But I guess with enough snacks, you can out last the waves in those positions. It just takes forever for all the NPCs to find you.

I only just worked out that you can use the snacks and whatnot, didn't even know there was an inventory!

If they don't come from around a corner, shoot in their direction - it's like giving cheese to a mouse, they come for it.

Yeah not noose my bad, got them Mixed up lol

Would've been better to have them than just the cops, or a combo of both...

Is this The Guy?

That container in industrial plant is trash. No good angles and not a very good view. I only use it for chopper waves.

The one side of the plant where there is the ladder to climb to get the vest and to climb to the top, behind that building is a blue trash bin you can get in. Big container behind you for protection. Have to keep an eye on mini map though because some strays can wonder behind there and sneak up on you but just a few.

I play a lot of survivals and to me it would get boring to be in the same spot always, it is just the fun of it to take cover on places you haven't been before, that sometimes changes the intire wave, cause enimies spawn in different places then. I never use the spots that are given up as "the perfect spots" on the map, 'cause thats a bit boring to me

Yeh this is the position we use - where the container is almost against the wall of the building. One person faces one way and gets a view all the way across to the retaining wall on the other side of the map. The other person sits in the bin and covers the fence jumpers, cars (if you blow the fence panels away) and protects the other person's ass. When the helictopter comes, the second person gets in between the container and wall as well facing the other way. But as you said, the first person has to be mindful of strays coming from his left side then.

I have held off this position once by myself when my team mates died in several consecutive rounds but it was alot of hard work, switching back and forth between the positions and took alot of snacks and luck.

The other thing you can do, if you have a few people and have picked up a mini-gun from another survival is have one person camp on top of the elevated platform on helicopter waves and take them out as soon as they appear.

Is this The Guy?

Yeah if people start coming from the back thats when i equip my shotgun, a quick peak out and one shot them at least to get them to the ground, that way i can focus on the swarm of enemies.

Also blind fire is your best friend in later rounds, preserve your health. I blew up that fence a couple times and that was when things got real interesting lol. Enemies everywhere.

This is one of the few maps where i rather play solo because of the body armor and spawn points.

Precisely where would one go to find this location you speak of? 20 seconds is no where near enough to scout the place out for spots, let alone get armour! I'll forget about it when i'm in FR.

Another hint for my location (bin near the ladder for high view) is to sticky the entrance for when the vehicles enter and use tear gas for around the containers. Only problem where i go is people jump up on the roof, creating an all direction assault kinda hard to survive.

I tried explaining it as well as i can in this post a few replies up. Hope it is descriptive enough

Try some other maps out, im having a blast on sawmill because its so much more complex.

Definitely a team activity if you find competent people..

My best spot is up the dirt track to the armor, take a left and walk to the shed and take a left (remember where Lamar was?). You have protection from the chopper, and have a 45 degree view, most people come from the left around the corner.

If the chopper gets you, go under that shelter. Take him out with the AP.

What im doing atm is going on the roof if I have a competent team who can handle themselves. If you have stocked up the MG you can take out most guards who can get you, and if you have the minigun from a previous round you can use that on the choppers and act as a support role.

Well when you stop doing death-matches and start doing survivals i'll tag along, can't say i've come across people familiar/good enough for that survival.

Had some asshat the other day who joined, sat idle for 3 rounds and played two of them with a grand total of 7 kills. Doing sawmill with 2 people isn't the easiest thing.

Been there since rank 15 and i'm over 120 now. I like the Railyard and the Del Pierro Pier, but the Boneyard has to be my favorite, and no it isn't because of that shed (My main spot is behind the block nearby the shed.) I can survive in that warehouse, I can survive in the back where the planes are, I can even go get in that bus right next to where the hillbillies spawn and survive in there. But that isn't to say I won't go behind the shed at all...

It's also because i've made more friends there than I ever have or ever will in Freemode or doing jobs. But at the same time, trolls will be trolls and there's several people you have to watch out for.

Spot Whores: Some people cannot survive anywhere without their favorite spot (usually behind the shed on the nearside.) If you get there first they will harass you until you move, and some will jump the wall and get behind you to push you out of your cover. If both spots behind the shed are taken they usually go get behind the block, even if someone else is there, (Me, usually) which is annoying, because 2 people can't stand behind the block without getting knocked out of cover. Most of the time instead of fighting with them over it, I give them the spot, and they get killed anyway. Yet there are those who respect your space and stand on the left side.

Squatters: These people hide on the far side of the shed, or behind the wall behind the shed, or somewhere else on the map where the hillbillies cannot get to them and the helicopters usually ignore them, and let you do all the work.

Suiciders: Similar to squatters, except they either just stand there and get killed, or run purposely into the hillbilles and die. They may play a few waves with you, but when they see you doing good and holding your own is when they either put the controller down, or start kamikaze running into the rednecks.

Rambo: These people never take cover and go toe-to-toe with the hillbillies. I've only seen like 2 people actually stay out there with no cover and survive all the way to wave 10, when the enemy's accuracy is like 100%, but most of them get killed and leave the game.

Trolls: I shouldn't even have to explain. Idiots who harass you (especially if you're a female like myself) and will do their best to push you out of cover and get you killed, then die themselves just so everyone fails. Usually a mix of Rambo and a Spot Whore who stand in front of you doing the Jerk action (Keep your sexlife to yourself please.) After so many times getting killed trying to kill you, they leave. Some even climb up onto that building next to the bus where the hillbilles spawn and get kicked out.

This isn't a complaint thread, don't get me wrong. Survival is a good way to get RP and money if you have the time and the patience to do it over and over. It's also a way to make friends with people without having to sift through the endless amounts of gun toting psychopaths in Freemode. This is just to let people know who to look out

Nice run down!.

Hit me up on Xbox if you want a decent Survival buddy

My play cycle at the moment is this, I play survival till I have stocked up on loads of AR and SMG ammo, then I play DMs to waste it all using the advanced rifle. I save loads of money doing this by never buying ammo, and I like DMs because imo its the most skill based mode, I have loved 3rd person shooters since Socom 2.

I will be online next time I can hook up to my universities wifi from my place, its a bit of a hit or miss.

saw mills is loads of fun. I like to hop on the chute that goes from the top, down around the side and then into the building. you can retreat back into the little undercover part when there's helicopters and u can run up and down the chute whilst crouching from enemy fire.

What is del pierro? Bikers ? Or just random thugs?

Bikers - The Lost.

I'm a spot whore - but I think that's a reasonable thing to be. Once I'm in a spot, I want to keep it, for the sole reason that if I need to run out for armor and health between rounds, I don't have time to time to do that then find a new spot once I get back and out that some f*ckhole has snaked me. Then my armor run is for sh*t cuz I'm going to take a few hits as I scramble for cover, if I don't get flat out wasted - yeah, thanks a lot, buddy - go team!

In Boneyard, I like the stack of palettes next to the shed if I want to get all the kills, western end of the portable if I want to take it easy and kill some cars.

OP, you've inspired me, thus:

Rules of The Boneyard:

Do not talk about... just kidding.

Don't hurt the team. $20K is $20K - four players cooperating can destroy Boneyard in well under 20 mins. Hurting the team slows us down and increases the chance of failure, which means less money. Money is why we're doing this thing over and over.

Don't race for/fight over spots - if you see someone ahead of you obviously going for the spot you want, better luck next time - do the right thing and go for your back-up spot. Fighting over it, sulking, griefing - this hurts the team.

Don't steal spots - the guy you just snaked won't know it till it's too late - this hurts the team.

Don't leave your post - we need you where you are - our positions dictate the spawn points, but more importantly, I need you to watch my back - if you take off and I don't know it, I also don't know that I'm no longer secure. Guess what that hurts (besides my ass when I get shot in it)?

Don't be a glory-hound - Got your T-Shirt & Tattoo? Then it doesn't matter how many kills you get. If we're all set up right, the number of kills you get is the number of NPCs that went thru your zone, so as long as you got all of them, you did your job.

Don't stand out in the open - Look, rounds 1-3, fine, go nuts, Rambo - have a blast. But don't keep it up. Sooner or later, you will die, and the round will take longer to finish - which means a longer wait for our cash.

Don't assume your teammates don't know what they're doing - Come on - it's Boneyard. We've all spent as much time there as the other Survivals combined. We know what's going on, and when, and where from. You're on Western Portable? Yeah, so you get no kills for three rounds - we know why and we're cool with it - you'll pull your weight later with the choppers & cars, so relax and don't get yourself killed trying to put irrelevant numbers on the board - the only numbers we care about are 10 and 20000. My point is, do your job, trust your team to do theirs, mo' money mo' fasta.

Sh*t, this is fun, I could do this all day. But I won't - feel free to add your own - I'll finish off with the best rule for any survival: Don't get killed!

Can't say i like this one tiger, kept spawning right on top of me.

I like the central bin a bit more, but moving around is a new tactic for me.

Even the crew i'm in are letting the enemy bottleneck me! Keep sticking to me instead of finding their own spots. But i did actually pass it. Any survivalists out there?

I really hope R* continue to create survivals around the map. I would love to see one in Grove street area against the Ballers. I often go down there and start my own...you can make it last a couple of waves before they stop spawning.

"She" didn't need to bring her gender into this or her sex life. Verdict: another girl on the Internet seeking attention. Maybe she's out of tampons haha. I make account to post this so funny and true!

OH!

I'm being trolled. What should I do? Should I rage? Call you gay along with a bunch of other misspelled and stale insults? Should I run offline, hulk smash my keyboard and slash my wrists?

Lolz. It's funny how children make a mountain out of a molehill. Posting pics like that, you must be a real hit with the ladies, huh? <3 (OBVIOUS SARCASM) I could see if I was in here screaming for women's rights or preaching how girls are better gamers or some jazz like that, but that wasn't the case.

I don't know if the name is the same in english but Meurtres Raffinés or ....Raffined murders? is my favorite. I can do that map almost alone so when my friend come we just kill the enemies easily so the first waves are freaking cake. It's that place East of Los Santos with the Bus carcass and thin metal shacks or hangars things.

Thus far, I am liking Boneyard the best out of the Survival maps and it is especially easy after the reinforcements show up in their vehicles. In the intermission between waves, I've been placing Sticky Bombs on the cars and using them to blow up the reinforcements. Plus, Survival is an awesome way to make some money fast.

No it's definitely not quick money, but after 4 survivals you have enough to get a sh*tload of ammo and to work on your skills.

Boneyard is certainly the easiest one to cut your teeth on and is really a no brainer for two people. Yes when you get extra ransoms in there things tend to go south fast. That why I have been so lucky to have a few friends or family to do them with, I NEVER host or join and Open session.

After getting so bored with Boneyard I switched to Sandy survival because it is actually much easier and quicker.

Still I think if your doing survivals it is for the fun certainly not the money. If your after money and RP you can do five or six Coveteds in the same time and make 60-72k and use only a handful of ammo.

Again I gotta go back to the standard of just mix it up, we usually warm up with a few gang attacks, a survival some coveted, handful of races and some parachutes and after that we got loads of RP and cash and fun!

I think the best way to beat this survival 100% of the time is with only 2 ppl behind that shed TBH. Anyways, you forgot to mention

* the interior of the large plane behind the wall. Provides effective cover from chopper and enemy AI which are usually focused on the other side of the wall.

* that spot right next to the 2 vending machines inside the warehouse. It's a great cover from choppers. You can take out all the hillbillies that enter from either side if you're fast enough with an MG or carbine. And especially if you strategically sticky bomb any vehicles they park there from previous wave. Wait until they drive in more vehicles in the current wave and begin cluster f*cking that area. Then press the dpad key and send them to Hillbilly Heaven. Survived to lvl 9 from that one spot going solo.

On these:

Spot Whores: I admit to being guilty of this from time to time. But only after I realize just how much the ppl I'm playing with suck----even with auto aim FFS. Or if they're too low level to bring anything but a pistol or broken bottle to the gunfight. And whenever that happens, and that I'm-going-to-be-f*cked-before-wave-5 realization moment hits, that's when my char grows roots behind that shed so he can collect his hard earned $20k paycheck....

Squatters & Suiciders: I typically try to kick these leechers out the game if I'm hosting the session. If we're getting close to wave 7 but they've been pissing me off, or caused my char to take unnecessary damage covering for their asses, and I've got ammo to spare, then I've been known to resort to fratricide.....

Rambo: These players come in 2 flavors:

- Type I aka the original gangstas. These are the real bad ass, lvl 70+ mofo's with high K/D, mad shooting skills, and are armed to the teeth from cleaning out Ammunation stock. On the good side: these are the best ppl to have in the mission because they usually succeed in killing everything in sight (including 2-3 choppers without taking cover). On the bad side: they're so good that they cause your kill stat to tank. So you end up averaging than 5-6 kills per wave.

- Type II: aka the Village Idiots. I usually LOL at these because they're typically the low level n00bs, or FM loving griefers with high K/D who've never been in a fair gun fight in FM. They typically don't have a facking clue why they need to take cover. Until that 1st chopper shows up and they once again prove to mankind why they'll end up winning the Darwin Award every single time.....

Trolls: don't suffer these fools at all. I usually make it a personal mission to waste the ammo putting these Village Idiots out of their misery before wave 3 hits. Then kick them out the game if the server permits.

Nice post. :) I'd like to see more strategies for other survivals and especially the pier beach one. Got as high as level 9 on that one with some great ppl before getting capped by 2 choppers in the final wave. :facedesk: Next to the lumber mill, that survival is probably the hardest to beat because of the lack of chopper cover. Really only one place on the pier that offers any real protection. With the lumber yard, lots of hiding places. But ppl typically get too spread out to be effective. :/

I played the Del Pierro Pier survival for the first time last night and actually passed it. I had some real good folks with me, a level 122 and a level 256, so it helped that they had minigun for the choppers in waves 4 and 7 (I'm a level 76 so alas no minigun for me until I can pick it up in wave 9)

Anyway there's no real foolproof cover in this one which is why I like it, why hardly anyone else plays it, and probably why I had two really high ranking players in there with me. The best place I found is around by the coke machines and dumpsters on the end of the building near the ferris wheel. It's near the end of the boundary so you don't have many people spawning behind you, and although you cant shoot from inside you can duck into the bathroom if a chopper appears overhead at an inopportune moment.

I love the lumber mill for exactly the reason you mentioned - there's so much cover people can actually spread out and run around, you don't have to "spot whore" one place for all 10 waves. For me that makes it the most fun.
