You think R* has ever considered scrapping GTA:O?

Rockstar already made the big money. Mucho profit already in the bank, with no future costs except minor production costs . But online is continuing to cost them money. I would not be surprised if there is management discussion and maybe even argument about whether GTA0 will ever have a positive return on investment. I put a post in another thread that is relevant here:

If I were the Rockstar / TTWO Chief Financial Officer, I would be saying, "We just made a billion dollars in three days. Lots of suckers are going to keep buying the game thinking that single player is worth $60, so that's free money for us. But this GTA0 is just a money pit. Let's cut our losses and bury this turkey now. Power down the servers sell the whole goddamned cloud data center on eBay."

That would be bad business and probably one of the most unlikely scenarios to happen.

They would have already done a ton of budgeting before starting their online version of the game. There is evidence in this with the decision on micro-transactions. Worst case scenario: less people play than expected and they slow down their dlc packs and work more on GTA VI. ;)

1 billion made in first day. People will be playing this game for years mate.

Why the hell would R dump it?

Or more importantly..

Why and how the f*ck do you figure they'd even entertain the thought of dumping their biggest ever success?

dumb thread is troll

GTA Online their biggest ever success? Are you trolling or just stupid? At the rate it's going, it'll turn in to what GTA IV online is in a few months, barely anyone playing.

GTA 5 being their biggest success. GTA Online is a part of GTA 5. He's not trolling, you're just being biassed and expecting GTA Online to be a loss.

At this point, I doubt the BAWSAQ ever launches the way it was originally intended. Too many billionaires out there now.

Have to say, the last thing I'd be logging onto GTA: Online to do would be the BAWSAQ.

I might use it to try and increase my money but I won't be logging on three of four times a day, every day, to try and make a fortune.

Tennis and golf are actually quite fun - but they need to polish them up and give them some longevity. Tennis is slow and glitchy but if they speed up the bits in-between rally's and put in a competition system (where you play one match and win to progress up a ladder, next time you log on you can play a next match against a harder player, in a Grand-Slam tournament style) then I'd play tennis. Same with golf, off-shot mechanics could be made more fun, on-shot time-limit shortened and I'd personally add a hook/slice mechanic (based on shot timing) so that you don't always hit the perfect line. Then add a similar competition system to the tennis, that runs over real time days. With just small changes to these systems, I'd play them much more regularly.

I feel the same about most systems in GTA:O - small adjustments would make them so much more fun. Therefore I think R* will add more polish in time and then the game should be much more essential.

By April 2014 R* will have abandoned GTA Online.

They've made their money, there is no reason to fully support the game now. They will probably release Heists around January/Feb but after that the game will be toast.

Their main concern(secondary to glitching) should be getting the BAWSAQ back up as its an incentive for people to log on daily or even several times a day, extended periods.. so they can keep track of ups and downs and profit from it.

By doing this, people will be playing more and really be spending more money on cash cards.. because the game will have more meaning.

True, but that's never going to happen unless they rid the game of any and all money making glitches. The BAWSAQ is suppose to work with the in-game economy, which at the moment is none existent due to players earning illegitimate money.

IMO we need the Content Creator, Heist, and more missions (character jobs) sooner than BAWSAQ.

There is no ECONOMY seeing as you can't buy/sell to/from other players.

Therefore the economy is NON EXISTENT!, if you buy up all the ammo in ammunition and I run in after that, I can still buy all the ammo I want, therefore money has no proper influence on others.

Therefore people glitching money are NOT affecting you AT ALL so therefore I suggest you keep your mouth shut about sh*t you don't know anything about.

I very much doubt this.

R* have continuously stated their commitment to GTA:O and, although unconfirmed, it is extremely likely that a next-gen version of GTA:O will be released. Reasons why?

1) Next-Gen GTA:O will make another billion dollars. Next-Gen has now been released. It would be extremely remiss of Rockstar to have not planned for this. They delayed GTA V for six months but now the timing seems pretty inspired. A March-time or Summer-time Next-Gen GTA:O would sell hugely.

Erm...I'm not sure any other reasons are required but personally, I believe that Rockstar have integrity and ambition. GTA:O may feel a little bit like a Beta-trial at times but I think that they'll follow through with their statements and commit to GTA:O for many years ..."and forever" (on next-Gen.)

Your entire post boils down to you defending glitching...lmao.

I'm done here.

What I don't get is they are very quick to release patches to fix glitches which hinder the sales of their cheap shark cards but they don't seem to be working on releasing updates which will actually be any use. Beach Bum Dlc, lol..What about these missions which were supposed to number 500? Or was it 700? I'm not sure, but I'm sure that there are AT MOST 100 different missions to do so what happened to the rest of them, were they there at release? If they were not, why not? If they were, why aren't they being put back in? I'd like to see more missions that you receive via the phone, like Madrazzo, Gerald and the other ones, I am not a fan of repeating the same Death Match maps over and over, if I wanted this, I'd have bought Call of Duty instead. I don't really understand how people claimed the Heists were in at Launch, but now they aren't? I can't say for sure if they were, it's more of a question.

What is going on with this game exactly? There is a lack of jobs to do, mission payouts cut by half for repeats but the only option is to repeat them lol, as there are hardly any to choose from (Phone jobs I mean.) So what do they want? They want people to stop glitching and buy their crappy cards? That's a low blow to a loyal customer base which has stood by them, albeit complaining about it, but has still stood by them, despite the numerous problems the game is having. Beach Bum would have been better off not added, in my opinion. It just doesn't fit a Grand Theft Auto theme, surfers and imbeciles frolicking on a beach one moment and robbing convenience stores the next? No. Just no.

Were the heists in the game at launch? I'm sure I read somewhere that they took them out until the glitches were resolved? Well, why aren't they fixing these glitches in record time, it just seems that every patch that comes out stops people from earning as much money and fixes a very few minor glitches and adds very little substance. This kind of thing does not ease frustration among a waiting community.

All they need to do is make it so it gives you the money at the same time that it deletes your vehicle.

Thinking you don't understand the glitch very well.

Money is recorded across the user account, so when you sell the car the money goes there and the car is removed from the character account. By quickly swapping back to the same character before it auto-saves you return to the 'with car' character.

Now it would be nice to either:

- link the money to the character (not your account) but that has implications I assume given we have potentially 5 characters for some reason in the future

- simultaneously save and update money

But given it is a cloud save and takes quite a while, there is a gap while you are sitting with the money but the game isn't saved.

Alternatively, you could cloud-save (to remove the car) and then update the money but I guess you could see that would cause issues.

So, guts of the problem is that it takes time do the save after selling the car - that's the glitching window

No man, I get that it's two different processes that are out-of-sync. My comment wouldn't even make sense otherwise.

It really wouldn't be that difficult for the game to verify the auto-save was completed successfully before putting the money into your account. Aka, "giving you the money at the same time that it deletes your vehicle". It's doing things in the wrong order.

I agree with you but I don't think another billion. Not everyone will buy it for next gen console unless rockstar puts many great things, awesome dlc like a new map, a lot of activties, more ints.
