GTA V - is it really that bad?

My problems with V include:

The Money: Money is so useless in this game. Sure its hard to get at first but once you finish the last heist and use the stock market for the assassination missions then you will have so much money with NOTHING to spend it on. The special edition guns and Beach Bum shouldn't be free. They should cost money. All guns should cost the same amount that they do Online.

Activities: Golf is ok, tennis is alright, darts is boring and bowling/pool should of taken its place. Movie theater?? Really I thought this is a video game not a movie. Same can be said about TV. Hunting is a poorly done activity and they should of just had it similar to RDR. I'm counting the Stock market as a activity which is done great but most the people I know said they rather have a casino then that.

Gang Life: They show Franklin's trailer like he's a gang banger and we might get 5-7 missions with him gang banging. In my opinion the gang banging missions are way better then the corrupt government missions we had though out the WHOLE game. The Families know and respect Franklin yet he can't recruit any and attack the ballas. You don't even see them fighting out in the street. I once had a 3 star wanted level and wanted to see if bringing the cops to grove street would have the ballas shoot them. The results were they didn't do NOTHING.

The Map: Los Santos is great city that should of been bigger compared to the countryside. At least the city had things to do around it while Blaine County had nothing but mountains around. Sandy Shores is the only town worth going to. I like Paleto Bay more but there is nothing to do out there. Why can't we rob the same bank again. That would give that town a bigger use. Even put bowling out there.

Cops: Cops are way too aggressive in this game. Just today I'm driving down the highway heading to Paleto Bay and a cop driving on the wrong side of the highway hits me and I get a star for that? How is that right? Next is the helicopter spawning. They spawn right in front of you and have the best view in finding you. How is that fair? Being in the countryside with a 3 star isn't fun.

I won't even talk about story unless you guys want my opinion on that.

I changed the color for those who can't read it.

I can't argue with that, the cops are overpowered and the wanted system just feels overly sensitive for whatever reason.

The problem with V for me is that all it does is look good and have a big map. That is basically the best part yet that is boring because you can't really do anything around the map that you couldn't do in the city.

It's not bad, but it's most overhyped game in history. They simply LIED to us about so many features, and they talked about GTA V like about revolution. Also it's not most ambitious game. It's just GTA IV with new map, story, weapons and cars. That's all.

R* pushed GTA V because they wanted to make sh*tload of money before next generation comes out, this is why GTA V is something like unfinished game. I hope GTA VI will be like old good GTA games, but when I'm watching what R* doing with GTA V and DLC's I'm really worried about future of GTA games, and I think GTA IV is last true GTA game.

RIP Grand Theft Auto 1997-2008.

Well, it does matter, seeing how you can spend your money on all of that, and he's complaining that there's nothing to spend money on.

So, yes, it does matter.

the amount of diversity in activities is rather limited compared to something like Skyrim.

How is that possibly true? Skyrim has the same gameplay throughout the entire game, but GTAVs gameplay changes dramatically with every activity.

Gameplay changes based on whether you want to be a warrior, thief, mage or combination of the above. Each employs a different strategy. I can be a merchant that just wanders around gathering ingredients to make and sell potions if that's how I want to play the game. Which activities are you referring to? Are they a satisfying way to keep playing or are you doing the same things over and over in the same locations?

I guess I wasn't really taking into account the variety you get with your traditional RPG classes/roles/etc and that type of deal. All of that stuff usually adds a tremendous amount of replay value in nearly every good RPG game and the ability to customize your character to such an extent is always fun and nice. But I don't think it's really the same.

What I'm talking about is how in Skyrim, you're generally running around and killing sh*t, be it with a warhammer, a bow and arrow, or sneaking around and stabbing sh*t in the back. And you can mess around with enchanting or potions and all that jazz and it's nice, but, see,

In this game, you're driving cars and shooting sh*t. And playing tennis, and diving with sharks, and flying planes, and golfing, etc etc

All of them contrast each other dramatically. I'm probably not explaining myself very well but you see what I mean?

Official General

So far I am convinced that GTA V is nothing but pile of crap, since people are complaining about it so much. I do not own a console,I own a personal computer and I cannot wait for the release but what I read on the net makes me think that the whole GTA V hype didnt live up to what Rockstar has promised us.

It's definitely not crap. It is still a great game in many ways, and if you are a GTA fan, I'd highly recommend that you play it.

But....it is just not as great and amazing as it was made out to be, in my view.

To be honest, my only complain with the cops are those stupid SUVs. If I ever get killed or end up in a really bad situation, 98.9% of the times is because those stupid SUVs. I can deal with the rest the goverment throws at me.

Yeah, the SUVs are hell, especially with the FIB cops firing at you on the sides.

Once you get 1.5 Billion dollars there really isn't nothing to spend your money on. Who would be a fool and buy every car? What does it really add to the gameplay? With 1.5 Billion dollars the golf course isn't even hard to buy. Once again money is NO problem.

I did upgrade all guns. You don't even need that much money for them same with car upgrades.

No its not its just that people Over hyped it before Release me Included but After completing it for a 2nd time i can honestly say its a very good game is the Storyline Oscar winning? No but it makes up for that with some of the most intense/Diverse missions In Gta History Actually Scratch that gaming history. it does have some missed Opportunities which pulls it back from being the masterpiece it could of been but is it a bad game? NO! 8/10

Well, it does matter, seeing how you can spend your money on all of that, and he's complaining that there's nothing to spend money on.

So, yes, it does matter.

Only a few cars have really good customization options, and for me it doesn't really matter as the handling for cars in unlikable for me anyways. The properties are pathetic excuses to spend money on, they don't add anything to the game to be honest. And I have purchased every gun, maxed every gun out, and covered them all in platinum. So what? I've bought all I've wanted yet I've only spent like $50,000,000 and have billions left over. And in the end, buying everything I "wanted" felt no different than when I first played V. It just lacks something. Yeah, IV lacked ways to spend cash, but V is still kind of bad when it comes to that too.

Just ignore all the trolls blowing everything way out of proportion with complaints. Of course there will be some flaws, just like any game (even San Andreas had many, cough* cough* SA fanboys)

Overall the game is pretty amazing in every way. The mechanics, graphics, fun missions, just overall beautiful world are something you won't wanna miss out on.

This. :^:

While I concede there are a few flaws here and there, the complainers are blowing it way overboard. It's for the most part very trivial stuff like "can't climb ledges", "can't crouch" etc. In my opinion, the only legit thing they have to complain about is the lack of interiors, which is probably my biggest gripe with the game. But everything else the game has to offer more than makes up for it.

The mechanics have been tweaked and improved:

Driving physics: people seem to be split on this. While I hated them at first, they've definitely grown on me, and I think it's the perfect balance between realism and fun.

Shooting mechanics: sorry, but nobody can deny there's been a vast improvement with this aspect.

As for the campaign; yes it's shorter than SA + IV's campaigns, but when you give it a second playthrough and choose different mission options, you see exactly where all that missing stuff went.

My advice? Don't let others whining make your mind up for you, and find out for yourself. I'll think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Geralt of Rivia

Have you bought every property, every vehicle and customized it, every gun and customized it, etc.?

Once you get 1.5 Billion dollars there really isn't nothing to spend your money on. Who would be a fool and buy every car? What does it really add to the gameplay? With 1.5 Billion dollars the golf course isn't even hard to buy. Once again money is NO problem.

I did upgrade all guns. You don't even need that much money for them same with car upgrades.

You ask 'Why?', I say 'Why not?'

Start a new game and try this:

-Only have one weapon for each slot (Only one pistol, one SMG, one shotgun, etc. If you have multiple because of the story, only use the one you pick, and the pick must be final). You can customize all you want.

-No buying armor. This'll make you be more careful and take more time to minimize damage to yourself.

-If you die, you cannot use the character you died with for 10 minutes. For example, if you die as Michael, you cannot use him for 10 minutes, you must use Franklin or Trevor. So, if Michael was the only guy that had a mission, you're now unable to do the mission for 10 minutes. This'll also make you more careful and more aware with combat. Obviously, this doesn't apply when you get to the parts of the story where you're stuck with one character.

-You pick anything else!

Do something similar to the Nuzlocke Challenge with Pokemon. As long as you do it right, it'll be a whole new experience to the game.

Go outside this forum and for the most part the response has been very good. Even the Saints Row forum seems to like this game. I don't know what is up with this forum but from what I hear the same happened when IV was released and now they seem to love it so they will love V again when VI is released if patterns repeat themselves.

It's not a perfect game but it is still a great game and if you like GTA in general chances are you will like this very much. The only real flaws are the lack of vehicle storage, the story could have been longer and it could have used some of old stuff like vigilante missions but for the most part it is a great game and some of the complaints are the worst nitpicking I have ever seen. In any game if you have over a billion dollars it will be hard to lose it. It's hard to spend all that in real life. Also what is so bad about being to afford anything when you want it?

I would certainly suggest you buy it.

Algonquin Assassin

I remember when Mafia II came out and almost every forum I went on trashed the game. It made me feel turned off by it, but then I bit the bullet and decided to buy it anyway. Now it's one of my favourite games of this generation.

Honestly I think anyone who calls GTA V "bad" is giving it an unfair wrap. I know it's their opinion, but just like a lot of the hate GTA IV got I don't think GTA V deserves to be called a bad game.

To me it just does things that are bizarre and don't make a whole lot of sense. IMO I don't think it was worth the wait. I didn't expect it to be the greatest video game ever made, but I did expect it to be the ultimate GTA. For me it isn't.

GTA IV is still the GTA king in my eyes.

Is it that bad?

IMO GTA V is a whore. She says, here is my map, have your fun!

Sometimes I come in after work, turn her on and just have sh*ts and giggle, for example, the other day I stole a Buggati and drove into the coutry, rented out a bike, took it up to the mountain then... well, no spoilers lol.

All I would say is you need at least a 32 inch screen. The rest is up to you.

If you cant have fun on GTA V? Then maybe you should just cut off your penis

I only played the demo of Mafia II, it was alright. Driving and shooting was decent though the entire thing felt somewhat linear compared to other open-world games.

I really only use one gun and that's the carbine rifle. Are the others ones are just useless to me.

Armor? I only bought 3 armors and that's just for f*cking with the police. The missions are so easy that you don't need it. Plus your health regens.

My character never dies unless I just want to f*ck around. This GTA is very easy to keep them alive. Lets go back to GTA III with its crappy aim and I can tell you it wasn't as easy.

I'm on my second playthrough now going for 100% ( I'm already 60% done and not even half way done with the story ). Last one made it up to 90%. I might do one more when ALL DLC comes out and the challenge will be how to get the most amount of money.

GTA V is a fun game (especially when in game with friends). I think alot of people were expecting way too much before the release.

It's not bad at all. It's one of the best games ever made.

Well, no matter what some people will always complain.

When GTA VI releases there will be hundreds of topics about like "it lacks the vibe from V".

Same here. I liked the cop system though. Much better than V's.

If I were you I woudn't pay attention to this forum much... its filled with PC Gamers and whining kids... I've been used other forums and a lot of people praised the game, besides couple of weeks back, some friends came over to my house (they're all pc gamers) and they said the game was insane... so if you wanna know if V is good or not I woudn't look at this forum...

IMO it's great, didn't expect much, got a game that hooked me up for weeks... play it and you'll see what I mean and ignore most of the complains.. some of them are valid but some are just stupid and are written by people who never even played the game...

Remember the Madd Dogg crib glitch where once you saved there, you couldn't play BBall anymore? Just saying.

Anyway, people in GTAforums are like the 5% of the total GTA fanbase? The butthurt whiners here are not representative of the quality of the game. It has minor flaws like all previous GTA, but in general it's probably the best game of this generation. Some people here are obsessing so much with the 3D era GTA's, but what we are asking here is the moon that cannot be had.

Well said. You speak FULL TRUTH. :^:
