How does the Storyline in V Hold up to more serious crime games like s

would you say its better? worse? im in 2 minds part of me thinks its better due to the dialogue being lot better written and not being cliche the other part of me thinks games like sleeping dogs and mafia 2 < mafia in particular are more focused and don't need the corny gimmicks that V Has so how would you say V Compares to its more serious open world counterparts in terms of storyline?

 

the title is f*cked so just to clarify im comparing the storyline in v to Sleeping dogs and mafia 2

If it had been Mafia 1, I'd agree with your conclusion. But Mafia 2 was extremely dissapointing, especially when you compare it to Mafia 1.

Tbh i would agree that mafia 2 did have a better story its the most Underrated game this gen IMO and i would say sleeping dogs Also had a slightly better Story.

 

off topic but As far as the Overall games go i would say Mafia 2 was the best out of the three IMHO And V And sleeping dogs are about on par with Each Other.

Honestly? I think Sleeping Dogs and Mafia II both have better stories. GTA V's story is alright, but I've seen better. It's better than the Saints Row games, but that's not saying a lot.

Mafia II has a better story than Sleeping Dogs. And yeah, I do think it is the most underrated game of this gen. :|

The thing though is that games like Sleeping Dogs & Mafia II strive to be realistic, dark and serious.

 

GTA, on the other hand, does have it's realistic, dark and serious moments, but it is also a parody of American culture and does have a lot more humour injected into it. It's a game with a story & characters that you don't really take seriously, yet at some parts of the story, you do.

 

That's the best I can explain my thoughts.

Mafia 2 by a mile, followed by Sleeping Dogs then V

 

I also thought Mafia 1's story was better than 2's and the addition of getting to whack 1's protagonist (unfortunately like V, we don't get to do the actual killing) added to the sorrow within Mafia 1 and 2's stories.

 

V's story was shallow to say the least

Never played Mafia 2 but I definitely prefer Sleeping Dogs' story to GTA V's.

this is a bad poll for 2 reasons

 

1.) because you are assuming gta v isnt the worst.

 

2.) gtav is so much different that those 2 games. gtav isnt meant to be "serious" when it comes to "crime"

GTA V has IMO better dialogue than Sleeping Dogs, but it wasn't meant to be a serious game so it doesn't hold up when taken as seriously. Never played Mafia 2... trying to get into Mafia 1 but the controls are awful.

Where's the option "Not better than either Sleeping Dogs or Mafia 2", because that's what I would've rather chosen. The story in 5 (if you could even call it that) is pathetic just like 90% of the characters including two of the protagonists (and I don't have to tell you which ones). I found them unbearable and couldn't force myself to care anything about them or the story. Especially not after playing SD.

Bad poll. I think the story is worse than both games in the sense of being a crime story. However, I think the narrative trumps both games in any sense.
