Mount Chiliad Mystery Mural Theory - SPOILER ALERTS AHEAD!

SPOILER ALERT!

My Theory:

(The mural is at the top of Mt. Chiliad at the cable car station for those who may not know.)

-R* knew that everyone was going to go to that Mountain right away.

-Fact: On the cable car ride up to the top of Mt. Chiliad, if you are in the Scenic/Cinematic View, you can see the All-Seeing-Eye painted huge in white behind a pine tree.

-The mural tells you that at the top of the mountain is something special. Under the observation deck is the All-Seeing-Eye painted in red. On the rear plank of the deck itself reads the words, "Come back when your story is complete."

-In conjunction with theabove, the mural represents the games story and ultimately 100% completion.

-The 5 red X's represent the 100% Checklist where 5 objectives are required to get 100% Completion. They are:

1) Missions

2) Hobbies/Pastimes

3) Strangers/Freaks

4) Random Events

5) Miscellaneous

I feel this is what those X's represent. Now lets consider the mural's appearance.

-The mural's X's represent the 5 Objectives while the 3 boxes at the bottom represent:

1) A UFO

2) A Cracked Egg

3) A Jetpack

-The UFO is representative of Michael in the essence that Michael has strange "UFO/Alien" encounters in-game & has history with the FIB. The UFO's in the 100% Completion that are visible represent Michael. Two say "FIB" directly on them. A clue/giveaway.

-The Cracked Egg represents Franklin being the new guy, the new birth, and a recipient of the Space Docker vehicle after collecting all of the spaceship parts. I feel that the name "Space DOCKER" means that this vehicle will be used to "Crack The Egg," perhaps by docking with one of the spaceships.

-The Jetpack represents Trevor, in the essence that in order to get it legitimately, Trevor may have to be the one to penetrate Fort Zancudo while in a Rage/Special Ability mode. The jetpack represents Trevor best based on his superior flying skills and that he never recieves a mansion in the game, but he has an airfield. In GTA:SA, the jetpack - once retrieved - was always available at the airstrip for CJ.

-With these representations, we can go further into this theory... Given that Michael represents the UFO and Trevor represents the jet pack, we can look at the mural and see that at the bottom those two are linked together - an imagery metaphor placed to help the player to figure it all out.

-The story starts with Franklin and ends with Franklin. He makes the ultimate decision in the end on whether to kill Michael, kill Trevor, or do neither (the best suitable game choice to keep all three protagonists and complete the murals "story").

-Do you notice, on the mural, that there are lines connecting all of the red X's, the 3 boxes (UFO/EGG/Jet Pack), and the All-Seeing-Eye? Look at the lines. One goes straight from the "Eye" to the Cracked Egg/Franklin. This represents the storyline and the beginning of it all up to the end. You are the "All-Seeing-Eye." At the end, you need to use this as a map when making the final main story decision. The map is read from top to bottom starting at the "Eye" on top...where you probably went right away when you started the game without even doing anything other than the first two conjoined missions.

-If you follow the lines to the left, you'll see on the UFO/Michael side a single line that comes to a dead end. This represents what will happen if you choose to kill Michael. Same with the right side, there is a single dead end line that represents what will happen if you decide to kill Trevor. Incidentally, those dead end lines are equal with each other representing that the decision will happen at one moment in the story where one decision will affect the ultimate outcome. By choosing not to kill either is, according to this sequence, the best choice.

-Now that we know this, I feel that there is a Jetpack without a doubt. I feel it will be Trevors duty to obtain it, and I feel that all 3 protagonists will have to be set-up in the right place at the right time in the world in order for it to be obtained.

-Is it just a coincidence that there are 3 UFO's and 3 Protagonists and they all appear at 3 a.m. on a stormy night (easily seen on the mural)?

(Ignore my other post regarding this. It was incomplete and I hit the "Post Topic" button on my phone on accident.)

I find it interesting that while you did link up the 'egg' 'UFO' and 'jetpack' images to each of the three protagonists, as well as indicating that the images are a deliberate pictorial representation of each of the protagonists' traits and abilities ... you still end up concluding that there is a 'real' jetpack to be found, even though you just underlined the point about Trevor obviously being the 'flying man/aviator'.

And if we're to follow this route regarding the jetpack, what about the 'egg'?

Does the egg hunt not sound interesting to people?

What if it unleashes a laser-shooting dragon?

Its a good theory (though I don't think there is a jetpack).

It's also like pointing out that there were 8 monkey's (I could be wrong, check that out) surrounding Micheal before he was abducted and the infinite 8 serial killer (who only managed 7).

I honestly think it's just R* hinting at the endgame easter egg's being the ufo's.

My theory - there is no jetpack.

My evidence... get ready for this... There simply is no jetpack in the game.

You sure some hacker dweebs wouldn't have found any reference to a 'jetpack' lying around in the code somewhere by now? Come on... They even gave us radio station info and video pulled from the game before it was even released.

There are 8 victims of the Infinity killer, all the bodies were found, I've also seen all of them. The monkey's are also in the Humane Labs mission and the Planet of the Apes spoof in the cinema

franklin has to scramble the chiliad ufo with the spacedocker.

trevor should be at the army base.

michael should be at the hippie camp.

when using the fourth horn sound on the space docker (the clean high pitchy sound)

on the mothership then the other ufo's will be enterable.

I just think they will come down very slow.

the one at the hippie camp beams you up and has the jetpack hidden in it ( just like the dinghy has the scuba gear).

and the zancudo ufo will be flyable and obtainable as a vehicle.

I think that you have to have true 100%.

or doing missions like the "500k" trevor thing.

clear the altruist .

take controle at zancudo.

because thats where the mystery's are.

and I think the blue print is a major key in this process

I mean... you have to do 3 missions, 1 for each characters to unlock it all.

  • 2 months later...

Has anyone tried going to the mural at Mount Chiliad with the space docker car. I've been going through other posts about this and i've been hearing that the space docker car has special lights where it brings up other colors or something similar to that. I would investigate this myself but i don't have the space docker car yet.

But if Trevor is the only one who can find the jetpack, what if he is killed in the ending? That would leave us with no jetpack. I think the mural is just a way to help us see that the UFO can be seen at the top of the mountain at 3 pm, with a storm. Not much else. I think the jetpack drawing was left there to mess with us.

Just like the beeps coming from the underwater hatch was just an easter egg of Roman wanting to go bowling. People need to realize not every "strange thing" is meant to be taken seriously. Its just fun things R* put there to mess with people for a good laugh. They're called easter eggs, ever heard of them?

THERE. IS. NO. JETPACK!!!!!! It would have been found by now, get over it.

We found Jetpack in the files but not the model yet.

We also found the Alien Egg which proves that the big boxes are sort of rewards.

I like the part about the 5 boxes being the 100% completion requirements... that is actually the best explanation of the Xs I have yet to see... 3 UFOs for 3 characters... not bad... the rest I don't really agree with so much but as far as how you presented it, it is more logical than the other theories that are similar...

Personally I believe there WAS a jetpack, but Rockstar ran out of time to make it (and the whole mystery) work right, so they cut it out- hoping to add it later as payed DLC.

Then when they saw that the general consensus was IF that was DLC, everyone would be super pissed for having to pay for something that the Mural implied was already in the game... well, they probably decided to leave it out and let us chase our tails as opposed to fessing up and facing the anger of the players.

They have no obligation to provide this item legally, since it open to interpretation whether it exists or not... and thus whether it is "morally" "right or wrong" it is financially better for them to just sit back and collect the money from sales the mystery is generating as opposed to risking losing future sales and facing a stain on their current "Blockbuster hit" status.

Just think of the negative press that would be generated if it were proved they trolled us with this mystery.

I like the game (as created by the game designers) but due to this crap with the mural, Rockstar (management) has lost all credibility with me as well as any respect I may have had for them.

Some people are talking about the egg, as if it is a hunt to find. What they are missing is the main point here. Each of those symbols is relevant to a character, egg included. The egg isn't searching for something to hatch or an actual egg. The jetpack represents trevor because of his lost dreams of being in the airforce and his aviation abilities. The UFO represents michael because of his interest in the older movies depicting these scenes, his encounters and his involvement with the FIB. And the egg represents Franklin. It represents him as of youth. to the beginning of the story, michael talks to franklin about how new franklin is and how much he can learn from all of this. Towards the end of the campaign we see franklin evolve.. mature somewhat. This is him breaking out of his shell. hatching from the egg if you will.
