Doc Rikowski
Holland is just toying with Australia, they gave them their brief moment of glory now sending them back into football limbo.

Eutyphro
Australia is Dutch Kryptonite. Statistics say we have never beat them before.. And they beat our hockey players recently in the world cup final. Edit: Wow, hats off to Australia... I'm glad we won. I hope Martins Indi is alright. Memphis Depay is my hero of the day. Shoumaker
Credit to Australia, they played very well. Well we expected them to play 3 matches and go home, well that's most likely what's going to happen but I feel they could have progressed if they were part of an easier group. Fireman
Maybe not the best game, but so f*cking exciting all the way to the end. Might just be because I'm Dutch though, but both teams kept on attacking, I thought it was great. Johnny Playert
FranklinDeRoosevelt
f*cking stoked Netherlands won. They stepped up their game BIG TIME in the second half, and Van Persie...oooohhh *drools*. Arjen Robben is a freak lol, his pace is INSANE. But credit to Australia because they gave them a good game for a while. My God is cahill a really good player. Kampioen
Good game. First half was really frustrating to me because the Dutch played terribly. Australia put up a very good fight in both halves. I'm glad we were able to eek out a win though but it was close. Australia could have easily won this one in an alternate universe. That handsball was not worth a penalty though. FranklinDeRoosevelt
Yeah I think that penalty was not the right decision, but it is a hard decision for the ref. If you looked at the replay, it's obvious he didn't mean to do it and hit his right arm which he swerved backwards. Kampioen
Coin
Quite a few negatives to take away from that, but no point dwelling on them at the moment. Went out to attack and try and win the game from the first off, where many other sides would have adopted much more defensive approach in the wake of Holland's first game. GTA_stu
Robben is so goddamn fast. The commentator in the Australia game said in the Spain game he broke the record for the highest speed a player has reached in a world cup, which was previously held by Theo Walcott. So that tells you something. As for the game, Australia can feel proud of themselves they played really well. They just don't seem to be able to keep it together the entire game or really take advantage when they do put the opposition under pressure. It was the same today as in the Chile game, they matched or even outplayed their opponents but couldn't get enough goals and then had periods were they were very poor defensively. Although I'm glad that didn't happen because red cards often ruin matches. Yeah, we did get a great match after that, though a nerve wrecking one if you supported one of either sides... I'm really happy with how 'my team' played in the second half. The 4 - 3 - 3 was a major difference. Thoughout the match we didn't make a lot of defensive mistakes. The main defensive mistake was by Vlaar when Australia got a major chance for 2 - 3 and the Dutch scored right after. The back up for Martins Indi is Kongolo who is very young, and not experienced enough to face a big opponent on a world cup. So we will have to wait and see whether we will be able to play 5 - 3 - 2 again against bigger opponents. Bruno Martins Indi supposedly has a concussion, so he'll be out for a week minimum. Coin
It was only ever a yellow card. Late, but otherwise nothing malicious about it. Just unfortunate that Bruno Martins landed awkwardly.
Kampioen
Wow, Australia is playing well. Maybe the Netherlands should make a few changes. Bring in Wijnaldum in stead of de Guzman and switch de Vrij for Depay or Lens You called it. It was only ever a yellow card. Late, but otherwise nothing malicious about it. Just unfortunate that Bruno Martins landed awkwardly. I saw it again just now, and that was definately a bad take down. He didn't go for the ball at all and just pounded Martins Indi in his side, flipping him as though he had been hit by a car. Eutyphro
Eutyphro
Late, but otherwise nothing malicious about it. That obviously wasn't true. You saw he was going for a charge. But I agree it was probably yellow. Martins Indi just had bad luck and landed on his head and now has a concussion. I think it would be good if Cahill apologized. I'm not saying it wasn't a bad challenge; just that there was no malicious intent there. Barring going in studs up, late challenges like that are never reds. It didn't look like he really inteded to hurt him, but he did intent to push Martin Indi away from the ball in a manner that's pretty dangerous. 3-2, not their best game, not by a long shot. GTA_stu
I'm guessing he wanted it for the prediction league. Holy sh*t that atmosphere. Probably not but sh*t happens. Pretty sure he'll be fine for the one after that and unless things turn out really weird, we don't have to win against Chile. Eutyphro
I think if Spain play well, not even necessarily near their best but just well, they should comfortably win. Spain struggled against both Chile and Paraguay in 2010 and won not because they were better but because they were more lucky. Why would it be an easy match this time? Don't underestimate Chile, they are good. The only reason Australia had a chance was because Chile has 5 foot 7 defenders.. LOL, Chile is good. 0 - 1 for Chile. Great goal. Ninja_Gear
New game tactic: Lets just aim at hands and nearly shoot their arms off for a nice free goal. Next game, everything will be aimed at hands instead of goals. We hit hands, HURRAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY AUSTRALIA! Was a tense game to watch though. Not a nice game though IMO. If NL keeps playing like this, i don't think they will make it far this worldcup. Maybe thats just me though. They seem to lose their focus on the ball a lot of time. If luck was on Australia's side, NL would have been owned this time. I hope the Dutch team steps up a notch next game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THsNK6cFyRo "world champions" Thats pretty bad though. Saw that one some time ago. Very odd crash.
