ChillerVapes
I don't understand why some company hasn't by now made a new console... not a new platform to compete with playstation and xbox but to actually be compatible with both formats of games and also backwards compatible with all previous versions of the consoles. It would be the ultimate gaming machine, it can be done so why is it not out? They would get sued out of existance. Coleco Vision back in the day made an adapter where you can play Atari games and Atari didn't take too kindly towards it. I still have one from when I was a kid.I'm sure if a company had enough cash to buy the rights to use any format of game, the whole industry would change. Look at it this way, You can have any brand pc and run windows, and brand blueray player will play any blueray so why the fook can't we just buy any brand game machine to play games? It's a real bitch that PS and xbox won't agree to make the same format of games, get rid of the "on xbox only" or on playstation only" and simply merge the market and then the only rivalry would be putting the effort into having better hardware than the rivals or under cutting the rivals in a price war which would sell more units but at a smaller profit. If I ever won a double or triple rollover on the euro millions, something like £98mil ($165mil) I would seriously look into seeing if it was possible to shake the gaming world up. cholesterol
I understand the PS4 not being backwards compatible, but Microsoft has no excuse in that the 360 was pretty much exactly like a pc architecture wise and so is Xbox One. Off-Topic: The Xbox One is a total rush job, I mean come on only 720p for the launch titles? A console that is $100 dollars more expensive but has vastly inferior visuals? On top of that you state that the console is "too unstable right now to handle 1080p" as an excuse? (which should be the standard for this gen) How do you f*ck up this bad? Fuzzknuckles
Hum... PS4 reads some PS3 games... And thats for sure. Really? How does it cope with playing content designed for a very specific proprietary chip set that the PS4 doesn't have? Signatures are dumb anyway. Xbox, PS are all PC's under the hood, motherboard, processors, psu's etc.
kvic
You cannot play PS3 games on PS4, and you cannot play xbox games on xbox one. However, from what I gather, Sony (I'm not sure about Microsoft) will release a program that allows you to download old ps3 games to play. The Governor
Some people touched on it, but the PS3 architecture is extremely different than the PS4. The PS4 (and Xbox One) are pretty much PC's. The PS3 ran on a new "cell" technology, so making the PS4 backwards compatible would be very costly and drastically increase the PS4 price. But of course, the consumers loose out but you can't fault Sony. It's the exact reason they changed the PS3 and removed the hardware that allowed the PS3 to play PS2 games, so the new PS3's now emulate PS2 games through software. Why Xbox One isn't backwards compatible is beyond me. Both are similar to PC's and architecture, so I have no idea why.
stobe187
Because Sony and Microsoft are complete sh*ts, they've decided not to make the consoles backwards compatible. It's incredible. Possibly the worst decision in console gaming since Sony decided to remove it from the PS3. Actually, no. The worst decision in console gaming since the WiiU. It isn't backwards compatible because the PS4 has a different architecture that is a lot easier to program for. Such a bad move. And also don't forget that the original PS3 had a complete PS2 system-on-a-chip in it which in part made it f*cking expensive.

carmisa
I have seen posts on You Tube that say you CAN play 360 games on the xbox 1 by taking your HMDI plug out of the tv and putting it into your 360 and playing the games through your 360. You are telling the xbox 1 that your 360 is the tv and it will play the game.
CatDog96
I put my gta copy on the belt sander and made it smaller so it would fit in my gamecube, It increased the graphics and enhanced gameplay by 300% I suggest you try it.
