saintsrow
The game fell short in multiple aspects. But at least we have some cool videos to watch amiright guys You're almost bringing it down to their level now. Jeez, the responses to your OP were so freaking predictable. I too think that Rockstar / Housers / The Benz seem to be fantasizing themselves to be great moviemakers who happen to be using machinima rather than film. And the shame of it is, the GTA stories and scripts are just derivative mashups of numerous other actually good movies. I can forgive RDR for this, beacuse it was a successful video game paen to the spirit of classic and modern westerns. But I don't forgive GTA. I too think that Rockstar focuses too much of their resources and (attempted) creative energy on cutscenes at the expense of game design. And no how no way are Rockstar's vapid cutscenes as emotionally engaging as actual movies, or even well-made computer animated movies. I don't want to watch a video game, I want to play it. Especially one as beautiful as GTAV. And the scripted dialog in cutscenes and a lot of the dialog during drive-to's were riddled with cuss words to the point of being just rubbed in our faces (and I am not the first person on this forum tsay that). It reminded me of when Call of Juarez the Cartel came out and a review said it seemed like the dialog was written by a 10 your kid who just learned his first cuss words. I expected better from Rockstar. BTW, come to think of it, that game had 3 protags also. ChumCrumpet
I understand what you mean, but I wouldn't say the spend TOO much time on dialogue. Maybe GTA isn't the game for you? It's evolved from GTA 1 Race 'n Chase where you drive from point A to point B and do some random sh*t for points, to GTA III with a basic and linear story line but with the random missions in the side, to GTA V which is a story driven game. Most things you do are benificial to the arc of the story. I guess you best bet would be to give up on GTA and maybe go to Saints Row 3 and 4, if that's more of your cup of tea. Also. the cutscenes are a masterpiece.op smells Don't know why, but that made me LOL.

LiveApk25
Seriously who gives a f*ck I dont even bother to watch cut scenes half the time. If you love them that much that you need flawless voice acting go watch a f*cking movie. And let the GAME company focus on improving the GAMEplay and the GAME. All those hours, all those $$$. Revoltion
I know people game differently, but with a game like GTA dialogue is half the experience. What's the point in the story line with no dialogue - and you don't even watch half the cut scenes. If you don't want it, don't play the missions. Just go and piss about and have fun, but see how quickly that gets boring when you don't know WHY you're actually doing it. If the game was release with a list of missions you could do with no story line, just the mission, no dialogue, there would be a sh*t ton of complaints. Personally, (And I know not everyone will agree) the brilliant voice acting made the game for me. I like to be imerssed in a game - to a certain degree - when I play it. Driving from point A to point B in missions was made much more enjoyable because of the conversations between the characters. This must be your first GTA. I wonder if your parents actually loved you and sent you to school and gave you an education. There is plenty of dialogue in the game, I just think Rockstar didn't use the appropriate dialogue though. GTA V has minor set-backs, correct.. but you have to focus on which you have been given. You have the game so you should be happy.

He wants games that just go bang-crash-whoosh and you hold down the fire button and just point the analog stick forwards and you just, like, run and stuff, and like, shoot and stuff, until you've shot all the stuff then there's, like, a little bell noise and when you hear that bell noise there's like more stuff to shoot and stuff and when you've done with shooting all that stuff it just all starts again. UndraftedTalent
Maybe they should employ you, CrustyFapSock for the next iteration of the GTA series? You know, if you ever manage to figure out what dialogue and story means to video games. You complete and utter Frederick. You still don't get it. Cutscenes in general are not bad. But when they go so over the top with it that they start prioritizing them instead of the actual game there's a problem. Half of that $200 million would've given us a different game entirely. Fuzzknuckles
You complete and utter Frederick. Day = made. I played Pong the other day. SmoothGetaway
If dialogue cost them so much dev time and money, imagine what it cost to pay all those guys coding the game? Gnocchi Flip Flops
I so agree. Dialogue is pointless, who actually watches those f*cking cutscenes? Why would anybody care about that when they just want to play the game? I agree with Miamivi lets just go back to text boxes and no scenes. I think we'd all like that much better. That way V wouldn't have sucked so bad. SmoothGetaway
