Gonna say it. MP Missions require more planning than SP Heists.

1. SP heists require no thought. You just do what Lester tells you... you do not have to actually find or think of anything cool. This is why I think heists for multiplayer will be less fun than some of the harder missions in multiplayer.

So far.. I have had way more fun doing the high level missions with my buddies on hard with free aim NOT USING TANKS, BUZZARDS, OR OTHER MILITARY/POLICE HACKED sh*t... even if not hacked.. a tank doesnt belong on a sneaky copter heist.

I used to just START missions... but I would always get a group of tools who auto aimed sprinted as fast as they can blew everything up with their buzzard and get the loot than do it again for more loot guys... I f*cken hate those guys... they either get lucky and blow everything up with their buzzard and end the mission in 5 min.... or they die right away and we have to restart because im alone with no lives...

Lately I gather a crew before starting any mission.... using chat, text, apartment invites... everything... Once I get a group of people who respond rationally I start the mission and they instantly join... vola...

Now.. The online missions on harder difficulties leave everything up to your own devices... you choose what roof/tower/billboard you snipe from, who snipes.... who is the getaway guy, what he is going to drive, where the extraction point is....

Yes alot of it is go here.. get this.. peace to location BUT ISNT THAT WHAT A f*ckEN HEIST IS... the single player heists just had a bunch of scripted bullsh*t that you couldnt change up other than to choose (loud and dumb or smart and quiet) and most hests didnt have those options....

Thoughout all of the heists I was thinking "would have done that differently" or like "what a f*cken dumb idea" where in multi... ITs up to our own devices...

OVerall, I ahve way more fun playing missions with friends who cooperate and are creative enough to add some planning to the mission, than playing scripted linear "heists" that have 2 option to do a series of cutscenes...

frankly I think they need to add more go here get that missions... but make them harder and more complex... go there hack that steal that blow that up then peace... more of those... i like those.. and those are easy to add in... hell even soon there might be a content creator for that.... how hard would it be to just let us spawn dudes where we want them, spawn whips... set up a deal to bust... or a base to raid... or a bank to rob..

Anyways... my PSN is same as my name here.... msg me if you like planning out and executing missions.

mic isnt required.... like i had a guy do like 5 missions in a row with me.. no mic neither of us did.... but like used his aiming to sort of point things out... and texted short hand phrases that he needed to be said.... dude was legit... a lot of the time i have a mic, but cant use it as my girl friend is passed out on the couch next to me and i am secretly playing gta before we "go to bed".... doesnt mean i cant communicate... and plan something out.

Yeah for the SP heists you're basically picking one of the two predesignated package tours... but still it's a nice idea and it helps make you feel like you're in control and it helps make things seem a little less arbitrary.

For MP missions you really don't need to plan much for the default settings. On AssistedAim you can effortlessly L2-R2 spam your way through a lot of missions and using a powerful vehicle is almost an automatic win. Even on foot the enemy is really passive in most missions so as long as you don't over-expose yourself you'll very rarely die.

Even on FA aim I'm pretty certain you can just rambo most missions with only 2 players. Probably not as safe as a detailed plan, but it works.

I would love to be able to find people to play co-op, I'm much happier with that than just free-roam numpties

ik what you mean OP that's why I was attracted to this thread, there are missions like Death From Above and that one where you charge the airfield and steal planes (love the teamwork on that one), and they're pretty damn hard without some coordination

sp heists are just like yeah okay do this do that normal mission, mainly because you're doing it by yourself anyway

I seriously doubt heists online are going to be as linear as they were in SP

but I get what you're saying though, heists in SP were these rollercoaster rides just taking you from one cutscene to the next

all these missions online are more of the old-school gta objectives just telling you to go somewhere to do something and leaving the details up to you

which IMO is a lot more fun

btw are you on xboxlive or PSN cuz I'd love to tag along sometime?

kind of tired of having to do missions with randoms rushing the objective like a bunch of maniacs

Zwenkwiel I hope you are right bro that heists are open ended... Like really.. I'd be cool with say the bank... and it has any given amount of entry and exit points for the player to find, some more obvious than others... You gotta choose and find the best one for your team...

All the objective says is "Crack the safe" .... with a yellow dot..... You gotta get the escape whip, collect the weapons, scout and get info on the target, even perhaps walk in there unarmed and take out some cash and leave... walk up to the teller flip her off or hit on her then walk around the block. But its up to you... I picture them being just harder missions...

What I dont want is 2-4 heist missions where you choose to go in loud or quiet... then lester holds your hand and takes you through the "rollercoaster rides just taking you from one cutscene to the next" untill you get your 25k or whatever reward.... then people do them all in 5 min and they have no replayability and its back to "Im bored in GTA"

Also Zwenkwiel.. im G_Masta_Phunk psn...

Agreed missions are so much funner when you play with competent people and don't just try to blow everything up immediately.

OP makes some good points, but I'm afraid if you are looking for the more "in depth" heist experience, then Payday (1&2) is your game.

The best I'm hoping for are side heist missions like in SP ;a couple of different approaches; and maybe an opportunity or two to mess things up/save the day (just like AI crew members could do in SP depending on their stats/performance record).

I even doubt we'll get something similar to SP heists, simply due to the fact it's gonna be hard to get enough players together in the same instanced session for over 30min-1 hour working together without logging off. It might just be like longer missions with a few more scripted events in store, to help with the feeling of it all.

I've looked into payday... however it seems limited as it is not an open world. Part of the thing that makes GTA so great is that the missions are in the expansive free world... so you can execute them however you wish. I've been playing GTA on my PSP because i am bored... the vice city stories and LCS.... even those missions, tho simple, can be approached from many different angles and done many different ways, you use the world as your playground and accomplish the missions as you see fit.

GTA V (I havent played IV very much so dont judge me... V is seemingly my first in depth HD experience in GTA) seems to be the most linear of any GTA in the series... insofar as the story goes.

I've liked doing the missions even since before the 1.06 update. Now plenty more peol=ple are into missions since ith's the quickest way to rank up, and if people are trying to get the RP, then they ususally are serious about being successful, so most of the time things go well.

I don't mic. If I do a couple of missions with someone and their conduct is impressive, I add them to my friends list -- and I've got a nice little list of 'mission buddies' now - whe I don't actually speak to, and who aren't on GTAF here or in my crew but I've got a lot of respect for these guys and I always jump on their mission invites when they come up.

There's not many people around who are 'motivated criminals' like that, incl in my gang.
