Niko was my favourite GTA protag of all time before V released, but Michael has a really interesting story too, and he don't f*ck around. And then there's Trevor - the most hilarious and entertaining thing to happen to GTA imho. Franklins pretty chill too. I honestly can't answer this. But Max Payne wipes the floor with all of them anyway, so... Let's be honest, we need a Max Payne + GTA crossover. It would be amazing. It's pretty cool how you can make Michael look like Max Payne with the Hawaiian shirt and shaved head 'n all, but it's still not the same. Franklin eh, not so much, I think the only bad story was that he moved in with his auntie and his long time girlfriend left him for some doctor or something because she didn't like his gangbanging. And, Any one of the big 3 > Bellic. He was so f*cking whinny. It was like: Ped1: "Good evening sir, and welcome to Burger S--" Niko: "I KILLED PEOPLE AND I REGRET IT\n" Ped1: "...shot? Um, what would you have tonight, sir?" Niko: "I WILL HAVE SATAN BECAUSE I AM A HORRIBLE HUMAN BE-- hold on, let me kill everyone in the restaurant real quick with my grenade -- ING!" He never got off his soapbox and the free roam killed the consistency of his personality. He doesn't care at all about who he kills, relationships, or anything. He is only in it for the money, and maybe not even that. Tommy was only in it for the money as well. He was willing to bond with people, but at the same time could throw them away easily like he did with Rosenberg. Niko can be considered a psychopath because he has occasional bouts of rage. His issue is more PTSD than an actual mental illness, but it's very similar to being a true psychopath. Trevor is mentally unstable. His violent outward personality is being used to conceal his frightened, immature inner personality. Unlike the other protagonists, Trevor can be broken down truly easily. Proletariat Posted December 4, 2013 Share Posted December 4, 2013 Let's get this straight: My fav GTA Protag- Tom Vercetti Now, Niko or Big 3 Personally, I loved Niko's depth and his experience with the American Dream, but at the same time I love Michael's experience with the American Reality. Both complement each other very well. I loved Trevor's craziness, wittyness when it came to satiring controversial American issues, and loved Franlkin for being intelligent and having some style. For me, I look at the story, character development, satire, symbolism, and allegory in stories very carefully before making a decision on who I like the most. In terms of character development, it's obviously Niko Bellic. In terms of funny yet though-provoking remarks, I'd go with Michael. You just can't say one character is better than the other. When the writers write the story and make the characters, they make them in such a way as to indirectly send a message. Each character in the GTA V series does that very effectively. I hate when people can just say one is better than the other. I loved GTA V's story solely for its satire of the AMerican Reality and superficiality of SoCal. I loved the tension between Michael and Trevor, but in terms of a good story, Niko's was FAR MORE captivating. For me GTA IV and GTA V are pretty equal. I am not nitpicky about content, graphics, interiors, DLCs like other idiots on this forum (because that is their sole criteria for judging a game). Tomy1986 Posted December 4, 2013 Share Posted December 4, 2013 Despite that I enjoy V infinately much more than IV, I have to admit that Niko Bellic's story is the best of these four characters. By the end of the game, you really get to know Niko and the things that he did in the past, things which deeply affected him and that still come back to bite his arse during the events of IV. He's a well-written character; his story is beautiful and tragic. The Big 3, on the other hand, don't seem to get much love in their writing. They suffer serious out-of-character moments, and their background stories are not that special or intense as Niko's. I'm not saying that the Big 3 are awful or ass-written, just that Niko's story was better in my opinion. Going mano a mano, I think Niko would own the show too... I mean, he is a scarred war veteran. And if this doesn't convince you, he knows Krav Magá. Michael isn't fit enough to fight him for a long time. Franklin could take a decent beating before getting knocked out, but he would eventually lose due to Niko's technique. And Trevor, despite going berserk and feeling little to no pain, he would also fail to win because of Niko's fighting style. Trevor would be a tough cookie to crack, though. I think he would cause Niko a lot of damage before falling to the ground unconcious, as well as lasting longer than Michael and Franklin on the fight. aln456 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Niko definitely gave you a story on That One Protagonist. For GTAV, the story simply wasnt about the individual and it wouldnt have held up with one individual. He is the only character that wasn't really "bad" and actually cared about not killing random people(save for whatever we all do in our free time playing as him). Compared to Michael, Trevor, and Franklin, Niko was the only character that I really CARED for, while in GTA5, no matter which character, the while point was to either escape, get revenge, or get tons of $$$.
