The Waiting Game

Anyone else find GTA Online to be a waiting game? After the Beach Bum Update I played for three - four days and then it got boring. Now I'm waiting for the next update to provide something new and I'll prob. only play for a short while before putting it down. I feel GTA Online is missing something, I feel they put there eggs into to many baskets and this has led to the things as being average-good and not great. I truly feel if they want to take the next step they need to make everything great for instance COD, Need for Speed, and GTA SA hybrid. I like Rockstar, but there isn't anything in the game that would keep me coming back. I take that back I would play more if the match making was better, I can't find anyone to play missions or jobs with anymore. If the match making was better and put me in a server where there was people in it or took less than 15 mins to put people in my server, I would play more.

Obviously you don't know how to have fun in gta

I want to play the jobs online with people and not dick around in free mode with glitchers. I can't do this cause' there 16 people in free mode and maybe one of them want's to do a job. The others are not interested, because they glitched there way to top and have no need to play the jobs anymore.

Nah, there are so many jobs to do it will keep me occupied for a while. Its generally a fun game to play. I guess I just haven't played it to death yet.

Join a crew with no glitchers that are up for doing Jobs. My crew is down for doing Job after Job after Job. I never get bored playing.

Stop crying like a bitch and simply join a job with other people in other sessions, and simply ignore those in freeroam. Basic stuff mate.

People just dont know how to have fun with this game.... Like what GTA O was supposed to be the next WOW where you can just plug in hours upon hours of time.... like all my RL friends arnt really as big as a nerd as me and dont play too many games multi... especially progressive ones... I think I ahve 1 friend left who hadden't traded in teh game after completeing 100 % and they aint bitching...

They saying "sh*t this was a good ride for 60 bucks... time for the next one" then they go play the next good story....

For all us MMOers or progressive gamers... the dudes who play 1 game for years on end... like I still play games years old because of the online community.... we have to get creative to turn this game into what we want.... We dont have Blizzard shooting out new quests and sh*t for us every other month because we dont pay 15 bucks a month for them to do that. Plus... this game is an action/adventure game NOT an RPG..... so why do you guys want RPG like missions...

I mean heists... ya.. but some of the missions are just as complex and requrie just as much planning as the single player heists... IF NOT ALLOW MORE FREEDOM AS THE SINGLE PLAYER HEISTS WERE INCREDIBLY SCRIPTED

Every time I join with my Level 54 character, I just sell a Baller, get a car for Simeon and that's it.

What exactly is your method of joining a job?

I go to the job I want to join on the map and it puts me in a lobby by myself. I click join and not the host option.

Yeah I used to do that too. Unfortunately there are so many damn jobs out there that the probability of the job you went to actually having other players that decided to pick it is pretty low.

Advice for now, use random job search in the category you want and deal with what you are given. After a while you will play with a lot of people and your contacts will grow. Now when you try and host a job you like, you have a better chance of your invites being accepted as they are sent among like minded players.

At least, this is what I have been doing and I have been getting good games.

I agree with you and with your original post. Well-structured online game environments are complex and subtle things. Not surprisingly, it seems that Rockstar was way unprepared to be able to create such an environment. I'm not even sure that a game like GTA can be structured to support a thriving, persistent, online community with a progressive MMO world to grow in.

Admittedly, I have not spent much time trying, but I find it ridiculous to try to communicate in-world to set up missions with other players. And the several minutes of setup time is just wasted. It's completely wacked and jarring to alternate from a real-time, chaotic virtual world environment to a completely useless waiting screen.

So I think that if GTA0 is to have any hope of success, they should use a web-based out-of-game system to schedule and coordinate jobs among crews and people, which does not take any time out of the in-game environment waiting minutes hoping that maybe a full mission or race will form. This should be part of the so-called Rockstar Games Social Club.

Did I just read that GTAO needs to be more like COD?

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatttt????

Here's my opinion:

GTAO is a GREAT attempt at a Gta mmo, but when I add attempt then it missed the mark. It's really lacking in features and even though they'll come in time it feels incredibly empty. The mission starters on the full map are merely clutter and are completely unused, I know they were mimicking the RDR design but here is feels forced. It needs more to get players on the whole map and not just the city and it needs more features to encourage cooperation.

Just a slice of my opinion but there you go.

I made a topic a while ago to discuss emphasis on mission markers. Because you launch missions from your map, or even from the job selection menu in the menu, there is little motivation to actually travel around the map. The only things to actually do in the main meta map is stuff like buying new weapons and mods, clothes, and car mods. Basically while you do that, you might bump into some spontaneous event like a crate drop or important vehicle.

This is all very well but there needs to be way more stuff to do other than customization, and travelling to actual jobs would be one of those things, it would also be an incentive to buy property next to your favorite job locations. Downside is my point above, there is simply too many jobs so people will just be sitting by themselves.

I agree with you completely. I also was kind o disappointed with the fact that we can buy all clothes at all stores. It would have been useful to have different stores have different items.

I.e. sandy shores having redneck clothes

But that's just nitpicking on my part I suppose.

Good point, I remember walking into a radically different clothes store and finding the exact same gear. At first I was relieved that I wouldn't have to do so much travelling, then I kinda got dissapointed.

To extend my point, basically what I feel GTAO is lacking is immersion with the map itself. I want to feel like when I purchase a new property, I am actually moving into the area, not just acquiring digital storage information for cars. I want to feel like im travelling into a new area, I want to be rewarded for exploring. I spent the first few weeks of GTAO with the radar off for this purpose, to learn the map properly. Might start playing like that again tbh, ignorance is immersion for games like this, isn't that the whole point of games anyway?

Very well put. I agree about the apartments, I had a run down two bedroom I spent more time in/around than my 10 car garage one. They gave us little incentive to care about the world around us... I mean i never expected skyrim but I wanted a more dynamic landscape. I wish that I had a reason to WANT an apartment in Paleto bay but as it stands it would merely be anther location. I also wish that smaller apartments also had planning areas, because I prefer the run down look for my characters "personality".

I also wish that they would have allowed more ability for interior exploration through incentive. I love Chefs lab and I know the bank is for heists but if there was a reason to go it would be great. Say, the hammer is found in Chefs lab or something...

One last thing, with so many open, empty spaces it would be awesome to have incentive to utilize them. I do often, but generally they're empty. A triathlon or dynamic race or yoga or anything that would bring players to the vast wilderness in Free roam would be greatly appreciated... But as the saying goes " que sara sara"

For now what im doing is trying to get bounties (either from players or NPCs) and going to an area that is pretty cool and unexplored, and using those bounties to lure players out of the city and start killing and doing stuff in new areas. I think the game would be way better if most of the players moved to the northern most garages, think how much different the game would be if all the showdowns happened there instead of in the city. Hell I might move there right now just thinking about it, f*ck the city.

Might add some new rules such as no radar, no doing jobs from phone or pause menu, do everything from free roam. I have been doing this with a few locations so far, its pretty fun. Im trying to give it like a month between each safe house.

@jackreacher (awesome movie btw) - That's a great idea, I will incorporate that into my play style. At this point I don't want to move to the country though, only because I don't want to give up my 10 car garage that I grinded (mostly) for. The whole bounty things fits perfectly for me though since I often try for bounties too.

Hopefully we will run into each other.

I got the username from the book actually, used it years ago. It's weird that people now know what it means...

But yeah, I have downsized apartments when I had barely anything to lose to move next to the military base ( don't regret it at all its a cool area).

The cars that I lost though are still on the social club... are you sure we lose them for good? You do lose money from moving around a lot though.

Early adopter, eh? I'll have to read the book, the movie was pretty underrated.

It's funny you mention that garage since I've always liked the one behind that Ammunation, I was ogling it today in fact. Always wanted one just north of sandy shores too, not that there is one, ill have to look.

I have no clue about losing cars... I figured if its not in game it's not there anymore. I hope, for your sake, they are still stored in the cloud. Plus I'm poor due to lack of time to allocate to GTAO, so moving a lot is out for me. I would however spend all my cash on the garage you have if it was 10 car.
