It's been a while since last update. It's been a while since any relevant/useful info on anything related to progress on the game has been posted...

Why aren't folks petitioning R* Devs to keep us updated?

Why do the forums full the page with speculation when there is no official news?

And what bugs me most...

Why didn't the CC leaks from this forum inspire R* Devs to say ANYTHING about upcoming feature or give ANY news?

Does this bug anyone else?

Why do people start posts like this? It's an exercise in futility, and your not getting anything accomplished by complaining HERE about the lack of information....flood the social club and [email protected] if you're really are hard up for answers and think your tongue and wit sharp enough to cut through the silence.

Sorry dude, that's my bad... I am in the same boat and just...want to know SOMETHING.

@TreFacTor - I actually have contacted R* but they send me the same damned canned response every time. Three times I solicited them to release even a "we will release something, sometime 8==D [suck it]". In a much more subtle, structured and intelligent way, but they always say "watch newswire" to which I say fye! Fye on newswire and its non-game-related news!

Yeah what he said. Thought this would actually be a useful post for once. Yet again I'm fooled, oh nertz.

its has gotten ridiculous though

mass effect 3's multiplayer had balance updates every 2 weeks for at least year.

what is so hard about just telling people what's going on.

I would imagine they're trying to crush the game breaking bugs and figuring out how everyone will try and ruin everything new that comes out. Tow truck is a perfect example. What can they say, you know what's coming out next. You had a look at it 2 months ago in the trailer. Once it's ready and not a broken god damn mess they'll release it. Then they'll have to fix the umpteen ways people have figured out to break it, get into walls, cheat for money, and crash everyone else's console

Announce a date and have their programming plebs work 100-hours to met their promise and deliver half-finished code

OR

Keep quite just deliver it when it done

I know which I'd prefer as a gamer. As much as I hate it, it is one thing I do respect about the guys who did Gran Turismo racing games even if it is 3-5 years between games. And tomorrow is my Xmas so Rockstar can take forever with patches now.

Pretty much this. Once you announce a date you're putting the noose around your own neck.

If they said it was coming on say 12/12/2013 and then something went wrong on the 11th and they had to push it back everybody would be up in arms.

By keeping silent they're not tied down to a date and can just get on with it and once it's released you'll all forget you even had to wait and start kissing their arses again.

Also, try not to make threads with clickbait titles in future, it's really annoying.

Jumping to the demands and complaints of ungrateful pricks who tore the game apart with glitching etc probably isn't top of their list...not referring to you OP..just general.

The thing is when you think about, it's their game not ours. They generally don't owe us anything. While I'll agree with you that we deserve some sort of information because these things were promised to us from day one, it doesn't mean they actually owe us these updates.

If they want they could completely scratch out heists and not update GTAOnline anymore and there's not a single thing anyone can do about it.

I think if people are getting bored they should just not play GTAOnline anymore, if you still want to play GTA there are still plenty of good titles (Vice City, III, GTA 2, etc). Or if anyone is mad at Rockstar, then just don't purchase anymore of their games.

Also keep in mind this is their hugest game...Ever. They are getting so much feedback, rants, emails/messages, reviews then ever before. So much I'd imagine it's getting hard to handle. My speculation is that heists either isn't ready - or it is ready but they want to add more fixes/updates to the next patch (so they are working on that now).

Either way I see us getting heists, so it's just about being patient and doing something else until then.

IMHO it's rockstar to blame for the glitches. They released a mess. The game is broken in many aspects. They just released an update to delete police cars from garages after 3 months.

If you told me people forced code into the game or DDOSed to exploit the game flaws. But even a Timmy NoThumbs like me could glitch cars into the garage, get duped cars, wall breach, etc... And after 2 months ppl getting all sorts of stuff into garages people got creative painting those vehicles.

Yesterday I had to dashboard 3 times because of the infinite loading in different circumstances.

That they don't patch.

The game is great. Fun to play and entertaining. But oh boy the game is falling way short of expectation. The story mode is the shortest of any gta title, I call that lazy. And the multi-player is getting old very soon. On top of that they made it really hard for newcomers to level up.

Indeed I will think twice before buying from rockstar in the future.

eh I don't think glitchers are a big problem anymore tbh. The game is set for long term, there is no real in game economy. All those who glitched billions or whatever were redbull fueled hardcore gamers that just wanted everything now. They are gone, on to the next game or whatever to have an orgasm to.

My advice, take a break both from the game and the forums, come back later and you will find its still good, there are still so many ways to play and loads of decent people worth playing with. You just gotta learn how to filter through all the sh*t.

It's just my guess, but I think they are finally working on fixing the LSC glitch and many others for good. And not simply circumventing them.

I mean come on lol, they supposedly patched it and 30 seconds later people were at it again. Pretty embarrassing for whoever's team that was in charge of that coding. Wouldn't be surprised if that's why they went so quiet since 1.06 and the event. Oh god yes, the event as well! PS3 users got none of that, completely forgot about it.

Basically I think they're playing catch up now. No point progressing when whatever you add to the game gets countered or fails to work. Once that's out of the way, I'm sure we'll be starting to hear some news about the casino and heist. Not playing the glitchers or anything, but it has to be fixed eventually. Two months of infinite money in a micro transaction game lol...

One of the reasons they take a while to fix certain updates is because consoles aren't developer friendly (well at least I know Xbox isn't). It's easier to do a cloud server update than a console system update because everytime the developers want to add a new patch/console update they have to actually pay a fee. That's not to say that all of this shouldn't have been fixed from the start especially since the original release date was actually supposed to be Spring. But yeah.

I'm just hoping that this delay in heists isn't just because they are working on that, but because they are working on adding a lot of new things & patching a bunch of bugs. Otherwise a lot of people would just remain disappointed.

My game is not broken, it works fine.

If I was running a software company like R* and knew I was about to get a boost of sales and new customers coming in a few weeks. I would wait to release any new material until those new customers signed up. This would boost the potential further sales of other products offered like cash cards. I would also have a team working on bug fixes and release as soon as they are determined stable and effective.

They originally 'fixed' LSC by making loading screen times faster (a lot of developers where I used to work at call this "a cheap fix" or "cheaphaxing"). The real fix that would have entirely made sure that there was NO form of LSC glitching would have been deleting your car first. Then giving you your money. Then saving.

Because at the moment it works like this. >>Give money, >>Delete car >> save personal vehicle. And what people are doing is right when it 'gives money', they leave the session and return, so the game is saving the money before it actually deletes the personal vehicle. Make sure that it registers your car being gone before actually giving you anything. That would've not only fixed the Xbox/Psn store glitch, but the switching character as-well.

Edit: When you come and think about it, more things need to be validated via their servers and not through the disk. The reason people are able to "mod" the game, is because there isn't much verification going on through the cloud. I'm not sure how they would be able to do this with modded cars, but in terms of money. There's only certain ways to actually gain money. Races, Missions, Bounties, etc. They need to validate this via the server, where players can not gain access to the files. So if someone were to actually try to spawn cash, the server would check where this cash is coming from and not give it to them. Like for example Content Creator. It was disabled when Rockstar found out someone was using it and creating races. They did not need a console update / patch in order to disable it, it took 2 seconds via cloud - because Content Creator is handled and verified via their cloud server. They need to do this for a lot more things.

I entirely agree with you. Either they didn't bother or they underestimated how persistent the online comminity can be with cutting corners, whether legitimately or not. If people aren't glitching, they are farming or grinding. People will do what they have to do to get to their end goal as fast as possible once the novelty wears off. It's typical across all online games.

Ultimately, they wasted time and now have to play catch-up. Whether you glitched or not, it's been long enough since launch for the glitch to get patched. It had its run, people had plenty of time to have fun with, now fun time is over. That's how exploits work in online games. I applaud Rockstar for not being immature about it since exploits are found across all online games and only immature developers blames their communities for their inability to code properly.

Fix the glitches, move on.

This is fundamentally wrong. There is a certain level of expectation in the marketplace between manufacturer and customer, the metric and standard varies accordingly with the product type, the investment involved, and whether or not personal safety is marginalized. Businesses either flourish or fail through this very framework. Rockstar does not develop and publish games for the hell of it, they do it to turn a substantial profit in order to drive and maintain their business enterprise. This is done on the back of product promotion (ie promises of product performance) and any respect the manufacturer has managed to cultivate among its existing and potential customer base through its prior products and customer support.

Games are developed and manufactured according to expected return on investment. Publishers invest on this expected return and customers are attracted to invest into the software through their advertising campaigns. Rockstar exists because of its customers, without them they go out of business. Not only do they 'owe' it to their customers to reasonably satisfy or meet the expectations that they themselves set out when advertising their product (ie attracted customers to spend money on their software), but they also owe it to themselves to do so if they expect to continue being successful.

Stating that no one could do anything about Rockstar suddenly cutting off support for their game is also untrue. Unsatisfied customers can do quite a bit by not opening their wallets back up the next time Rockstar decides to make a GTA game.

Yup I agree with you. But Rockstar already made their profit.

Edit: Trust me I don't like the silence either. But there's really nothing that we can actually do to stop the silence. There are people saying to start petitions and what-not, what will that even prove? Rockstar has said it, heists are coming. So I'm going to hold onto that and just wait, and when I become bored of GTA Online - I'll just play a different game. People are starting to put their expectations high again (just for heists) and they are setting themselves up for disappointment if it turns out bad.

I think maybe the way things are unlock is part of the problem, as it pushes people towards grinding and stuff like that. For instance buddies that are starting need a sparring to win races to unlock stuff at LSC. For good weapons, car armor etc you need to get to high-ish levels.

Another (huge) mistake IMHO was forbidding people to do something. Forbid people to store something in a garage and they will find a way to prove you wrong. And Rockstar knows or should know that rare cars are an important part of the game for many of us. I remember guides about how tostore certain mission's cars back in Vice City and SA.

And then... For a company that even releases cheat codes as a combo of buttons, to not expect people to push it and glitch etc... Then they are underestimating and disregarding a part of their fan base.

The patch was a shame. They are the ones that are taking shortcuts and literally glitching our hard earned real money.

And the story mode is extremely short, it was entertaining but too short. Gta San Andreas was longer.
