Real adverts in Online?

Due to R* possibly losing revenue on cash cards because of the glitchers, can you see them adding real-life advertising to the game? Like in billboards and the radio, or even loading screens?

It could work. I would need to flow with the game though. More subtle than in your face advertising to make it stand out from the game. Would really break the immersion.

Nope because company's aren't really fond of gta with all the killing and stuff.
Hence why car brands refuse to be put in the game, and no it has nothing to do with licences seeing as R* also has midnight club which has real brand cars.

I honestly can't see it. It would destroy the illusion of this pretty damn detailed fictitious world that R* has spent years upon years creating.

I was thinking this before I posted the thread, but there have to be companies out there who can look past all that to get their advertising out to millions of players.

In another thread, someone posted their opinions about why GTA V doesn't use real car brands, and they made a good point about the premise of GTA being of a satirical nature, so using anything 'real' defeats that purpose.

This isn't true dude. I've got a good friend who works over at Jaguar Land Rover, His company paid quite alot of money to get the cars featured in this game. Maybe back in the earlier days of GTA this was the case as the games hadn't reached the popularity it had now. Even though the names are changed and some of the cars are an amalgamation of two or more real life models its still great advertising.

The blind greed of shareholders might defeat that purpose. But, yes, I have to agree that real brands would completely pierce the veil of fictional parody that is the essence of GTA.

Nonetheless, when things get shameless, maybe we will see billboards for cash cards, GTAV T-shirts, and other Rockstar swag.

Yep, I have already bought two Ferrari's and a Lamborghini, based on GTA influences. :colgate::colgate:

i wouldn't mind if, IF, the adverts got into the spirit of the fake ingame ads.

as an example of something like what i mean:

these were real adverts for 'club 18 - 30' holidays, got banned eventually but similar would be fine for GTA ingame.

GrandTheftBatman

I wouldn't mind in-world ads. It would help keep the game afloat and free for us.

The point of the Supercar's advertisement is to build up a hype image of an exclusive vehicle that only few people could ever have. They put out ads to maintain this image, not to get everyone driving a Lambo.

Good point, there are plenty of companies that have ad campaigns with attitude, some of which are actually parodied in GTA. American Apparel, GoDaddy, and many others might think that putting their real ads in a game that actually makes fun of their products, would be so doubly ironic that it would make them seem cooler.

Yeah i honestly would not mind, as long as they were tastefully done in the style of the GTA universe of course.

When they start adding more content, more people will flock towards GTAO, and more cash cards will be sold. Thats how it works.

There's already a bit on the in-game radio (forgot which station) but it talks about buying cash cards

I would enjoy this a little. Far Cry 3 had ads for Fighter when that movie was about to come out and other ads for other stuff too. It was neat blowing up a billboard with a celeb face on it. Made the game feel a little more realistic in its own way.

Yes, they already spam the cash card advert on radio stations.

I AM SORRY ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE VIDEO, BUT MY WEBCAM IS ABSOLUTELY RUBBISH.

Rainbow six vegas 1 and 2 did it among others.

But the advertising billboards in GTA are allready used as part of the game. there funny.

But if it meant getting more content for this game i'd be all for it.
