Max
No we can't deny that with complete certainty, but there is even less proof that any game whatsoever has been fixed. Therefore, in the absense of any evidence it is logical to assume that all results are legitimate until proven otherwise. f*cking conspiracy theorists. James Rodriguez is a player. People saying that he'll go to one of the big boys are mistaken though. They were all interested last summer but he chose to go to Monaco for something like €45million and god knows what sort of contract he's on. He's not some gem who no one knew about before the tournament. Ari Gold

Fireman
Did the people saying that it's been "bought" for Brazil actually watch the f*cking game? They had a goddamn goal ruled out, and 1 or 2 50/50 penalty challenges turned down. If it has been bought then the people that bought it clearly didn't pay enough did they. They had some decisions go their way in the first game against Croatia but that's it. God I've never heard so much bollocks before in my life. The legit question is, did you read any posts that said that the game between Chile vs. Brazil was rigged, because I surely haven't read a single post on these forums that implied that. The only thing that came close was: However, many leaks were out about this WC being bought by the Brazilian FF and that the FIFA is giving them back. Which could've been about the group stage, the order in which matches were played or the setting up of the groups, but didn't seem to be about the Brazil, vs. Chile game. All the other comments were about wether or not Brazil deserved to win and about how awful Webb was at refereeing. Eutyphro
Webb was fine. People need to stfu. And about the group stage being 'rigged': Maybe the referees were just crap. You don't know. People make mistakes. As long as nobody can prove that the referee was influenced we'll have to assume he made a mistake. Dutchy3010
Goal of the tournament. You aint going to get better than that.It was a brilliant goal, but I still love the goal of Van Persie more (the dive, never seen a goal like that before!). Tonight Holland. I'm already a bit nervous. DYOM - Create, play, share!
Vercetti42
Okay to everyone screaming "RIGGED" you obviously don't watch football a lot. Man City had a lot of things going their way (like the referees) last season and they won the league but no one questioned it. Why? Because things like these happen. In the end Man City were the best team really as they played some attractive attacking football. It isn't an easy job being a ref. We have the replays, they don't. You have to make these decisions quickly you can't hang around. I'd like to see you try. In the end the best team will always win. It's always like that. These things are part of the game. Unless the decision is really stupid (like the 2002 WC) then there is no valid reason that the match is rigged. Doc Rikowski
It's a sad day because the WC is bought. If it was fair, Brazil wouldn't have even made it out of the group. Group A would've been - 1. Mexico 7, 2. Croatia 6, 3. Brazil 4 points. Brazil ripped Croatia in the opening game which should've gone 2:1 to Croatia fair and square. Everyone knows it. Brazil plays very bad football and I can't really believe we are gonna watch that in the quarter finals aswell. Please dude. That was one game and we're not even sure Brazil would have lost it if that penalty wasn't given. Anyway... --- Yeas, I'm still playing in our GTAF FF league. --- That goal by James, a masterpiece. Very similar to this one by Maxi Rodriguez in WC 2006 vs Mexico: But I like James' more. James Rodriguez is very much known in Portugal. He played 3 years in Porto where he scored 25 goals, won the league 3 years in a row, won the UEFA cup, 1 Portuguese cup, 3 Portuguese super cups. He went to Monaco cause his (in)famous agent João Mendes (same of Ronaldo and Falcão) is some kind of partner in Monaco. His price will sky rocket after the WC. Banks.
This whole thing about the tournament being fixed is really pissing me off. We had another brilliant game between Brazil and Chile which was literally a 50/50 end to end game yet some of the idiots still find a way to complain because Brazil won. 'OH BRAZIL WON ON PENALTIES SO IT'S FIXED, FIFA MADE THE CHILE PLAYER HIT THE BAR IN THE LAST MINUTE BY MIND CONTROL' Give it a rest and just enjoy it. I could understand if the match was dodgy in favour of Brazil but it was an excellent match where may I point out that Brazil had a disallowed goal. If it was fixed then surely that goal would of counted? Ari Gold
Vercetti42
And if Columbia beat Brazil, people will start conspiracy theories about whether FIFA had a dispute over Brazil over all this "fixing" and gave the cash to the referees to favor Columbia instead... Eutyphro
I don't think so. What is best for FIFA is Brazil winning this world cup and an Argentina - Brazil final. I think that that is the most commercially appealing scenario.

Nlwt
What yesterdays match proves is that the world cup definitely isn't fixed in favour of Brasil and probably not for any specific team for that matter. Specific matches might still be fixed though. We can't deny that with complete certainty. Anybody who thought it was in the first place is a complete tool anyway and clearly doesn't watch football on a regular basis. They had a couple of decisions go there way, like any team would in a game and everybody comes out with this "FIX" nonsense. Eutyphro
I disagree. Everybody knows FIFA is a deeply corrupt organization. They might have an interest in Brazil getting far, it being the host and a popular football country. It is not impossible for them to get favoured because of certain interests. Anybody who thinks that it is impossible for a host country getting favored towards the next rounds by a corrupt organization like FIFA is a complete tool.. Punk-in-Drublic
I always support Holland as my "second team" in International football, but I really like Mexico and enjoyed watching them in the group stages, I don't know who I want to win! Anybody who thinks that it is impossible for a host country getting favored towards the next rounds by a corrupt organization like FIFA is a complete tool.. Never said it was impossible. But the fact that Brazil had 2 or 3 big decisions go their way in the very first game and people go up-and-arms about it and rage because they are convinced there's corruption going on is almost laughable. I mean it's hard to even watch one World Cup game at this level without people being narrow minded accusing FIFA of wanting them to advance because they had a penalty decision go their way or whatever. ----------------------------- Anywho; James Rodriguez put on a stellar performance last night. I really enjoy watching Colombia play. They have some really underrated players that can do you damage. The first goal was just individual genius whereas the second goal was just fantastic team play. I'd like to see them get to the semi's but I guess that won't happen because they have to play Brazil and Brazil are going to win the World Cup due to it being a fix remember. Canoxa
The Mexican coach seems to be a cool guy. I laughed when I heard they call him "The Louse" in Mexico, what a nickname. It can be an affectionate name for someone of short stature. Messi is La Pulga, which translates as flea, for example. I'm happy for Colombia and for its players that play or have played in Porto. Yeah Colombia has been incredible. All the talk is about James Rodriguez and deservedly so, but Cuadrado looks equally amazing in my opinion, just without the goals. I think he's leading in assists with 4. And Colombia again had one of their corners taken back yesterday, which is really annoying because it appears to be perfectly legal. A player lightly touches the ball from the corner then casually walks away as another player comes and takes everyone by surprise by dribbling directly towards the box. Eram
Portuguese ref protecting Holland, this doesn't go along with the last 500y history! Don't get me wrong, though I always go for the underdogs, if I was the ref I'd also protect them... imo Holland must go through to defeat Brazil in the semis, otherwise Brazil'd reach the final without playing with any proper team... But imho, go Mexico as they are the only ones actually trying to win it. Edited June 29, 2014 by EramVerdes

Yeah Colombia have got a lot of talent, Cuadrado, as you said, has impressed, so has Jackson Martinez in my opinion. It'll be interesting to see how they get on against Brazil. The Mexico vs Netherlands game is cagey but I can forgive that because it does look f*cking hot where they're playing. Half the seats in the sun have been vacated by the spectators, it too hot to even sit there apparently, let alone play.
