Every time I join a game I get shot for no reason at all by EVERYONE. My cars even get blown up for no bloody reason. This costs me money and makes the game horrible to play.

This is why I have the tank. If someone else tries to harass me... well, they will soon regret it.

Otherwise, I leave them alone, so long as they leave me alone.

Anyone out there that keeps the killing to bountyhunting/missions?

Because I could really use a friend in this world of ***holes.

(PS3)

I'm down for some friendly gaming. I haven't played online yet and I need to get a small component for my turtle beach headset. I also play on an SD tv, so it's a bit tricky to read what's on the screen sometime.

Online play is fun when it's co op

When its competitive, I'd have more fun taking a sh*t

Not sure about fun, but certainly more enjoyable. The aftermath feels better too.

Do you find online fun or tedious and dull? is it better or worse than IV?

I kill whoever I see out of fear that if I don't they will. Countless times I'd be ignoring someone or think they're not violent and as soon as I turn my back I'm dead. The thing I hate is when they kill you outside of your vehicle and then run over to it and blow it up. I don't see a point in that. If you blow up my vehicle while I'm in it, cool, whatever, you got me. I'm not bothered by a 2 minute delay in getting back my car for free. It's the pointless blowing it up after the fact that annoys me.

It's just that it's way too easy to grief in this game, and there aren't enough activities that aren't terrible to keep people busy.

If they can't hack it in competitive games, they'll grief the cheapest way they can find.

I try to at least act like a normal person in a session, and I'd obviously get gunned down by some freak with an assault rifle and have my car blown up. Really irritating. If I have my mic on and someone tried to shove bullets down my throat, I calmly and politely tell them, "DO NOT ENGAGE ME, I'M JUST WATCHING," although it's futile.

Man, they'd even go trigger happy when I'm in passive mode. They should know that I am by looking at the radar instead of wasting lead on me. I just have my character flip them off to remind them I'm immune to ammunition.

I think they do this because 1: They might just be nervous that I might kill them, more out of experience from other players shooting at them, or 2: They are just money guzzling bungholes that try to kill you and steal whatever money you had in your pocket, or 3: They want to kill you just to deduct the amount of ammo and money you have.

My best tip to the normal players is to save up all the money you earn and keep it in a bank, buy plenty of armour, and get as much ammunition as you can. GTA Online is freaking dangerous, and you'll need this. I sort of go by that 'trust no one' thing, but that doesn't mean I go around killing random people for nothing. I just drive or run pass them, just in case they even consider pointing that weapon at me.

I know this is off topic, but if you drew your sig, its awesome. It reminds me of the concept art from the back of a lot of trade paperbacks. Also, "Ed, Edd, and Eddy", f*cking awesome. You a "Samurai Jack" fan too?

Free aim is better and funner less people who shoot at first sight. Rockstar made it worse by making lowering bad sport penalty from blowing up cars my car gets blown up atleast 10 times everyday now

yes, hang out in free aim. It takes effort to shoot and you have time to designate your defense. Plus when you're in free aim mode, you know you are playing with player who actually know what they are doing. auto aim assist if filled with casual players who have no clue. trust me

This is the problem with MP in GTA. Everybody wants to do different sh*t. I rarely get killed for no reason, but it's entertaining when it happens. I guess I can understand the frustration though.

This for me is the biggest flaw in GTA Online. They should really have one set of servers for those who want to play it properly and work with others through mission and those lesser beings who just want to blast each other. Having said that, it's not as bad as it was. I've had a break of nearly 2 weeks from online and it's got a bit better.

I feel your pain. This was my first grievance as well. But I think I was just too 'happy-go-lucky' for online gameplay (as I hadn't played any MMO like this before).

I actually tried to say "hello" when I walked up to the first online player I saw (lol). I was met with a pistol whip to the face, for no good reason. And for a second I thought this was just an agro person, a fluke. Then I met my second person outside of Los Santos Customs. Like a dolt, as I was admiring their car, and they ran me over. For no good reason. After that, I never hopped online without my gun out. I may have shot a couple ppl by accident because I panicked and didn't know what to expect, but it's kill or be killed out there.

When I started to venture out, I would get hunted down nearly every time. I would respawn, then the person that killed me would be right behind me and either snipe me or run me over. The hunter would literally watch for my respawn on the map, just to find me and kill me again. And this went on for a couple weeks until I got tired of running. And started hunting them down. And I'm not advocating unprovoked violence. I just stand my ground. So if they shoot first...it's on.

Plus, rolling with a crew will def keep you protected. I'd invite you to mine, but i'm not on PS3. Hope you get the hang of it soon!

But I know this is the annoying stuff you're talking about:

This is me and my friend just chilling in the barber shop. He's picking out hairstyles, and i'm waiting on the couch. But for whatever reason, this asshat just did not stop trying to kill us! Since you can not bring a weapon into a shop unless you blow the doors open (some weird glitch), he proceeded to do "the jerk" motion on me and my friend for several moments, unprovoked. Then why my friend was done, this guy proceeded to try to back a truck into the door (i'm assuming he thought it would break the door open?) and try to smash the shop windows with his bat. Like, really guy? You have nothing better than to terrorize people that aren't bothering you?

0_0.jpg

Why are you sitting on me? Notice my character's annoyance with this fellow.

0_0.jpg

0_0.jpg

So after waiting this R-tard out, he finally gets his weapon into the shop, upon which he is promptly killed. ..yeah, it was something like that.

And then we went about our day..

I didn't expect the senseless griefing when I first started online play; I had expected some shootouts, like going after a car, or on a heist/job/mission, just not the randomness.

So I started going solo, invite only, or now, crew (with old friend) sessions. Which sorta bums Me out because I wanted to race and meet new gamers.

Grand theft auto is about being a criminal, which means killing people.

Murder is not the only crime. There are many types of criminals that do not physically harm others throughout their illegal careers.

The game is titled "Grand Theft Auto 5"...not "Killing Spree 5".

The game also provides an unlimited amount of NPCs that give cash for killing them, the same as killing a player would. Those who just chase down and kill other players are just being assholes......especially the ones who repeatedly spawn kill that same person. Often someone much lower level and less able to fight back effectively.

Making an excuse saying anything other than those people simply wish to grief others is simply that. There are deathmatches etc for those who want rewards for killing other players. The rewards from those matches are better than random killings....and far more frequent.

No offense intended here, but if you're looking for a game for mature players....just avoid any case that you see the R* logo on.

Trying to start missions is difficult at times. Depends who you're on with. For example, yesterday afternoon I was on with some decent folk who were hosting quite a few missions. During my evening session there were something like 2 races and that was it. Annoying seeing as I need cash due to an addiction to stickies.

I guess it depends for me. If they're all up in my personal space or following me, I usually kill them. Which is the odd person here and there but otherwise, no. Glad to see I ain't the only one

Level differences/achievements are a problem too...how would a level 10 defend against 2 much higher-level guys gang-sniping?

Go into passive mode, walk up towards them. Turn it off and twat the bastards with your baseball bat...

I play and don't normally kill anyone. Although I fight power with power, you attack me I win. That's why I have a high player to death ratio.

This is why I join private lobbies at times. I'd rather just rank up without being harassed.

There are a lot of arseholes in online games, but for every ten douchebags you meet, you'll find one cool person. Just now I was taking a Baller back to my garage so that I could sell it later. Someone started following me in their Adder, hooting their clown horn, I assumed they were gonna start trollin'. They followed me all the way back to my house, I came out in my Entity (which also had a clown horn) and found they were still waiting for me.

It turns out, all they wanted to do was hang out. It was really fun, all we had to communicate was our clown horns but we went cruising around for a good while. It was kinda cute really.

I've watched some episodes not too long ago, and I think it's a pretty good show.

---

So, very recently, I've been in two matches with nothing but tank griefers. I'll only talk of one session though. Maniacs + tanks = a horrible time for everyone without a tank.

I'm driving around Los Santos sporadically as usual, and I spot something moving slowly on the radar. Being ignorant, I check it out. I see a beige / tan object in the distance, and I get blown up! The kill screen reveals that this freak is obviously in a tank. I respawn to try to encounter the guy. I get close to him, but he pulls away from me and blows me up once more. I attempt to get close to him several times, only to have a shell smack me across the face every time.

I get to my breaking point and flick Passive Mode on. He can't blow me up, so I guess I get the edge there. At least that's what I thought.

I get close to him again. The reason I do this is to try to take the tank and blow him up. I thought with Passive Mode on, it would be successful, but he discovers me getting real close and reverses. He rolls over me with the treads and I die for the 50th time. I find a way to avoid him from doing this again. When I actually get to the tank, I realize that I can't climb in to steal it from him since I'm on Passive Mode. F*ck my life. I turn Passive Mode off to steal it, only to turn it back on after he kills me again. Whenever I am this close to opening the hatch to get it, the guy knocks me off with the cannon and, you guessed it, blow me up. So after I turn on Passive Mode again, he finally disregards me and leaves to terrorize other players.

I later leave the vicinity to hear plenty more explosions in the distance. I push the thought aside, thinking it's just someone else unfortunate enough to have an encounter with the metal beast. Well, I was half right.

I drive to the wall near the left end of Vespucci Beach, where this was happening. I look across the shallow river bordering the LS Airport highway and the beach. I think I see about 4 tanks, one being the one that annoyed me, rolling for the airport entrance. There are other players without tanks protecting each other, fighting for their lives just to destroy these tanks. The guys in the tanks were killing them for no particular reason.

I go into stealth mode and take cover behind the wall. While I'm watching the carnage commence, I get my sniper rifle out and look for where the gas tank for the tanks are. The security rails on the highway across obscure my vision from their gas tanks, so I had to wait till they came into sight.

Impatient, I randomly shot at them with the sniper. It obviously did nothing, and that only screwed me over. They began to fire their cannons at me, but the explosions were just out of range. Just to be safe, I get back to the car I came in, and I enlarge the map. They were going down the highway and towards me. I was in range and they blew me up. I just lose my sanity by now.

When they come with the other players shooting at them, I aim for the oil tanks, but I made a discovery. THEY WEREN'T LEAKING OIL. I swear I did this a million times in SP: popping the petrol in tanks, having it leak out and set afire. There, they keep killing me and the other players.

This goes on for a long time and it works it way to Vinewood Hills, near my apartment. I turn on passive mode and it's only me and 2 or 3 tanks. I get on a ledge they couldn't run me down on, and I whip out Snapmatic. I was gonna take a selfie with them shooting at me, but one of them swipes me with the cannon and I die...

"That's it; I quit."

Moral of the story: tanktards are complete and utter jerks and morons.

  • 3 weeks later...

Today I was playing on a public session driving around in my brand new Strech limo I bought online. all of a sudden, another player came racing down the street in a chrome cheetah ( which looks ugly btw), threw a sticky bomb on my limo and blew up me and my car. After that incident, another player came up to me in a rhino tank and killed me with the canon, but thanks to R*s crappy spawn system, the tank spawn killed me 14 times in a row until I finally quit the server. I will never understand why these types of players enjoy senselessly killing other players for no reason, is it because they want to be a "troll" like their favorite youtubers, or do they think that they are tough and cool by blowing up every players personal vehicles?
