What should be done about the "Bad Sport Mechanic"

To explain the title: I've been having a few problems the way the bad sport mechanic works. I've explained here the problems I have with it, but I seem to be getting the exact same complaints put back to me such as, "Well don't blow up peoples cars then." f*ck, there is so much worse that I could do than blow up someone's car and for you to tell me that R* don't want me to blow sh*t up in a GRAND THEFT AUTO game is ridiculous. Fair enough it gets annoying when you get in a lobby and there are guys running around shooting the sh*t out of everyone they meet it can be annoying, but that's only the nature of GTA in general! Even at that if some asshole pulls up in a car and sticky bombs me while I'm on foot, why should I be punished for respawning and sticky bombing his car and him?

 

What do you guys think, any ideas as to what R* could do better?

they fkd up with creating online, not only do higher level players get better weapons, they also get higher health than lower levels.

 

me and a friend were chilling on that hobo island, and a bunch of guys came at us with buzzards, and then tried spawnkilling us

for the most part it worked, but even when we managed to get away, they sniped us from our boat, then car, THEN HELICOPTER, so like honestly wtf.

 

people can be extreme assholes by ganging up on passive players, and nothing happens to them afterwords.

i dare someone to say "OH PASSIVE MODE, SWITCH SERVER, GO INVITE ONLY IF YOU CANT HANDLE PLAYING THE GAME HOW IT WAS MEANT TO BE"

and then end up in that situation, its unbelievable bullsh*t. gta was never meant to be an online game

I don't understand what the big deal is about blowing up personal vehicles, the dumbass who does has to pay for it and all I have to do is call the insurance place. I can't figure out why they put people in bad sport lobbies for that.

You blow up a PV and pay for it, no BS warning
BUT if you blow it up and have no money to pay for it, then it's okay to get BS warning

I like the bad sport mechanic, I think they should take it a step further though.

 

AUTO bad sport someone if they manage to kill someone who is in passive mode (and isn't in a vehicle)

 

It'd be funny to see peeps avoid people in passive mode like the plague.

 

Only people with a problem with the BS mechanic are griefers and they had their Grand Theft Auto which was IV which was essentially GTA IV: Griefer's paradise. Since it was all you could do basically.

Evidently not. If you actually watched the video you would understand. f*ck a griefer could be in a car, and be griefing the sh*t out of me, but as soon as I blow up his car I'm a bad sport. Yeah no that's sh*te.

Seems fair to me...he paid for what he did and you did/would too, nothing unfair or wrong...or do you want special treatment so if you're attacked first you have free reign to destroy every vehicle your assailant has, thats not very fair to him.

 

No ones punished more than the other, he destroys your vehicles hes punished just as much as you when you blow him up.

No, you don't follow me. This f*cker could be in his car and run me over 5 times in a row. He doesn't blow up my car, but he still kills me 5 times and he isn't punished. I blow up his car once, and I'm punished.

Modified from an older post that I had made: The Bad Sport system has massive flaws. It doesn't actually separate the majority of the griefers from the rest of the playerbase simply because its most prominent method of determining whether or not a person is actually being a "bad sport" is based solely on them destroying another player's personal vehicle, regardless of the circumstances (particularly in cases of self defense). It also leads to situations like the one mentioned a few weeks ago in a separate thread regarding the two level 100+ players spawn raping a level 6 with heavy snipers and miniguns just for the hell of it. Clearly griefing, but because they did not do the unspeakable and touch someone's personal vehicle (God forbid...), they are left to grief as they please because the current Bad Sport system is a flat-out joke.

I think that you should get Bad Sport for destroying PV's only if no one has killed you and you destroy one or your PV got destroyed by someone. If someone killed you, it should be allowed to destroy the PV (as many times as the guy has killed you or destroyed your vehicles) without Bad Sport.

 

If the guy tried to hide in a friend's PV, it should be like a Wanted level - it should allow the destruction of someone else's vehicle too if they entered someone else's PV.

Really don't see the problem with it, everytime I don't want to get killed but some guy manages it I come back to blow him up, including his car if he's in/near it.
Always get the warning I should behave myself but I never got put into any BS lobby yet.
You won't get BS if that's all you do, now if you go around griefing others all the time then yes you'll get bs.
But is that really a problem? Seeing as all you like to do is blow up people their cars, why not be in a lobby full of those people and go at it?

Edit: It's a known FACT that griefers start to cry when they get griefed by others, that is why ya'll don't like the BS lobby's because it's full of people with the same mindset who turn out to be even better at it.

Edit2: TL;DR: Don't do the crime if you can't pay the time. Or something like that.

People that are STILL moaning about the bad sport system after R* made it virtually impossible for an average player to get in there, must be some real lame and talentless players. I'm sick of hearing 'oh it's gta, we're suppose to blow sh*t up' and that's where your problem lies...grand theft auto is about stealing cars and general car crime, 'not blowing sh*t up'. Drug crime is about production, smuggling and consumption, not blowing the merchandise up. People that get into car crime are usually people that have a passion or a fascination with cars and people that play computer games based on driving,, tend to have the same properties and so do the guys that write them. There are many many games based on 'blowing sh*t up', from 'kill the alien' to 'shoot the terrorist', why don't you go and find um.

 

Back to GTA, even though it was originally designed as a driving game, there are plenty of opportunity to 'blow sh*t up' and there's nothing to stop you from doing so, they and WE, just don't want you to go around unnecessarily 'blowing our sh*t up'...accidents will happen and when you really get pissed off, you can even go and do it but, if you play the game with that sole intention, the game willl punish you, it's not difficult. You can 'blow sh*t up' all you like, there are cars all over the place, you can jack them, pile um up and then finally blow um all up together if you like making noises....you just can't do this with player cars as the real reason you would be doing so, is out of spite(hence bad sport).

 

There's a group in the game that don't mind if you blow their cars up, they'll even bring their cars right to your feet one after another and they'll give you a good fight into the bargain, they're called the cops and I have many good scraps with them and when they make a mess with their cars all over the road, I 'blow their sh*t up'. In a nutshell, you can 'blow sh*t up' all you like, but you shouldn't be deliberately blowing other players cars up out of spite....don't get the two mixed up.
