It's another generalization people make about Canadians but actually yes, generally speaking on the whole we tend to be a bit more polite. I've spent enough time working in the US to notice the difference. That's not to say that all of us are polite, or that those who are polite are polite 100% of the time (hence, generalization). Like right now, for example, I'm going to momentarily cast politeness aside to point out that you wouldn't know politeness if it ran up and bit you in the nuts, CrazyRay, as you can't seem to disagree with anyone without being obnoxious about it. So you'll forgive me if I can't help laughing at the idea of you, of all people, criticizing. Secondly, of course I've told racist jokes in past and I will again someday. So? Thirdly, it's no more taboo to spout racist comments in Canada than it is in the US, but my point was that a lot of people who are racist don't go around saying things like, "Hi my name's Paul, and boy do I hate ni**ers!" Trevor is a psycho and indulges in crazy sh*t, but racism is an entirely different ball game, it's an ideology not a personality trait. He likely didn't grow up in a racist household to learn racist beliefs, being Canadian and most Canadians are not prejudiced since Canada is a cultural and racial mosaic. In a lot of dialogue, he'll announce his distaste for racism and racists.. he works with Franklin and Lamar (even saves Lamar) and even defended him from racist police. In a random encounter with a white nationalist who believes America is for whites only he'll show disgust for that mentality. He also shouts Chamerlain Gangster Families in the sawmill mission.. a black gang. People are not all innately racist to some degree, it shows a lack of intelligence, an inability to interact with people of different ethnic groups, or treat them as equals with the same concerns as yourself, this will not help you in life. Generally people want to better themselves, regardless of their ethnicity, they want to raise families, bake bread, sell Iphone covers, Android apps, kebabs, puppets, or ornate garden landscapes, DNA sequencing software, 3D printed bloodcells, perfect bound novels, personal hygiene brushes for your penis etc. If race was such a determining factor of people's individual behaviour, then all members of one ethnic group would be good, and all members of another bad.
