Auto Shotgun

I have noticed a couple of threads where the OP has moaned about people only using the auto shotgun in close combat.

I was playing a deathmatch last night, and someone over the mic commented about me doing the same thing.

Have I missed an unwritten rule regarding this? Is using the auto shotgun frowned upon or something!?

I find that sometimes, when people in video games are beaten, they call the other person "cheap" or blame their tactics. This makes them feel better about losing, as in "I would have won if it were a straight competition, one without unfair advantages!". Hell, I find myself thinking that sometimes, and i need to stop myself. "Would I sticky-bomb a car and then drive away at highest speeds to avoid a conflict with a bounty?" Sometimes, yes. It's cool, we all lose sometimes.

If you're too far away I use either MG or Carbine, depending on mood. If not, Assault Shotgun FTW. The only people who don't like it are the ones pulling lead out of their faces.

People are complaining about it because it's overpowered.

It happens quite often in video games. Especially shooters.

Its frowned upon by people that dislike it because of its ease of use. Most good players like having shootouts with assault rifles. And normaly when someone starts breaking out the auto shotgun everyone starts using it because you its very tough to beat at short/mid range when you have an assault rifle. You have to get an instant headshot or your basically dead.

Im talking free aim. Not sure what you play. basically its seen as a noob weapon that you break out when your getting owned

Would you stop using it if it was frowned upon?.

Nope.

Just befuddled why anyone wouldn't use the best weapon in the given situation.

I guess I'm looking for some logic or rationale by someone that doesn't approve of it.

It's an automatic shotgun. Should be pretty powerful. In RL there aren't "balancing" issues and video games should be the same. Sometimes, with certain weapons, one just has an advantage. Go off radar, kill them and drive the hell away if the auto shotgun is too scary. Or rank up and buy one.

Peoples often think the auto-shotgun is a cheap shot but every weapons have their use.

Auto-shotgun is when you are close because of it's bad reach.

Normal shotgun can be used in middle range and will often 1 shot npcs.

Sawn off shotgun is great at close range and can be used on bikes.

Auto-shotgun is an easy to use weapon but if your foe has a good aim with an assault rifle or machine gun then they can defeat you fast.

If your better than someone in gta, they'll always try make excuses wh you beat them.

I was one my own and I had to face a 5 man team, I beat them with the auto shottie and they said I was a noob, even though they outnumbered me 5:1

I'm rank 155. I have one.

I was merely giving an answer to a question.

OP asks why people complain about an overpowered weapon. The answer is because it's overpowered.

It's generally frowned upon to kill someone in a death match with any gun. Doing so means you are considered a cheater and a noob by the person you killed.

I still take exception with the "overpowered" descriptor, I think it is made as powerful as it should be. If it was explosive, radioactive or magical I would agree. I hate the tanks, but i think they aren't overpowered. A tank is a pretty powerful thing... don't you watch "Walking Dead"?

What you and hitman say make sense and I guessed that would be the reason. However, if you then take the logic further, where do you stop? Some people might think rifles are too easy to kill with, and pistols should be used to reflect ability.

Everyone's definition of 'cheap' or 'OP' is arbitrary...

I think a better question is should you care about unwritten rules? Play the game your way, and forget about other's bitching. Cause most times it's just sour grapes.

Not really. Of course some of it is subjective (what weapon each player prefers) but when a majority of the community is complaining about one specific weapon, it's because it's overpowered in comparison to the other options. It's unbalanced. If a majority of a community is using 1 weapon much more than any other, it's usually because it's overpowered or unbalanced.

The developers job is to create a variety of weapons which all have their own specific strengths and weaknesses and provide a wide range if options. Not to create a single weapon which out-performs all others.

Having said that, the shotgun doesn't excel at long range combat obviously.

GRINCH ASS BITCH

I feel pretty scummy after getting a kill with it, even if my opponent was using one, too. Brings me back to my Planetside days where after about 3,000 kills with the Nighthawk (autoshotty), I realized how much of a scrub I was for using it.

He did, but that tank made some holes.

Scrub(as defined by TLC): Noun \Scr-ub\ A scrub is a guy that can't get no love from me; Hanging out the passenger side; Of his best friend's ride; Trying to holler at me; With an auto-shottie.

Take cover, blindfire throw a grenade or tear gas to lead them out. Then blindfire some more but with a gun this time. Problem solved.

Not seen as a noob weapon you break out when you're getting owned? Yesterday, I had a full lobby on concrete deathmatch and it lasted a hour. I used only my assult rifle and auto shotgun. I won that game 140 something to 60 something deaths. Everyone else was negative and in 2nd place someone had 50 something kills. I wasn't getting owned or broke it out because I was. Infact, I obtained 2.5x RP killstreak and got about atleast a 30 killstreak before I finally died when I fell off the roof. I auto-shottied anyone that was close and rifled anyone from afar.

This reminds me of COD all over again when someone 1 v 1'd me and I used concussion and flashbangs and then shot them with my MSMC.

Is this The Guy?

Its the weapon to use if you want to win in close quarters.

If you got it flaunt it.

Kind of reminds me of the MW2 online grenade launcher lol. People would scream bloody murder when they were killed by that
