The Showroom: Bollokan Prairie

Good midnight everyone. People might be getting sick of this topic but there's still plenty more vehicles to cover so let's get started: The Bollokan Prairie

 

 

Background/Design

• Civilian
• 2 person Compact Car
• Only in GTA V
• Stealable

There's not much real background on this car other than the fact that it's influenced by the second generation Hyundai Coupe. Although there are speculations that it might be related to the Jester from past GTA titles.

 

Speed - 6.0

I have to admit, for a small car I was expecting it to have a good acceleration speed but sadly it does not. On the bright side it can actually reach really good top speed, it just has trouble recovering after a crash.

 

Handling - 6.5

The Prairie handles pretty well, it's not the best but it's definitely not the worst. The small short body makes it good for car chases or escaping from the cops. Just be careful if you end up crashing, much like the phoenix it has a slippery time getting started as well.

 

Overall Rating - 5.0

The Prairie doesn't really have anything special to bring to the table, it has good speed but so do other Compacts.It handles well but getting an Issi is far more superior. It places last out of all the Compact cars and it clearly shows that

I had one a short time ago. Nice little car with okay mods but, speed and handling turned me off. Sold it for a Balista.

The paint, metallic lime green, looks better outside of the garage tho.

 

I choose this one for its look, not its performance, otherwise in my opinion the Blista is better. But I really like the Hyundai Coupé in real life, and I rather having a compact that looks like a coupe / sport car than like a compact actually.
Just a personal preference.

 

Never had the chance to do any real races with it (since most hosts chooses to not allow custom vehicles for compact category, because lot of people don't own a compact, it wouldn't be "fair" in their opinion... but that's not my problem if you don't own a compact in a compact race and prefer having 4 supercars...)

I have this car and I love it. I drive a crappy Hyundai in real life and would love to own a Hyundai Tiburon, so I have one in game. Next best thing

 

This car drives pretty nicely other than the ridiculous amount of wheelspin on takeoff which can make recovering from a crash sloppy. Not very useful for compacts races either because the Issi is better and no one does them to begin with. I still love it. Kept the look simple, akin to how I would do it if I owned one of these in reality.

 

Apologies for the crappy off-the-TV picture. Snapmatic absolutely refuses to work no matter what I do.

OT: I'm quite surprised that people actually have this car, considering it's a new car for the GTA series and the fact that not a lot of people usually talk about it.

 

On that note the prairies are lookin awesome!

Yeah they're actually pretty hard to come by, but I think (im not sure) it's one of the cars that simeon asks for.

i hate the prairie, HATE IT. same w the mitsu eclipse. when i started playing, from a distance i always mistook them for something nicer. 'hey what was that' then turn around and drive into parking lot and D'OH! drove me nuts.

I agree, it's a nice car. I only got rid of mine because Simeon would ask for one which would mean I had to spend about 30 seconds (sometimes more) getting to LSC just to lose the cops. That wouldn't annoy me as much if it didn't tell me the moment I lost them that "Simeon doesn't want personal vehicles".

 

Sorry for that little off-topic rant (damn Simeon). But yes, it is a nice car, it looks a bit...tacky, in my opinion, with the carbon hood and roof mods.

I'm a car enthusiast as well. I don't like Hyundai and Kia because they have absolute no history behind their name (motorsports wise) except for copying other manufacturers, buying out other manufacturers designers, and their crap reliabliy/materials. /end rant.

Well, you can't really blame them, since they were government/military owned manufacturers who could only make light trucks and service vehicles for most of their lifespan. Alfa Romeo was the same way.

Well the thing is when it comes to car companies they try really hard to cater to every target market out there, but will always have one primary market that they handle. Saying this, Hyundai cars might not make you happy as a person that needs a vehicle for everyday needs, but that's because that's not where their strength is in making such vehicles.

 

Same thing with Volvo, sure their cars are nice... but their trucks are even better because that's where their main focus is.

As for requests, just send me a PM about it. There are tons of people that are pming me to request certain cars, but as you can tell I'm kind of pressed for time in my daily schedule considering I have work/school and the holidays to worry about but I'll do my best to make sure these showroom topics keep flowing out.

At the moment there's usually one showroom topic coming out every night so at least there's that.

From the 90s until recent their reliablity has been bad, i say now because we can't really tell about long term reliability just yet. But it takes a lot of stupidity to make crappy cars and then keep making crappy cars for the next 25 years.

 

I'm big on motorsports, alfa has been taking things they've learned from racing and put them to work in their passenger cars. Volvo has a superior build quality that I can only assume came from their truck building. If hyundai wants to bring it's reputation out of the garbage they'll need to produce some revolutionizing sh*t, and on their own, not by buying out engineers. The fact that they are even growing by the help of other car manufacturers designers is disgusting. Way to mooch to make a buck.

Wow, well Hyundai defintely dug a hole on their own. As for that advertising part, it sucks that most agencies get thrown under the bus for doing that... I mean I'm pretty sure that's what Hyundai wanted and they got the crappy end of the stick as well.

Either way Hyundai has never really made an impact in the industry, no phenomenal breakthroughs within their products or anything.
