I don't wanna waste another 70$ so anyone who has at least spent 25+ hours on this game tell me, do you like it?

I wanna give this game a chance, but not for full price when it gets boring fast.

Was thinking the same thing.

I spent hundreds of hours doing Origami as a kid. I never got bored of that so everyone will love it.

I like to stare at a blank wall for several hours a day to stop myself from going into a psychotic rage and smashing f*ck out of anyone I want to.

5* recommendation.

I'm loving it so far. laughing at all that thought it was multiplayer, I knew exactly what Murray was getting at from the beginning so no big surprise to me.

I've ended up in quite a busy part of the universe, I've just got to my first space station and sorting out the hyperdrive. IT IS minecraft in space. but what it does better than minecraft is legitimises the survival experience by actually having a point to it, and not getting chased by skeletons with bows and arrows. the sense of survival is real, and it seems like a slog at first (after watching streams) to even get the ship started to begin with, but it was easier than expected and I was off my planet within half hour/forty five minutes. everyone's starting point is different so it will be different for everyone.

My first planet is called Nasti Zulu (because it had a randomly gen'ed Afrikkan sounding name and the planet... well, I couldn't of asked for better place to be in terms of resources, but survivability was against me from the off. the planet rains constantly toxic rain. its awesome. I've found some interesting creatures on the planet already and there is a gigantic asteroid field surrounding the planet, full of resources needed to stock up on hyperdrive etc.

I'm going to be a trader eventually when I can get the ball rolling on this, because I prefer quick transactions rather than mining. once I've farmed a great amount of one resource and found a suitable location in the galaxy to sell it at a premium, I'll be able to fund my travel to the center indefinitely.

If you've got an imagination, and you love space, this is an essential play.

If you like story-based games and don't have much of a creative imagination, then this will get boring very quickly. me, personally I can see myself playing for a very long time to come. I've been sat in this space station whilst writing this watching all the different ships come in and land. they're all freaking awesome!

p.s.
Sentinels are what I thought they'd be, an annoyance... but try to stay on their good side and you'll do okay.

Huh, both positive and very negative user reviews. It's not a casualized mainstream game made for every gaming audience, that's for sure.

I'll most likely buy it in a few months. The thing that bothers me the most from what I've seen is that ugly color style the game uses. You know, these calming light green/blue/red tones like on the game's cover and inventory/crafting. But I'll get used to it if the game is worth playing.

To the people with a physical copy: does your box have a sticker like this?

hey that looks like a misprinted or early copy before a change, I'd hold onto it could be worth something one day.

- my adventure gets cooler. warped ahead 3 systems now, found a cave FULL of vortex cubes, which essentially is treasure to me. I've got that credit boost I was looking for. I wish I could of placed a marker to that cave because it was literally full of these cubes. I probably will never find it again.

Is there any way to see spacial co-ordinates, or something like that? I'm hoping to be able to catalogue anything interesting I find and that would be the easiest way.

Not as of yet, but I can imagine them adding waypoints etc in, unless I haven't found it yet I'm not sure. But that was kinda fun too. I had to carry what I could carry to sell and like, leave the cave behind knowing I COULD go back there but, I'd be scouring the planet for days. It was in a coastal region though, so I may head back there later after I've done some more upgrading-progressing.

I kind of gave up on work and have been playing for the last couple of hours. Some thoughts:

- The game is beautiful in a weird way.

- The game is boring as f*ck and I can't stop playing.

- The limit on inventory slots is a pain in the ass.

- Some dodgy graphic glitches on certain textures. Meh.

- Sentinel drones can eat a massive bag of dicks.

I've already upgraded to a new ship, found crashed on the starting planet, and located probably 10 or so outposts, and met a bunch of aliens. Found a few suit upgrades. It looks like you can experience quite a lot early on if you're patient and stick around on the planet you start on. I've named my first planet Sorarse.

Despite this game being kind of boring, it does convey a wonderful sense of isolation and loneliness, which I expected but not to this degree. Overall I'm impressed, and as I got it for a fairly good discounted price, I'm happy with the price I paid.

Depends on your definition of civilised. I haven't seen anything more than shelters on the planet I started on, and haven't left yet. I suspect there will be a few planets that are heavily loaded with advanced stuff.

Captain's log:

I've spent most of yesterday mining emeralds and gold I'm up 1 million :D its hard to leave some planets, on a distance I see a green giant rock and I have to go take a look its an emerald or gold so of course I have to mine it only thing is after a while its hard finding a station to sell stuff.i haven't had that much of trouble from sentinels I usually just stop and run away when they come over and they let me be. I got that bonus free ship on the options menu it has 3 more slots than the starter ship,i did find alot of upgrades to my ship and tool but none for my suit I learned a few alien words apparantly,i am loving this game so far I only been on 2 systems and a couple of planets they are so huge,i don't know about the co-ordinates I didn't see a feature but I wasn't looking for one maybe the closest beacon and just remember or make your own map lol.i also feed some creatures they brought me some resource (copper)

are there any civilized planets?

Imagine you'd be playing this game for months and then stumble upon a high tec futuristic city. Or some kind of dominant microscopic civilization. Or alien cyborgs.

I don't think anybody in the world knows what you can really discover in NMS. At least that's what I hope. If it's gonna be the same stuff with different skins over and over again then it'll suck after a while. Minecraft offers you a new, forever expanding world but once you've seen every mechanic that game offers (and don't want to build those sh*tty structures anymore) then you're done with the game..

What exactly does NMS randomize? The planets, the universe? What about the aliens?

Will be there a demo for ps4? I'm very curious on this because i love space traveling movies like interstellar, apollo 13, martian, gravity, gattaca, solaris.. The list is endless

Breaking in atmospheres, upgrading the spaceship, wandering in the space, exploring beautiful sceneries, good physics (whatever the gravity is) is what i'm looking for but would the grinding and struggling make it annoying forever or only on the beginning?

Also what about the soundtrack?

Also , every video I see shows very crowded areas with "animals" and looks sort of unnatural, a mess maybe and they all live without interaction like they were all herbivores dinossaurs, can we expect some interaction between them or they're just like fishes in the sea?

The grind does ease up, I just found a super easy way to craft hyperdrive fuel and based on everything you've said you'll probably like it. 3 hours with it and you'll know yes or no. I suggest borrowing it, I doubt there will be a demo? maybe.

Yeah, it is easing up as I play more. I've decided to stay in the first 4 systems I've travelled to and collect copious rare resources for cash at space stations, when I have about 250-500 Million credits I'm going to buy a new ship and continue the journey into the center, but for now I'm making money, and slowly looking into the monolith mysteries. (learning new words, secrets etc)

The soundtrack is subtle and atmospheric, and you can really appreciate its procedural generation with the different "action sequence starting" music you get on different planets etc against hostile animals/sentinels. etc.

Tips on how to aquire an Atlas Pass (I had no clue at first):

Tip #1: The most game altering thing I have learned so far: You don't have to hold down the right stick to sprint. Just click it.
Tip #2: How to get an Atlas Pass: keep your eyes out for Space Anomalies, one led me to the Atlas below where I got an Atlas Stone(it was in a normal looking triangle space station):

PS_Messages_20160810_062215_zpsvljzuxax.
PS_Messages_20160810_062220_zpsxp9pumct.
The second led me to this giant sphere where I met a Gek who gave me plans to build an Atlas Card, v1., pic of the sphere below;

Damn, PC won't get this until Friday. The wait is killing me, but hopefully they'll iron out a few kinks before then.

I gotta find something to distract me in the meantime.

Well I've been playing for two hours and a bit now and I like the fact it appears this will mostly be a solo experience

but it does seem a very large world and the planet's/space are very beautiful looking.

I started out on Najukuilevi and was a very hot planet but I managed to gather the resources to repair the ship and

escape and I'm now flying aimlessly around a poisonous dust planet called Renaalsto Uali but having a bit of

trouble gauging distance as I am trying to land near a beacon distress signal and every time I get close I

seem to be far away again so gonna take a bit of getting used to this environment I think.

Guess I might need to do some reading of the internet for tips on playing/finding things.

I do think it's pretty cool though and I love the fact you can fly into/out of planet's atmosphere's etc, was not

expecting that and I like the subtle music score playing and being in complete control of your spaceship and able to

do whatever you want and mine/resource away to your hearts content.

I'm currently saving for a PS4 for this game (also FF7 and Shenmue).

Until then I'm going to play Elite Dangerous which has multiplayer :)

Lol at everyone overhyping this game.

Question. Are you able to use your ship for mining resources? Is there an upgrade for it that allows that? I don't have the game myself so I don't know. I do envy all of you who get to play this game though!

Don't know if this answers the question but when I shot some asteroids with the photon cannons the debris was

store in my ship inventory (Thamium 9)
