True, but you gotta remember that this is a 60 dollar game. For a lot of people that just makes this unacceptable, and rightfully so. It's also more than just a couple of bugs, the PC port is broken for many and (as far as we know at the moment) he lied about meeting other players in multiplayer. It's kinda sad really because it's pretty obvious that this was a passion project for them, but they did screw the pooch quite a bit.

Here's a few pics from the game so far. The ruins was a really nice find and I had a great time properly exploring it. The tower had multiple levels inside and took a few attempts and some lucky jetpacking to get through it all. Well worth it though.

Anybody else on PC having launch issues?

A lot of people apparently. The game has a pretty low rating on Steam right now, because of it.

Yup. Steam version on my gaming rig has no problems. Steam version on my surface pro 4 will not work. It loads to the start screen(in a window), the mouse cursor disappears (from the entire screen) and eventually it crashes and the mouse cursor returns.

Yeah. that's the problem I'm having right now. I'm just going to pack it up and hope they get a fix going for it in the next week or so. I understand that this is totally unfinished, but I'm super bummed.

From what I read hello games have just taken on a large Q&A team actually larger than their current team. Considering that the game itself was made by a team of 7 I think you need to give them a little leeway in terms of bugs. Apparently the previous Q&A testers was actually a small team from sony that no longer helps them.

How did they even fund this game? The fact that they couldn't afford to do proper testing isn't even close to an excuse when they are essentially selling $60 shovelware. Premium price means premium product.

But they are going to be adding content to the game with future updates for free, I'm okay with paying $60 upfront and know that they're going to keep adding to the game - unlike Elite: Dangerous, which I believe was $40 upon release and then went "see this awesome update? it's looks really cool, huh, this update? - 45 bucks". you could say I'm taking a gamble by paying full price and assuming they'll keep their word about the updates, but you could say that about a lot of games... look at GTA V, for instance :whuh:.

This isn't an early acces game, nuff said. Also, what a weird comparison. GTA V was a finished and working product at launch. The updates we're getting are just nice little extras, and honestly, Rockstar doesn't owe us sh*t.

The fact that E:D is early access and they decided to charge people an absurd amount of money for something that's contributing to the final product is a bigger slap in the face than what's happening here. You're entitled to your own opinion, but don't play coy, you know exactly what I'm referring to about GTA V.

Play coy? Are you being serious right now?

Also, what about Elite Dangerous? 'This game's business strategy is even worse and pretty sh*tty in my opinion, so I'll give No Man's Sky a free pass!' Is that the point you're trying to make?

That's complete bull seamen prices for game s don't vary to much and I've lost count of the times I've payed 50 quid for a game that's no where near a premium product! Price has nothing to do with the quality of game you recieve!

The game was funded completly by them to begin with like someone just mentioned it was started as a passion project by Sean and 3 other devs they split the team up they started prototyping NMS while the other 3 worked on patching there last game of witch the name escapes me.

The nature of the technology of this game meant that a conventional Q&A team couldn't actually test like they would normally as it's impossible for humans to bug test 16 quintillion planets so programs were designed in order to scan game content to minimise errors and problems. Now that bugs are being identified I'm positive they will be able to iron out some of the major ones but with a game of this scale and variety I would never imagine they will be able to iron out every bug in future.

Yeah it's bloody annoying when you crash back to ps4 desktop or have other issues but the fact that this game is even in this playable state due to its size still amazes me.

It's no better than your stance: NMS hasn't been out a week and is obviously having technical issues - "Sean Murray probably lied about multiplayer"

Rockstar clearly announced single player content by name, Assassination Missions and Flight School plus "exciting new content" over two years ago, after the next gen versions were announced, and it never happened - "Rockstar doesn't owe us sh*t."

I'll end it here before the mods have to break this up.

Like I said, youre entitled to your own opinions. Relax.

It sounds to me like you're the one that's taking this stuff way too personally looking at your condescending instructions. Who says I'm not relaxed?

Stop comparing games 24/7 and just look at what's right in front of you for just one second. No Man's Sky, a game that is (as far as we know) missing features and that's fundamentally broken for a lot of people. You can keep saying: 'well *insert developer here* lied to us too!' But what's the bloody point?

Fair enough, but I tend to look back to similar situations and compare them to what's happening in front of me before making a final decision. If these problems continue any further, I'll be right there with you, but I can't help but remember a certain game( I won't say) which was not the final product when released - it's multiplayer was due a month afterward, and it was somewhat of a mess when it first went online but eventually was fixed... then broken again after a much delayed update, but was fixed again, and is now very popular among certain people.

I'll hope for the best and reserve judgment for the time being. But if what you see in front of you at the moment is crap, then it is what it is.

I'm just giving you my perspective.

Yeah, GTA Online was indeed crap at the beginning. But Rockstar always marketed it as an extra. It wasn't the main game you bought. You bought it for the singleplayer, and got Online with that for free. That's how they brought it at least.

With No Man's Sky it's a different story, multiplayer was a fundemental part of the main game. Meeting another player should've been an amazing experience and was one of the main things to look out for. And it's missing. If it's a bug, alright that's forgivable I guess, sh*t happens. But it's starting to seem like it might not be a thing at all, and that's just shady as f*ck. Time will tell though.

only bought it yesterday on psn. took me a while to get off the home planet but eventually have done, done a bit of exploring on the closest planet next to it which is pretty huge, just want to gather enough resources to keep flying about tbh which is quite time consuming.

is there any fast travel thing you can do? i found a shop to sell and buy stuff but i doubt i'll be able to remember where it is seeing as the game map is infinite.

Everything you need is pretty much everywhere, and you can find it without too much trouble. Space stations are ideal for buying & selling since you can use the trade terminals or just hang around the docking bay and buy & sell with aliens. There are also trading posts on planets and they're quite easy to find. Once you've explored a bit more you'll find things that are difficult or time consuming now, are actually really simple later on.

Typically, Indie games aren't priced at $60. This game is and that's one of the main reasons why people expected it to run properly. You wouldn't have seen the same kind of outrage over a $30-$40 game.

The size of the game is relative. It's actually not that big. Planets don't even look like they have proper size (they are more like real life asteroids from the footage I've seen). There's a similar game being developed by a small team (

), only they are trying to make a more realistic space-sim with true to scale planets. Initially they wanted to make a whole universe but they settled for a single solar system for now. Maybe NMS was\is too ambitious for such a small team.

Thanks for the advice people, I'm loving this game. Played it for 7 hours straight but on slow pace, been on 3 planets (one is a moon with rocks and gold only). I really enjoyed the way it organizes systems, planets and species so you don't loose track of it.

Saw a huge grey ship named Bikinasu S10, are those names random too? It costs 1,25M and I'm at least 500k short. This one has 24 cargo slots, what's the maximum you have seen? I'm saving to buy it instead of the hyper thrust alone to equip mine, since those more expensive models already got one.

Is there any kind of 'showroom' with all them or we can only purchase from NPCs?

I don't follow game industry closely and this was a great surprise on me, just in time I wanted to drawback from multiplayers, thanks again.

You can only buy npc ships or find and repair crashed ships on the surface.

My currant ship cost me just over 15mil and has 33 slots so they certainly get bigger. It also had a hyperdrive and 3 distance upgrades for it.

I dont know but it seems the further away from my starting system im getting the bigger the ships are getting.

Or could be due to which alien race is dominant in the system as i have been to three systems so far and had three different alien races in each.

The other patterns ive noticed is that plutonium, thamium9, platinum, zinc and heridium always spawn on planets as well as a large deposit of a rarer resource (I've found this to be Gold, Emerim, aluminium and copper so far) and smaller crystaline deposits usually underground or in tunnel areas mixed along with plutonium (again so far gold, titanium and aluminium).

Again i can differ but this is what i found to be the case for 5 of th 7 planets.

Moons tend to be abit more barren. The 4 moons i have visited have had the basic resources and much more florna than fauna (by which i mean one maybe two animals and the 10+ species of plants).

Like i said this has been my findings so far but a sample size of roughly 15 planets/moons from 4 systems isn't really anything though.

They stated things get harder as yk7 get closer to the middle, so it stand to reason that ships will get larger and more expensive, i.e., harder to afford. I think a lot of what we are accepting as the norm are going to drasticall6 change in the near future. This game... we've barley scratched the surface, it'll be interesting to see pics and hear stories as people approach tha5 bright light in the middle. The Guide has a lot of entries to go...

No - they're planet size. Very, very much so. All the videos and all the reviews and details about this game do not prepare you for the actual vastness. It is overwhelmingly large.

Agreed. Been on this one planet for almost 2 days, still haven't circumnavigated it, and looking for 3 more creatures.

My second ship had auto locking weapons does anyone know what mod that is as my current ship doesn't have it?

Edit: Scratch that somehow they magically started doing it again on my new ship!

They're huge but it's not obvious how huge. Planet-space transitions don't look very convincing either.

I managed to shave off 4 euros (or more if you count Steam's taxes) by getting this game on G2A. I wonder how long will it take for them to realize that people are deliberately not paying VAT on their games.

The way they've handled textures is absolutely horrible. For me it's not just space-to-planet transitions that look bad. Simply flying around looks even worse, in my mind.

That said, I do understand that there are real limitations with today's technology so I accept it and literally shrug it off.

The one thing that really does annoy me is being told something is 2 minutes away and the timer starts going up as I'm moving towards it. That sh*t needs to be fixed as soon as possible!

Personally, one of my major nuisance points is how easy the terminal "puzzles" are in the planet bases. It's always find the next number in the sequence, and all you need to do is flip the number around or something and it's done. I just hope that things get harder further towards the centre. I've yet to find any extreme weather planets too, out of the 8 I've land on so far most have been - while generally not too pleasant - easily survived.

Alright, just finished my 2nd session. Again, no issues at all and this time I remembered to take screenshots. I visited two planets, one was arid and lifeless, the other frozen but with tons of flora and fauna.

Nice shots. Love the last one.

I'd take some but for some reason my hud won't turn off(using h key). Am I missing something? Is there some other screen shot key outside of Steam's F12?

What do you have to search for at the beacons to find pods to upgrade your exo-suit?

Is your Steam overlay enabled? if it is and it's still not working, try pressing Alt+Printscreen. It should save to your pictures directory.

Shelters, but you won't get them every time you hack a beacon.
