Survival in the Boneyard

Also learn a weapon and get good with it. I hate f*ckers that are always switching weapons and are equally terrible with all of them.

..or learn how to use multiple weapons. I use multiple weapons constantly during survivals. I mostly use the Advanced Rifle for range and accuracy, but use the assault shotgun if someone gets too close or if theres a lot of enemies bunched up. I also frequently will switch to the AP pistol if I need to be able to jump and duck just a little quicker than I could with the Adv Rifle. Of course there's always grenades and grenade launcher for the land vehicles and the minigun for the choppers whenever possible.

Railyard is cops

Sawmill is hillbillies

Boneyard hillbillies

Industrial plant Noose

Processed Noose

Sandy shores hillbillies

What is del pierro? Bikers ? Or just random thugs?

Bikers - The Lost.

I'm a spot whore - but I think that's a reasonable thing to be. Once I'm in a spot, I want to keep it, for the sole reason that if I need to run out for armor and health between rounds, I don't have time to time to do that then find a new spot once I get back and out that some f*ckhole has snaked me. Then my armor run is for sh*t cuz I'm going to take a few hits as I scramble for cover, if I don't get flat out wasted - yeah, thanks a lot, buddy - go team!

In Boneyard, I like the stack of palettes next to the shed if I want to get all the kills, western end of the portable if I want to take it easy and kill some cars.

OP, you've inspired me, thus:

Rules of The Boneyard:

Do not talk about... just kidding.

Don't hurt the team. $20K is $20K - four players cooperating can destroy Boneyard in well under 20 mins. Hurting the team slows us down and increases the chance of failure, which means less money. Money is why we're doing this thing over and over.

Don't race for/fight over spots - if you see someone ahead of you obviously going for the spot you want, better luck next time - do the right thing and go for your back-up spot. Fighting over it, sulking, griefing - this hurts the team.

Don't steal spots - the guy you just snaked won't know it till it's too late - this hurts the team.

Don't leave your post - we need you where you are - our positions dictate the spawn points, but more importantly, I need you to watch my back - if you take off and I don't know it, I also don't know that I'm no longer secure. Guess what that hurts (besides my ass when I get shot in it)?

Don't be a glory-hound - Got your T-Shirt & Tattoo? Then it doesn't matter how many kills you get. If we're all set up right, the number of kills you get is the number of NPCs that went thru your zone, so as long as you got all of them, you did your job.

Don't stand out in the open - Look, rounds 1-3, fine, go nuts, Rambo - have a blast. But don't keep it up. Sooner or later, you will die, and the round will take longer to finish - which means a longer wait for our cash.

Don't assume your teammates don't know what they're doing - Come on - it's Boneyard. We've all spent as much time there as the other Survivals combined. We know what's going on, and when, and where from. You're on Western Portable? Yeah, so you get no kills for three rounds - we know why and we're cool with it - you'll pull your weight later with the choppers & cars, so relax and don't get yourself killed trying to put irrelevant numbers on the board - the only numbers we care about are 10 and 20000. My point is, do your job, trust your team to do theirs, mo' money mo' fasta.

Sh*t, this is fun, I could do this all day. But I won't - feel free to add your own - I'll finish off with the best rule for any survival: Don't get killed!

This is the single greatest post I've ever seen on this forum, thank you.

Dont be a BEE-YATCH : if you die mid wave, and some guy ends up taking all the hillbilllies by himself, and passing the wave, LET THE MAN TAKE AN ARMOR. DONT STEAL HIS ARMOR FFS.

i hate it when im the only one alive, and when i finish the wave, i run to get armor, just to find some fukwad running to it. and then they die like 1 minute later... fkn noobs

Boneyard definitely has the best selection of spots.

Survivals are good for making friends as you say because you depend on each other that little bit more.

One thing we've been experimenting with recently now that Races have been nerfed for money is if we can blast through survivals quicker. Running and gunning is a good way to do this, but risky (as you say, most people die). For level 1 and 2 though it is easy. 3, 5 and 6 you can do it provided you don't hang around the vehicle spawn points. 4 you just have to be careful you don't get caught in the open by helicopter, and the same with 7. 8 plus it gets a bit tricky because the guys on the ground start to get better weapons that kill you quick. We find from then on however that if we spread out you can find cover but have everyone with eyes on most of the map which means you can get most guys as they spawn. Sometimes 10 we group together a bit more as if there are three helis you can get picked off if you have no cover overhead.

Glad to see so many people with the same unwritten rules that I go by. Felt like I was the only one.

This is off topic but someone said something about Del Perro Pier. I've made it as far as wave 10 and even finished it by standing in these 2 spots:

As far as going it solo, they tend to swarm from both sides and bullet rape you. It helps if someone is over by the pop machines, because Lost pull up in trucks over there. Lost also appear over by the roller coaster. It also helps to have something heavy like a mini gun for when the helicopters appear.

PS: Going up on the roller coaster will cause you to be kicked out like the roof in the Boneyard.

Hey as far as speed goes, is Processed the fastest map? I know you all love boneyard because it is popular in game, but I really think the community should shift their attention to Processed simply because of the spawn rate, it just seems faster to me.

Can anyone else confirm, I am sorta structuring my guide around it as you can easily solo it, get the minigun, and then do other maps with the minigun.

Yeah shoot the bags and get right up against it.

Having someone at the end (first picture) is handy so they don't flank you.

I'm a ramboer but I'm a good one. Call me impatient but I can't stand those people who just camp strategically behind this one stack of plywood and spend 5 minutes on wave 1. It's ridiculous.

I understand if it's wave 7 and the fun just began but really, wave 1-6? If all 4 people (2 can work as well) went head on with the AI, I guarantee that you'll be able to take down all of them.

That being said, I like the destroyed planes more. The buzzards cant hit you and when you have the Assault Shotgun/SMG and/or Minigun, the rounds are a piece of cake.

I hear you. If you're good at Ramboing it, go for it. More power to ya. But most are kids who watched too many action movies that die every wave and just end up leaving around wave 8 or 9.

That's another thing; why wait that late in the game to leave? Win or lose, you get money. Leaving that late means you get $0 and just wasted ammo.

Is this The Guy?

I tried explaining it as well as i can in this post a few replies up. Hope it is descriptive enough

Can't say i like this one tiger, kept spawning right on top of me.

I like the central bin a bit more, but moving around is a new tactic for me.

Even the crew i'm in are letting the enemy bottleneck me! Keep sticking to me instead of finding their own spots. But i did actually pass it. Any survivalists out there?

Yeah the spot i told you about works better solo really. They spawn on the other side and flow towards you

Also did anyone else notice that industrial plant only spawns 2 armor vests? Or is that just when you're solo?

You can see a large skip bin I the second photo. Next to the bin to the left and out of frame is also another skip bin. There is a gap of about 1 meter between the two bins that I like to sit it. It provides some cover from cars or other fire from behind you to your left. You can also move this bin by shooting with a combat MG.

Helicopter Rounds I duck into the toilets until the coppers are down. It's close enough you can move between sports during a wave if your carefull

The lower wall strategy works well with a team if everyone lines up in formation. You can survive this map solo if you stand behind the lil green dumpster next to the bathroom. You have to watch your back for the suv that come on wave 3 and 6. I ususally call the merryweather backup helicopter on wave 7. Worst come to Worst lay low in the bathroom and pick them all off.

I liked that spot next the bathroom on the Pier - but I've recently been finding some success in the alley right in the middle - there's a nook about halfway along - if you clear the junk on one side of it two guys can cover both end of the alley - and you've got cover from choppers, so it's a sweet spot for two people - just so long as you each remember to watch the other guy's back...

But I'm always happy to learn about new spots in Survival - I know all the good ones for Boneyard and Processed, but the others not so much - why I love threads like this - collective knowledge! The true purpose of forums! Whooo!

Ah righto, shall try later.

Definitely only 2 vests, in very sh*t places too. Why have one way up top when you only have 20 secs to get it? 15 of them go to climbing and 20 to find your way back to the spot.

The formation tricks sounds pretty neat, but a team that co-operates/speaks the same language/talk is a necessity.

Haven't even thought of Merryweather support.

Gotta say i'm liking the tactics being thrown around.

Nah this is fine, threads like this won't be around long. I encourage you guys to post the juicy bits in the sticky though, and if I think its worth editing into the opening post (which has loads of work to do so im sure I will) I will give credit to the guys who helped out.

At the moment I am lacking solid tactics for doing solo on the industrial plant without the minigun. I am aware there is a container you can hide in from the choppers so I might give that a go. Most strategies I use usually involve me getting a minigun from a map like Boneyard or Processed and using it on the others, but im trying to write stuff that doesn't involve that for the players who don't want to have to beat those maps every time they wanna play another.

PS: Going up on the roller coaster will cause you to be kicked out like the roof in the Boneyard.

As long as you keep cutting down the enemy AI by the time they reach the ferris wheel, I think this is the best spot (next to the wall beside the ferris wheel).

Only problem with this location is that the wall height is too low to guarantee safety from head shots. Or a well placed sniper shot from the chopper if they spawn immediately on your right or left. So if you're in this location, you have to be quick in taking cover in the bathroom alleyway just across the way from there.

I prefer the ferris wheel wall since it creates a long, straight approach route for the AI on either side. This makes it easier to drop the bikers from far distances as they run directly toward you from either side. It also forces the enemy AI to cluster f*ck in that area right before the ferris wheel.

So if you time it right, then a couple of sticky bombs/hand grenades later, some 80% of the wave will be usually complete. If they get lucky and overrun my rear and/or swarm from the front, I typically jump off the pier to the beach below. Then run back toward the entrance of the pier to outflank them and take them by surprise. This tactic is usually successful some 80% of the time. But before jumping, you have to watch out for that rouge pickup truck or biker which might try to ambush your rear from the beach below.

I have to experiment with survival more. I used to be one of those criminal record farmers, and granted, I did bitch about the money nerfing, but I suppose it's forcing me to do stuff I otherwise wouldn't have. Survival is usually a pretty quick way now of making money and xp since criminal records was nerfed.

I use either the left or right of the shed depending on who gets where first. Sometimes I have the largest number of kills because I'm where they're spawning from, other times if I'm to the left, I just focus on getting the guys in the cars and taking down the choppers. Choppers make good target practice and if you can get good at taking them down, it helps in all aspects of this game.

Oh as for choppers, how do you destroy them efficiently with the heavy sniper? Is there some hotspot?
