Furry_Monkey
I've found something that helps when collecting stuff with the mining laser (on foot - doesn't work in a ship). When the temperature gets to about 90%, let go of R2/LT and as soon as it starts to go down again you can start firing, and it drops back down to 0 immediately. You can pretty much mine without stopping when you do that, which is always nice when you find the MASSIVE deposits of neutral elements you can sell for lots of delicious cash. deadx23 and AlienTwo
Edward Nashton
So NMS is 2.5 gigs on the PC? I thought it was going to be like 6. Fine by me, I'll be playing it in less than an hour aJem

Also you can toss a grenade when it's about to overheat, keep the mining going and cools the tool down. EDIT: This is now tip #10 in the Guide. chronic lumbago
My god, this game is amazing. My first planet was waterless and very cold but it was a great place to learn the game's mechanics, daytime temp was about -50 celsious and -75 at night. Already upgraded to a 10 spot tool, I discovered a few alien words, a bunch of outposts and pissed of an alien by trying to calm him down when he got scared of my gun. I lost myself in a huge ass cave though it was beautiful inside, I spend a good half hour trying to find a way outside. Frustrating first but then again satisfying when finally making it out. Landed my ship up on a tree and fell loosing a good anmount of shields. Found some really weird alien species roaming the planet. I just landed on my second planet and it looks much nicer, -20c but absolutely stunning when standing near the water, with 3 planets including the first, the sun and a moon overlooking. I'm taking my first break right now and I'm feeling totally calm. AlienTwo
AlienTwo
God, just got ahold of this tip... amazing people... amazing. Tip #12: Once you die, all your inventory goods are placed in a grave: Reload a previous save and travel to your grave, you'll be able to re-claim your inventory while spawning with it all due to the previous save. You have just doubled your inventory. Despite the picture, it's probably easier to do this in space. deadx23 and El Dildo
Cosmic Gypsy
Earlier on, i found a planet that had large hand looking snail like plant creatures with flowers for finger tips, Some of them had shells, with the hand coming out of it, others were just a hand shape thing. They moved strangely, crawling along the ground like a snail and when stopped they would flail around comically. They stood upright with the fingers facing the sky, as if the wrist was their feet, sliding along the ground. What the actual f*ck?! Perfect acid game. I also found a very interesting planet with large animal/dinosaur hybrid looking creatures and plenty of massive flying parasite looking things.EDIT: I find it kinda stupid that when 4 pirate ships come shooting at me to rob me, they leave all my possessions in a nice grave for me to come and collect. AZAZEL
Really enjoying it so far. Such a chill experience. It runs OK. Experiencing some annoying frame drops once in a while, but it's not too jarring. Getting around 40-60 FPS with everything maxed out, FXAA, @1440p.Here's a few shots from my mild, temperate starting planet, and a bitch of a toxic moon I landed on:And what I've been doing for the past hour or so:Mining Emeril! 275U a piece, and the moon I'm on is loaded. trip
Just finished my first taste. Didn't think to take any photos. d'oh... These hunt, gather, craft games always seem to frustrate me. I always feel like I'm not doing things 'right'. I believe I have all I need to repair my ship. About to trek my ass back to my ship. See...that's some of what I'm talking about - I sense I may have traveled too far from my ship without really needing to. Ah'well. Running fine on my rig with only a couple of . trip
Anybody else on PC having launch issues?Only during my first launch. It took like 3 tries. I'd hit it - nothing - check the task manager - nothing. Even after it fired up I'm not sure it fired up right because it totally looked different then the times it fires up now. Everything seems fine on this end now though. Hummmm... Edited August 12, 2016 by trip
MCMXCII
Couldn't resist and bought it today. I expected it to be way larger than 5gb and a tiny 800mb update. It's all generated from an equation remember, not like they modelled 18 quintillion planets individually:PImagine how long it would take for them to model that many planets and star systems lol the game would never get released in our life time. Edward Nashton
Anybody else on PC having launch issues? Nope, not at all. I've played for five hours total with a break in between and I haven't had a single issue. I'm running it maxed out @1080p 60fps with some moderate dips when the game generates terrain. Forgot to take screens , maybe tomorrow.

Richard Power Colt
Well apparently a lot of streamers have had issues running this game and they generally have pretty good hardware. It seems to be pretty badly optimized.

CH14R1
Thanks for the advice people, I'm loving this game. Played it for 7 hours straight but on slow pace, been on 3 planets (one is a moon with rocks and gold only). I really enjoyed the way it organizes systems, planets and species so you don't loose track of it. Saw a huge grey ship named Bikinasu S10, are those names random too? It costs 1,25M and I'm at least 500k short. This one has 24 cargo slots, what's the maximum you have seen? I'm saving to buy it instead of the hyper thrust alone to equip mine, since those more expensive models already got one. Is there any kind of 'showroom' with all them or we can only purchase from NPCs? I don't follow game industry closely and this was a great surprise on me, just in time I wanted to drawback from multiplayers, thanks again. Silver_Wolf
Thanks, I think I have that tool already as I just killed my first creature and sentinel's the other night so looks like I am good. Did not have much time to play on Thursday/Friday as had other hobbies take up my time but going to get back to it tomorrow and have a good look and make my captain's logs of my adventures, I've already been using the analysis tool a lot to record everything, I am in no rush to get to the centre of the universe but I very much like this, such a vast difference and feelings compared to GTA Online. The game has a pretty low rating on Steam right now, because of it. Yup. Steam version on my gaming rig has no problems. Steam version on my surface pro 4 will not work. It loads to the start screen(in a window), the mouse cursor disappears (from the entire screen) and eventually it crashes and the mouse cursor returns. DEALUX
They screwed up the release for this game. The PS4 version isn't really any better. My guess is they ran out of time and they didn't manage to optimize the game enough but given its history of delays they decided to release it anyway. The fact that some of you can run it with no problems doesn't really mean anything. There are an overwhelming amount of people complaining and this strongly suggests that the game was poorly made much like the PS4 version (or worse). Edit: I kinda want to buy it but I don't think it deserves the full price. Plus I'm not sure that they will completely fix the game. Edited August 13, 2016 by Kristian. OysterBarron
From what I read hello games have just taken on a large Q&A team actually larger than their current team. Considering that the game itself was made by a team of 7 I think you need to give them a little leeway in terms of bugs. Apparently the previous Q&A testers was actually a small team from sony that no longer helps them.
