Why do cars explode when they crash into a tank?

They been doing it in gta so long its just tradition i suppose

 

would be nice to obliterate vehicles with the tank without having them blow up, i'd probably get a tank in that case

Completely agree I'd get one if that were the case too.

I drove out of LSC with my Cheetah and the tank just dove straight over me and crushed the car.

I lost my front wheel and car was crush so low my head was higher that the roof
