Rockstar is updating their merchandise and swag for sale more than they are updating gtao? I don't expect actual content for the game each we don't even have a timeline on when and what is next. But by god each week rockstar has new crap to sell us.

Alright back to playing the game.

75% of this forum is too young to recognize the thread title.

Back on topic, R* merchandising department has nothing to do with the people working on the game mechanics and content, so even if they released 100 shirts and a huggable Lester plush next week it wouldn't do anything to slow down any future content.

Lol they are updating their swag?

It is a company, right? Yep.

Ah, so swag means merchandising? Yeah, different departments.

You do realize that large multi-national companies have different divisions and departments and that the same people that work in one area (game development) don't necessarily have anything to do with the others (merch and sales), right?

Some studios have marketing right on the floor with devs (irrational) some have them off site (ea), I'm not sure how rockstar does it but at some point on the company ladder they answer to the same person. Then again it's the holidays so that probably trumps my initial post.

Lost an argument to myself again. sh*t.

See my post above yours, the space between marketing and the developers isn't always as wide as ya think.

I'm glad you've come to understand this. It's ridiculous how many people don't even know what words mean but use them anyway.

Do you think the amount of time it takes to say "Yo boss, think this shirt looks cool?" "What about this hat?" "What would you do to change them?" takes so much time that it would slow down any kind of content development significantly? I honestly don't see how merchandise could have any effect whatsoever on game development progress.

Either way, I need to contact R* about my Lester plush idea. I think it could be a big sell.

Rockstar has had their software developers and game designers busy in a sweat shop for the last couple of weeks making t-shirts.

But they should be back to their computers soon.

Seriously? Marketing and devs could all work crammed into one room, but unless they're all huddled around a single workstation waiting their turn, neither side is going to have any direct effect on the other. Also, while multiple departments may ultimately fall under one person somewhere up the corporate chain, that doesn't mean that that person has any direct involvement.

Yes...the guys making T-Shirts are the same one coding and creating DLC....Einstein.

P.S. Much like most every circumstance in the song, that isn't irony.

I agree OP, instead of merchandising your sh*t first, come out with the content for the f*cking game then merchandise it. People buy it yes but more people want content first. Merchandise to me means you have a finished product in which GTA Online is certainly not a finished product.

"Hey look at the success we have and buy some shirts and hoodies to celebrate a game that is sh*t that you'll still play. Instead of us giving you guys what you want, we will release a beach bum pack.. in November. Two useless weapons and a bunch of underwhelming pieces of clothing not to mention some half decent vehicles that you will get shot in the back of the face in. Not only that but since you bought our game, zero f*cks are given."

f*ck off

"Despicably Rockstar"

P.S. Give us some money through our Cash cards service or else...

At no point did I say the same people who made the game made the t-shirts. f*ck man if you're going to be insulting at least work with things I actually wrote.

Ps. Someone else pointed that out.

Pss I was aware my post was not ironic when i wrote it.

That person should have enough direct involvement and common sense to understand that repeatedly updating the rockstar news wire with new merchandise while neglecting to update or post information about gtao could rub people the wrong way. But again, it's the holidays, people are buying tons of crap, rockstar just wants a slice so from a business perspective I get it.
