I am one of them "colored folk", and Trevor being racist would not bother me at all. Oh well, guess everyone isn't the same.

 

Anyway, as for the OP, I honestly expected him to be a bit racist, but I guess R* would a crazy ass character who isn't stupid and color blind.

I just don't think he has a reason to be racist. You're not just racist because you're crazy. Just look at his history as a character. He's always worked with different types of people because of his career choices. Who knows what type of people he linked up with for his past criminal career, and we all know it would almost be impossible to avoid quality people of different racial backgrounds in the military.

 

He's not some small town hick who never interacts with blacks. He's probably more well rounded than most when it comes to people, simply because he's been dealing with more than most for all his adult life. And the "I don't give a f*ck" attitude doesn't really apply to racists, because they clearly do care...way too much.

 

Trevor really doesn't give a f*ck when it comes to people, and I'm guessing that would include people of all races.

Also, I don't think it would be wise of Rockstar to make a main character a huge racist. It's someone we have to control and play with for over 40 hours. It could turn off lots of people.

The furthest they'll go is a few light racial jokes but not overboard.

And if you want to make a point-- a generalization without supporting facts is not a good way to go about it... ie Americans are Racist and Canadians aren't or Conservatives are racists and liberals aren't-- you can't prove or disprove this as a person can be racist but not overtly so (a closet racist) or it could be argued that if someone treats another person of a different race/religion/ethnicity differently either in a positive or negative way could be considered racist.... blah blah blah....

Exactly. It would cause too much controversy. Many black people would be offended and eventually the Media would cover it, and so the game might be furthermore banned in other countries. IRL, Trevor would've been fishing bait very quickly had he messed with the meth mafia. You've obviously not heard of Howard Marks. From a working class background in small town Wales, he built a global cannabis empire that included supplying the USA with Afghan hash in the 70s. Surely it's not too much of a stretch to have a Canadian guy who's been involved in major crime in the USA for years to be able to control a bit of meth in a small patch of San Andreas desert?

Sounds like you wan't him to be racist. I don't see anyone whining either and as for Franklin and Trevor... They get on like a house on fire. Have you ever played as Franklin after the game and bothered to hang out together for drinks?

The reality is most patients have no racist thoughts. They are more concerned with the here and now. You may have one of them go manic on you because you didn't give them cookies with their lunch. They don't understand that they are diabetic and you want them to be healthy. They see that 3 people before them got cookies, and that you didn't give them any....so you are a bad person for cheating them. They don't care what color skin the hand that didn't put cookies on their tray has.

 

They are more concerned with your body language and tone of voice than where you are from, what color your eyes and hair are.....etc. If they have other conditions, they may be staring at the hallucinations around you, and not at you at all.

 

And please, don't think the people where I work are there as prisoners, or are there for life. They are not. They came to get help. Many of them are free to leave when their treatment is up.....or when they feel well enough to go back to society. "Crazy" people are just people who have different problems than those of us who are considered normal. They also deal with our "normal" problems in addition to those far beyond their own control.

 

A car accident, head injury, or many other things could have any one of us wake up tomorrow as one of those people.

Racial intolerance shows a lack of intelligence. From Trevor's dialogue during the cut scenes, I get the impression he is the most wordly-wise/imtelligent of the 3 main protagonists. He's just slightly unhinged.

This...I'll admit, in the beginning of the game the vibe I got from Trevor was that he was going to clash with Franklin; but the more I played as Trevor the more I realized that he is just f*cking insane and everyone is the enemy.
