-no-multiplayer/

Oh true. I wonder if we could be a dick to other people if we end up finding them.

No need for Ps+? That worries me.

Ummm why?

I was looking forward to playing this with friends, you know sharing co-ordinates and spending great deals of time and effort trying to find each other, but I fear this won't be possible. I think, if anything, it'll be a "journey" like MP where if you bump into someone, you can't see their whole picture, ship customizations etc, or communicate.

Don't think you'll be able to share co-ordinates. 18 quintillion planets and everyone starts on one of them - even if you could give out details of your particular solar system it wouldn't be of any use as a navigation to anyone else

That is my concern. I was hoping we could just live and breathe in this galaxy, and not be forced to march toward the center.

That is bs we can't join or spawn close to freinds its a big virtual space, I hear your concern surak I just hope they add a join freinds option

I'm actually debating myself on buying this game cause of that, hopefully gameplay will outweigh the friendless experience :(

I will still buy it 100%, but I am less excited than before.

In one of the interviews they said that they could spawn 1 million people up on one planet and it would still take you 4 weeks before you actually bumped into someone!

That sounds like an over-exaggeration in my opinion but I could easily be wrong.

Well if you think about 1 million people on an earth size planet is bugger all really if you're equal distances apart!

Wait, the planets are actually that big?

To quote the devs "we've planet size planets. If you were to circumnavigate one by foot it would take you months!"

the whole game is supposed to be to-scale.

that means planets are the size of f/cking planets. and the distances between them equate to millions of miles.

the distance between star clusters is physical lightyears.

players will have to use FTL drives and warp speed to get around.

Which one I wonder...

So what exactly do you do in this game with planets so large? I cannot even fathom it.

You stand on a planet debating the meaning of life while being surrounded by flying space whales! What more would you want todo?

Hmm.

There's leaked footage around.

Looks good so far except from the FOV shown.

Hope it's adjustable

I'm hoping for PC modding to take off for this when it's out, it's got potential. Otherwise it will get boring eventually.

Also, if you can't customize your playable character, and lets say you theoretically run into a player, are you two going to look the same? Since the game is only like 5 GB, i doubt there's many variation in how you could look. I don't think there is even "multiplayer" in this, let's be honest.

edit: And finally, if there isn't a single NPC in the game(not counting animals, etc), who is piloting all those ships you see attack bases and each other in space between the planets? This game is one big mystery,

There's multiplayer! I believe he confirmed that when you do get close to players then a 4 player lobby is formed seamlessly. And the random generation is for players avatars aswell i believe I remember them mentioning in am interview that you would have to describe to eachother or take a picture to be able to find out what you character looks like.

You see NPC's at trading posts on planets, they speak their own languages that you can learn if you take the time to explore the planet, look for ancient monuments and get the word it holds. Otherwise i think you'll just be reading gibberish when trying to speak to the NPC's on new planets.

So yeah, aliens are piloting the ships.

There are going to be multiple alien races in No Man's Sky that you'll encounter on a regular basis, you could even join their factions and learn their languages - what made you think there weren't going to be any NPCs?

If everything I've read about this game is true (everyone sharing the same 18 quintillion universe), then I'll have to go to the *dark side and get a PS4. By the time I've saved up it might be available on Xbox One with any luck lol.

*Because you PS4 fanboys are seriously the worst. Non-fanboy 'cause I own Xbox One, PS2/1, Wii/Gamecube, PSP, DS Lite, Xbox, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, SNES and Sega Megadrive. I skipped PS3 and currently 4 because the PlayStation fan base looks toxic.

I don't know why a console's fan base is soo important to you, just buy it and forget about the assholes who bang on-and-on on their fanboy war drums - they're found everywhere, really. And if you really want to join the true Dark Side, I'd say you keep saving up and build yourself a PC, NMS doesn't have very high system requirements, so you could easily build yourself a machine that could run it for a reasonable price... or you could save up until you could build a beast that eats PS4s for breakfast. I built mine last year and haven't looked back since, my Xbox One is now my living room Netflix machine.

All fanbases can be pretty toxic. Not sure why you think Playstation is any worse than the others.

The least toxic fanbase is always the one you're a part of.

I'm on PS4/PC/PS3/360 and I find PC gamers to be the most toxic. The endless obsession with their machine's performance is so tedious.
