Is there a backstory on how your character begins his journey? Is his spaceship crashed or what?

Do you jump right into gameplay or is there a cutscene?

Well I figured out my navigation troubles and was able to progress with my exploration of the planet, it seems I'm

a long way from the center of the galaxy though! LOL!

Time for bed tonight though but no doubt I will have more to say on this in coming days, one question though!

Can you buy your character a gun as I found some hostiles on the planet I'm on and would like to take

care of them., anyone know the answer for this yet?

you could find a tool upgrades for a gun (on ps4 press triangle to switch), and now that I remember you can trade your tool to better ones on some stations on planets (I haven't been on space stations much) Edited by deadx23

What I have done so far in the game is to make an upgrade to my multitool, so you can also shoot projectiles with it. I found a blueprint for it. I know you can buy multitools too. But besides upgrading multitools or buying new ones I don't thing there are other carry weapons in the game as it is now.

6 hours in and I only just left my 2nd planet! This game is hard to comprehend, it's beyond enormous! For the past 45 minutes I've been just Pulse Jumping through space, not knowing where i'm headed.

I'm gonna grab dinner then play some more I HAVE TO listen to the Interstellar Soundtrack later tonight while in space! Epic!

Also quick tip this isn't made very clear at the start, once you acquire a 'gun' add on for your tool, press TRIANGLE to switch between mining laser and gun. this frustrated the hell out of me til I figured it out.

I'm 23 systems deep following the path of the atlas. this game is incredible. I haven't even been to a planet in the last 8 systems. now I find myself having to land on a planet just to collect 25 iron, as no one is selling around these parts!

I'm going to, after a full day of playing this wonderful game give it an 8.5/10.

I'm leaving room for the fantastic updates. ;)

After starting the game and getting off the planet, I traveled to a space station I'm guessing in the first system I stumbled on and went in. There was an alien/guy in a space suit and basically we were trying to negotiate deals for merchandise/items. A ship landed beside mine when I went back out you could basically buy or maybe do some other means to obtain it. My starting planet was off the wall weird I do have to say though. Which I liked.

The game was also sold out of physical copies in my town which never happens for any game. I think they didn't get "AAA" number of copies like most do.

It's interesting as all get out once you get in. For now at least. I probably need a weekend to see what I really feel about it.

It's been a long time since I did this...

I grabbed a Monster, and 4 packs of peanuts to get rid of my hunger....... I played non stop from 12:45pm till 8:20ish pm. Glued to my 55 inch lol.

AND I just got Warp Drive lol, can't wait to use it. It slips my mind, but the portal where you can buy and sell stuff IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

The only thing I don't like is the random flying ships that I sometimes shoot by accident and they gang up on you.

BTW did anyone feed the dinosaur type creatures yet?!?! LMAO I fed this beast carbon or steel I think and that animal had a Smiley Face above LOL!

When they get a smiley face above them just let them be for a while but follow them. They'll lead you to resources because you're now mates :D

I've only had them show me plants to refill my health, but I expect they'll lead you to all sorts of goodies if you pay attention.

My tip would be, use L2 or LT to scan things. I've been naming plants and animals all over the place and getting paid for all of them. There's a checklist of types of things to name for each planet you visit, and you get 150,000+ units for completing the list so it's worth doing, if you're exploring anyway.

My first thoughts about this game are just WOW. My previous mention of Elite is definitely relevant and I did half expect Blue Danube to start playing the first time I docked at a space station. I've found myself a little overwhelmed at how little we actually know about this game, and the scale is beyond description. I don't care how many zeros you use to try and convey the vastness of the universe in this game, as it's nothing compared to simply opening up the map when in space, switching to free view and just zooming out, and out, and out, and out.

Most of us are lovers of sandbox games, or we wouldn't be on a GTA forum in the first place. This makes all other sandbox games look like a spec of dust. Overwhelmed is definitely the right word to use.

It genuinely better be by the way I'll be raging if it's over in like 2 days of gameplay!

As far as I'm aware even when you reach the center the game isn't over it goes on forever!

Really depends on your playstyle too, you could literally spend 10 hours on a single planet, maybe more, if you wanted. Or you could skip most planets, just build up resources for warm jumps and head STRAIGHT for the center. It's really all about you and how you choose to play.

I'm pretty much doing that but not too hastily. I'm having a good look around but intend to get to the center relatively soon. Then, I'm going to pick a direction and go out. I plan to have a base on a planet far from the center, one day, with a few pets, but there will be lots and lots of exploration before then!

Francis is just a character that the guy plays, and he does have some valid points. The game is enjoyable for lot's of reason, but it's definitely not perfect.

That was a very nasty comment. Francis is a character, and the guy is actually sick.

And your point is... What exactly? That we should all just shut up and ignore it's faults? Cause all that's gonna do is make sure that they'll never improve it either.

Okay..... you post a crazy video with a sick weirdo ranting like a maniac about a game, I make a joke about him and it's devolved into this?

Get a grip, you two.

Back OT: The second time I visited the Atlas it was black, not sure if the color has any significance but for the record I'm on the atlas path.

Also, once you receive an Atlas Pass don't skip any space stations, behind each of the v1 atlas doors is an exo-suit upgrade. They are also on the planets in these "eggs", easy to spot from the sky as their openings glow bright;
