Im just worried all they have lined up for us to spend our money on is new cars from the dlcs, causing us to replace ones weve already spent millions on.

This would seem to be implied by the pink slip racing dlc, dont know what to do with your millions from the heist dlc? buy upgrades and lose cars in a pink slip race dont worry just do another heist replace car rinse and repeat!

Yeah, it's a f*cking computer game dude, what do you expect? Seriously?

I agree with One Poor Fool. There aren't enough long-term goals in GTA:O. Everyone bought the high-end apartment when the cash incentive came through (if they hadn't already bought it before hand.) Most people have ten custom cars filling their maxed-out garages.

Rockstar want this game to last people years. But after two months, some people have legitimately maxed out what this game has to offer. They are not saving for anything.

With nothing else to aim for, Heists will become a short-term distraction because the money will be meaningless.

I expect more from this computer game.

Really? You expected more from a $50 current-gen computer game? Really?

How many hours have u put into GTA Online? No-lifers have played this game too much, hence the "im lvl120, what now?" threads.....If you've played this game constantly since release and now you're bored, go figure.

EDIT I remember when I played Warcraft, they'd release a new pack raising the level cap and within a couple days some sad sacks would have finished it already, and be complaining that they're bored again.

Rockstar could improve the longevity of this game without having to totally rewrite it. Here are some ideas that are very "doable" on current-gen.

  • Add skill trees with specialist roles. i.e. Sniper role and associated skill tree. Choose sniper role, build sniper skill and perks, rather than a simple generic "Shooting" skill (which everyone now has 100/100 - nothing left to aim for.)
  • Greater range of property prices. Cheap trailer vans or hovels at $5,000 and absolute top-end properties to cost $20m or $30 million. Very nice properties to remain at $100k to $200k. Top-end properties with massive garages to be something to aim for. (Currently 90% of people own the top-end apartment.)
  • Rare vehicles and items. Things like Buzzards spawn for everybody once they reach a certain level. It makes purchasing one a boring and almost pointless prospect so people don't aim for it. There should be ridiculously expensive yachts, purchasable helipad spawn points or airfields. Everything should cost money to unlock, increasing longevity.
  • Direct people to play Jobs in a more focused way. Have a Job-Ladder for each character. Move along the ladder, jobs get ticked off as complete. People are completists, they like to go through lists. Current system is messy and doesn't show what jobs are completed and there are no rewards for completing them (apart from standard RP and cash - boring.) Give people lists to complete - something to aim for.
  • Also, re: lists: Mark Gang Wars as complete on the map, mark completed stunt jumps on the map. Store robberies already get marked as complete, why not other events that R* have already built into the game.
  • Tighten up all the mini games and menu systems. Faster, sleeker systems. Tennis - less waiting between serve while players shuffle into positions. Golf - shorten shot time. Races - shorten vote time and time between races. Etc etc. This will get people doing the various activities more often, increasing longevity.

It's all very well being asked to use your imagination (and you certainly can do that in GTA:O) but GTA V single-player doesn't ask you to use your imagination, it dazzles you with creativity and ideas. Obviously multi-player is a different experience but ideas like those above would give far greater long-term appeal, and it's not exactly asking for the world.

Although a persistent GTA Online should be asking for the world...literally!

NB: Los Aztecas - My personal style of play is slow and steady. Despite receiving the half million cash incentive and playing for 5 full days, according to my stats, I'm currently level 45ish, haven't bought the top end apartment yet, own only two cars (an Elegy and a beach-bum van!) and am still working through the game at my own pace. I'd be happy if I couldn't buy the top-end apartment until 2014 but the fact is I've had the money for quite a while, if I want to get everything. I'm not bored because I've done everything, I'm disappointed in the lack of direction and long-term targets.
