I love GTA Online, but I don't like how R* is promising us all kinds of new content and then just goes quiet. The last real update was two weeks ago, when the Beach Bum pack arrived. Slightly before it released, R* said they would release info about heists, CTF and content creator "soon", which they've been blurting out since release.

I wouldn't mind waiting for this content at all if they'd just release some info on it every now and then, it just seems like they've already forgotten about the new content. Everyone is asking about it, why not show a couple of screenshots about a heist or CTF to keep the folks happy? All my friends have moved on because the new content isn't showing up, and each time I check the newswire it is just another useless "photo post".

I feel that GTA:O does not have the typical polish or attention to detail that I've come to expect from a GTA game. But I do feel that GTA:O was packaged "free" with GTA V, which is the best game - most highly polished and detailed - I've ever played.

If I had paid an extra £40 for GTA:O then I'd feel conned, but I've not felt that way one iota, even with the initial server problems.

R* may have dropped the ball by not beta-testing GTA:O but then again, they freely admitted it would likely be problematic in the first weeks. They probably didn't expect things to be as bad but they asked us to be patient.

My only real problem is the logical decisions they have made to the gameplay mechanics. Choosing to have a rudimentary blips on the radar multi-player system is the worst thing but every single game mechanic seems untidy and unfinished at the moment. Especially when compared to the highly polished single-player mechanics.

I'm really hoping for a full reboot to GTA:O (and particularly free-roam) because if this is it, for the future, then that would be R* truly dropping the ball.

Not trying to blindly defend Rockstar here but you try and find another full console game that offers new content more regularly than every two weeks. Just have some patience, it will come.

Mass effect 3 released tons of new DLC free of charge every few months. They also spoke with the community at all times. Rockstar are a joke, accept it.

Do you not know what "soon" means? If they said soon, they are not dropping the ball. You will get your information in about 4-8 more months.

According to here it was on average every two months with a few exceptions, it's been what? 2-3 weeks since Beach Bum....

Oh and if that page is correct, only one of them was free and that was just "Cinematics" which I'm guessing means extra cut scenes lol. Most of the others were just extra weapons, big whoop.

Edit: OK I missed the multiplayer section actually, but still, never more frequently than every month.

I am not expecting them to release a full DLC pack every two weeks, I'd just like to know what they are up to. Before release they talked about the Content Creator being released "a few weeks" after GTA Online launching. It's now 2 months later and on this point I am wondering why we haven't heard a release date or haven't seen anything other than leaks yet.

It's pretty clear to me that if they release the Content Creator, lots of people will come back to GTA Online to see what wacky stuff other players have come up with. Why not make people look forward to it to encourage them coming back to your game?

Uhm... I'm pretty sure the game's only a few months old. GTAO, less so. And they've released 6 patches, the Beach Bum DLC, and are getting heists and the content creator ready.

Also, Rockstar has probably one of the better feedback and reporting systems I've seen on a title this large.

So, yeah. Your example there is a joke.

No I don't.

I think Rockstar just needs to build some momentum, let's face it. the game is still new and there are some bugs still, they have rolled out 1 DLC which is good. Now all we have to do is wait and let them fix the bugs and then DLC will come rolling in.

The same message also contains updates regarding the future multiplayer DLC for the open-world action-adventure video game. The company is planning to add the Heists, Capture the Flag and Content Creator in the “weeks and months ahead.” You can check out a few screens from the campaign and multiplayer sections of “GTA 5” in the slideshow to the left of this article and the details on the upcoming downloadable contents below (courtesy of Rockstar Games):

  • The Content Creator - The Content Creator will launch with tools to tailor and publish your own Deathmatches & Races.
  • Capture the Flag - GTA Online’s take on the classic CTF mode including the ability to make your own using The Content Creator.
  • Heists - Full-on cooperative Heist missions that will require careful planning, teamwork and sharp execution – along with the Heist Planning Board for your apartment.

Heists, Capture the Flag and Content Creator were initially scheduled to appear within the first several weeks of the multiplayer launch. However, the releases were delayed due to unexpected problems that popped up in the online mode. Out of the three DLC, a majority of players have been clamoring to try out the cooperative heist missions the most.

Rockstar Games released the first expansion, the Beach Bum Pack, last week for free. Although the company recently hinted that there will be paid DLC in the future for “GTA 5,” the aforementioned Heists, Capture the Flag and Content Creator won’t require a fee.

Also worth noting, one of their updates say "coming this fall", which would mean this content would be released 20th of December at the latest. But there have been reports pre-launch that it would be included at launch by Rockstar as well, so yeah.

Weeks and months ahead

That really is open to interpretation...

They did originally say that they could have released the custom builders at launch, on October 1st, but they didn't want to overwhelm people with too much at once.

They also said that nobody would complete all the (500ish) Jobs available. From this, I imply that they meant the custom builders to be released within the first weeks so that nobody could conceivably rank up and play all the R* built jobs available.

They may not have given a strict timetable but they did imply a few weeks.

Dude its been exactly 13 days since they gave us a free dlc.. the game came out two months ago and there has been an 6 updates already. You can't be serious by saying R* isn't working. GTA is also more of a single player game, yes this is very new to GTA by having all these additions in online. GTA 4 did not have 10% of what this game has. They also said they plan for GTA 5 to be around for atleast 4-6 years. They aren't going to just drop all the fun stuff day 1. I'd be more than surprised if they come out with heists before summer. They "could" include a mall, more cars, a gym, more weapons, a casino, hiests, more activities, and so much more. You just gatta wait dude

Uh if you bought the game new it was free... the single player was great too unless you're one of the sheep horde that think the ending ruined everything about ME. ME3 online was more fun than GTA:O will probably ever be if R* keeps going at this pace.

So you are arguing that the greedy EA c*nt tactic which has single handedly ruined the entire used game market to the point where stores dont even sell them anymore.. is a good thing?

Putting in codes with games so that you cant get the full game used is so f*cking cheese, its one massive reason I wont be buying a console ever again, mixed with sony charging for online while admitting they didnt even have to. I have owned almost every console back to Atari excluding jaguar and dreamcast... and wii, sh*t was lame.

When I have a kid, all his/her friends will laugh because they wont have any of the technology their friends have, Ill have a grudge against every single tech company by then and refuse to buy their products.

yeah but mass effect 3 was broken single player for some like myself and we couldn't continue our character from the previous 2 games (wich is a huge disapointment and ruined the experience for me and others). and they just ignored us. so result is you're a dick and you're argument is flawed..

i never heard of a mass effect online pass it was all free for me and the online was fun for a while.

It actually only says races+deathmatches+CTF

I doubt there will be that much customization tbh.. I wouldnt doubt they do something really cheesy like only allowing use of preset map spots.. as in.. pick a square over the map, theres your deathmatch.

You can be damn sure the races arent going to be able to be custom built, simply waypoints... chances are done in a restrictive way also, so that you cant place them on buildings and such.

not even confirmed for PC yet(i've been waiting for that for 6 months so far)

so why do you think you're entitled to weekly progress reports?

All I am saying is that it would be nice if they'd communicate when we can expect to see more stuff. I started out with a group of 8 friends and every single one of them moved on because they didn't feel like there was anything left to do, and with no updates on the content that WOULD keep them playing, they just left and haven't touched the game in weeks. For a game that is 2 months old, that used to have launch problems because of 2 million people logging in at the same time, that is shocking.

Go to any game site talking about GTA Online and most people in the comments will talk about having abandoned GTA Online because they found it boring doing the same races and the same missions over and over.

I don't feel entitled to have these updates, as I am still having fun with the game. However, I am having fun with a Cargobob I am not supposed to have and a police vehicle that will disappear as soon as I enter my garage. So I get where these people are coming from. They have an apartment, 10 vehicles, now what? They have done all missions, all races, and now everything is nerfed too. There's a content creator coming "soon" but there hasn't been info on it for weeks or months, how are those players supposed to keep coming back to GTAO if they have nothing to look forward to, and everything else they have done is "been there, done that"?

The game is 2 months old.

That's what alot of you complaining about Rockstars involvement and the lack of new content don't understand. They cant release new exciting content every week, and if they did it wouldn't be alot of content and people would just complain "man this week we didn't get sh*t".

The thing about Rockstars Open World games is that they intend to make the game last very long. IV, which was their first attempt at a real open world multiplayer was played regularly by many up until V's release, even with all the modders, freezers, and the fact that free roam had nothing to do but kill each other and roleplay.

Rockstar knows about multiplayer now, and so now they can experiment and add content and increase the longevity of the game even more. But the problem is the fanbase is impatient and need to realize, just because Rockstar is quiet for a few weeks doesn't mean they've abandoned ship on the game, I gurantee you that. But their PR department has nothing to say because they are still working, and so you typically don't hear much until it's time for something to be said. We are 2 months in, IV had nothing to it and lasted 6 years.

The players just need to be patient, let Rockstar work out the bugs and develop the content.

I'd love weekly progress reports but it'll never happen because it'd just open R* up to even more unconstructive criticism. It'll happen when it happens and keeping the players in the dark, while frustrating, is probably a good idea.
