Why do cars explode when they crash into a tank?

Would this even happen in real life?

 

What's the different between crashing into a tank or crashing into a solid concrete building? Because the latter doesn't blow your car up.

 

Come to think of it, any real footage I've seen of tanks hitting or running over cars, they never explode, they just get damaged or crushed.

 

I call bullsh*t.

 

It's similar to how cars used to set on fire when you rolled them over in the older GTA games, they need to get rid of this crap.

They been doing it in gta so long its just tradition i suppose

 

would be nice to obliterate vehicles with the tank without having them blow up, i'd probably get a tank in that case

Also, Its also why on Monstertruck shows, they always crush cars with empty or removed gas tanks ect.

It was helpful, if you want realism, you're playing the wrong game. Have you also noticed that in RL people don't respawn after getting shot/blown up/stabbed/ran over? Have you noticed that? In RL people actually die FOREVER, instead of respawning at the hospital a few grand worse off. Strange that, isn't it? It's almost as if it's not real, like it's some kind of computer game. Very strange.

They explode, most likely out of the movie logic that GTA just revels in. "Every Car is a Pento"

 

Frankly, I'm a tad disappointed that vehicle damage is drastically nerfed from Singleplayer. I would like to completely bust up my car without having a friend with a tank bang on the roof a few times to get what i want.

I think it was to make the game feel "more GTA" or classic towards the series. Ever since the original, using a tank would blow up the cars.

I think it would be more fun if they at least didn't explode every time, maybe you hit one going 100mph or if it actually drives right over you. It could be a decent way to nerf tanks without ruining them completely.

Cars that don't have Armor upgrades can easily be beat to sh*t using any melee weapon. Any stock vehicle will get heavily damaged with a bat, golf club or crow bar.

 

But if you have armor upgrades on the vehicle, it's going to withstand a beating....as intended.

They can actually explode in real life. In gta v not every vehicles exploded in 1 second. If you hit hard then prolly it's gonna explode.

Cars in GTA explode when the engine is damaged, by bullets or by hitting something hard. A tank crushing a car severly dammage the engine, and guess what is the result?

While OP makes a valid point, you can't argue that if it wasn't for exploding vehicles tanks would be a lot harder to kill. Half the time, tanks take damage from running over AI cars by accident or bad driving and eventually it catches up with them when fighting against players.

 

If tanks were patched as you suggest OP, then the forums would fill with cries about how a tank is even harder to kill now because cars no nothing to them.
