Crew VS Clan

So when did everyone start CHANGING R*'s name for the social club groups from CREW to CLAN.

This isn't CALL OF DUTY

Do you guys know the difference? Why is everyone looking for a CLAN? Your on the wrong game!

Can anyone explain even GROWN ADULTS are looking for CLANS, not Crews, but they want to join a Clan to play as a Crew on GTA V Online.

This is really getting annoying seeing all these posts of people who have no idea what they are talking about.

I'm recruiting for a clan, since we support more than just GTA V. Not sure if that's what your bitch is about or not though..

No where on their site do they say CLAN

GTA V Online only have CREWs.

NOT CLANS. A CLAN OR A GAMING COMMUNITY ISN"T THE SAME AS A ROCKSTAR GTA V CREW.

This website you are responding to my post on is called GTA FORUMS, NOT COD Forums. In Call Of Duty you have CLANS. In Rockstar's world where GTA V exists we have CREWs.

This feed is for finding a CREW, not for finding a CLAN. Since this site is for GTA and no other game.

What you're failing to understand is that some "groups" (haha) play multiple games. Since GTAForums.com is a place where people who play that game tend to congregate, people may chose to post recruitment ads on this site, but have their own websites for their groups.

Also, the mods here like to say gangs, not crews.. you left that one out. If you think about it, each online game has it's own name for groups.. WoW it's Guilds, EvE it's Corp.'s, CoD it's Clans, GTA we have Gangs and/or Crews.. Funny that, all the same thing though, just semantics.

From the Recruitment Guidelines Sticky:

  • You do not need to operate on GTAForums in order to post a recruitment thread. We want gangs to grow on these boards, and mingle with other gangs and the community. But we understand that gangs may prefer to operate elsewhere, especially with the massive world of GTA Online.

Exactly. OP, it's semantics. Calm down.

In GTA V you only have CREWS. Look it up.

There are NO CLANS, or GANGS. You can't go join the Ballas Gang, so what are you smoking?

And comparing a COD Clan to a GTA Crew is ridiculous. In Clans you don't have Hierarchy. In Crews you do. The concept is similar to that of The Godfather, with the family tree being a Hierarchy.

Where as COD Clans, are a bunch of random people, most who will never meet anyone else in the clan online gaming as no one knows each other. Unless they forced you to changed your gamer tag to their "Clan" name then and only then can you know if they are or not.

Its not like COD made a socialclub.

Bye kids, stop trying to lecture with nonsense. You cannot make something up to make it true.

Umm if a clan to you never had hierarchy then all your clans probably sucked and you don't know what a real clan is .

CLAN:

In computer and video gaming, a clan or guild is an organised group of players that regularly play together in particular (or various) multiplayer games. Some people might say that a "clan" or "guild" becomes like a family, and that all opinions and decisions represent each single member in the "clan" or "guild".[1] These games range from groups of a few friends to 4000-person organizations, with a broad range of structures, goals and members. The lifespan of a clan also varies considerably, from a few weeks or months to over a decade. Numerous clans exist for nearly every online game available today, notably in first-person shooters, massively multiplayer games, role-playing video games, and strategy games. There are also meta-groups that span a wide variety of game.

CREW:

A crew is a body or a class of people who work at a common activity, generally in a structured or hierarchical organization. A location in which a crew works is called a crewyard or a workyard. The word has nautical resonances: the tasks involved in operating a ship, particularly a sailing ship, providing numerous specialities within a ship's crew, often organised with a chain of command. Traditional nautical usage strongly distinguishes officers from crew, though the two groups combined form the ship's company. Members of a crew are often referred to by the title "Crewman".

"Crew" is used colloquially to refer to a small, tight-knit group of friends or associates engaged in criminal activity. Also used in reference to the traditional "unit" of criminals under the supervision of a caporegime in the American Mafia. However, the term is not specific to (Mafia-affiliated) organized crime.

Crew can refer simply to a group of friends, unrelated to crime or violence.
