Regardless of the rewards, hitting on Playboy X is the way I would go with. He's just too much of a hotheaded douche to be favored over Dwayne, who is very relatable and likable on the other hand.

I remember killing Dwayne when I was 11 or 12 years old because I thought he was kind of low-life trash without any benefit to Niko.

Later on, I became woke and realized what a douchebag Playboy actually is. I felt really bad for killing the wrong man.

Killing Dwayne is pretty sad, but his attitude is ultimately what WOULD have led to his death. I believe that playboy would be the character that niko would actually kill, but I also feel like playboy had a justified reason to be alive.

It's kind of similar to the Derrick or Francis situation in this way. Derrick is a mess anyway and Francis has more to live for and offers a reward, but Niko would likely be more loyal to Derrick. There's a few other differing factors in there too but you can basically interchange Derrick/Dwayne and Francis/Playboy there. Only Derrick and Francis are worse people imo and have Niko under more pressure so the choice isn't as sad with them.

That's just Roman's attitude.

All the times I played GTA 4, I always killed Playboy X

Dwayne's life used to be wealthy but afterwards ending his prison sentence, he looked depressed and lonely, while X... just a greedy illiterate, hypocrite and hotheaded drug dealer. I always imagined about having more Dwayne missions after killing Playboy, probably to help Dwayne with his current life or something.

I believe it is good letting alive someone loyal and empathic (Niko and Dwayne shares a tough and dark childhood) and having a nice penthouse in uptown Algonquin than letting alive a hypocrite drug dealer (even he pays you) and then no having contact with you anymore.

Back in 2008 I killed Dwayne because I only had 100-something dollars to my name and really wanted that money just to spend it on Perseus clothes.

It's pretty easy for that to happen in IV because weapons and ammo are very expensive and so is dying (10% of your money each time). If you're also spending on taxis, clothes and going out it adds up. I happened to be playing this part earlier and I only had $30,000 at that point. After Three Leaf Clover you're good (as long as you're not totally reckless) but you can easily find yourself short of cash before that big payout,

And people say money is useless in GTA IV! Well, there is no car customization or properties to purchase, but still.

I know right? IV is pretty much the only GTA game (other than TLAD) where I have to think about money and be careful with it both during and after the story, since there's no regular income and no ways to make massive amounts of it or shortcuts like getting collectibles to get free weapons from your safehouse, and the necessities are expensive and dying is crazily expensive. Even the biggest payouts from missions are fairly modest by GTA standards ($250,000...in a game where 8 rockets for your $15,000 rocket launcher costs $40,000). There might not be that many different things to spend it on but just paying for the basics with few ways to earn more means that money is far from "useless", I would award that title to games where you can become a billionaire and/or are gifted almost everything you need.

But yeah I did The Holland Play yesterday, my sister came over so I played both ways for her entertainment - from an outsider's perspective she was disgusted with killing Dwayne and 100% on the kill Playboy side lol. And I saw that if I killed Dwayne it would almost double my money at that point. So I can see that the payout could be a deciding factor in it if you were short of cash and didn't know what would happen next or how much money you'd make later.

I was 11 at the time and spent it all on hospital bills and cab rides.

I'm stayed at Dwayne side.

Not because his good ability, but his story background.

Playboy was too much of a snob, and he had a nice penthouse, so he had to go.

Dwayne easily, the ability to get a bunch of bodyguards is useful even if the bodyguards aren't that good it's nice to have a bunch meat shields at very least.

I always kill playboy x so I can get Claudes outfit and access to the safehouse. Cash is useless in this game so I'd rather just have Dwayne's friendship and backup ability instead.

If Dwayne had the nice safehouse and Claude's outfit then I would've clapped him instead. That was all I cared about and still all I care about.

LOL yep same here. Dwayne is lucky he was the one giving me the safehouse, otherwise it would have been boom-biddy-bye-bye.

Playing it "blind" you wouldn't even know you were getting the safehouse or Dwayne as a friend, you'd have to be really nice and turn down $25,000 from Playboy thinking you'd get no reward just to save Dwayne out of the goodness of your heart. Once you know what you'll get the choice is much more obvious but without knowing that it's more of a moral dilemma.

I think in this case it rewards you for making the "right" choice and punishes you for making the "wrong" one more than with any other decision in the game. New safehouse and friend vs you get the money but Playboy wants nothing to do with you, and it's rubbed in when Niko meets Cherise again and wonders if he should've killed Playboy instead, and when he finds an email from Dwayne asking to be friends after it's too late. Most of the other choices are more ambiguous.

I knew that killing Scumboy would make Dwayne become a friend, since I checked the stats. The choice was obvious.

The way I saw it on my first playthrough it was Dwayne's gang first he was the one who taught playboy the in and outs of the game. He even payed his girlfriends bills after her side nigga ratted him out. Plus it just didn't feel right killing a man who just got out of prison who's staying in a derelict apartment especially since Niko seemed to take a liking to him.

OG Loc is a lot dumber I think. Playboy has an inflated view of himself and is somewhat ignorant (thinking Dubai is in Africa etc) but even if he's not the city's greatest entrepreneur he thinks he is he's still doing well for himself and generally pretty savvy. There's some similarities but he's not just a straight up fool/joke/fantasist like OG Loc.

And PBX isn't annoying. Whenever I heard OG Loc trying to "rap" I wanted to punch my tv.:dontgetit:

I see it more when it comes to Jizzy B to be honest. Both him and Playboy X have similar attitudes, such as pretending to be something bigger than they are, behaving like they're on top of everything they have a connection with.

As for OG Loc, like I've said in some other threads, I find him more similar to Manny. Yeah, they're polar opposites in a way (Manny pretending to be all about the community, while OG Loc tries his best to prove that he's a "real gangsta"), but both share the similarity of trying too hard to be something, but rather show as a bunch of annoying boys who can't be taken seriously.

I decided to listen to this to see if I agree, and wow I forgot how like Manny OG Loc is. He even says "I'm the streets" lmao

I enjoy loading up a save where I can replay the mission and killing Dwayne for the emotional experience of it. Can't see myself actually picking him for real and saving it that way though.

Me neither. Too emotional. Borderline like Franklin killing Michael in ending B. My opinions on endings and outcomes in a nutshell below:

Too happy: ending C, Kill Francis

Just right: ending A, Kill Playboy X, Kill Derrick, Revenge

Too sad: ending B, Kill Dwayne, Deal

TBH, killing Playboy X still isn’t the happiest of outcomes, even though it isn’t near as sad as killing Dwayne. I mean, PBX was still someone whom Dwayne cared about and he was even sad about Niko having to kill him but it was either Dwayne or PBX. You can even tell in the post-mission phone call that Dwayne feels guilty about it even though he’s informed by Niko that PBX wanted him killed first.
