My experience/questions about car storage

Sorry if these things have already been answered/confirmed, I suck at searching (especially from wall of texts).

1. I modded cars with Franklin and gave them to Michael and Trevor ("giving" sounds way too easy), but they kept disappearing even after I drove the car to the garage/lot with Michael/Trevor and saved the game right after.

2. I stole a car with Michael and gave it to Trevor. I thought it wouldn't matter because it was just an unmodified car from the street, but that wouldn't stay in the parking lot either.

3. Can I take a car from my garage and go get myself killed in some funny way, and trust that I will get the car back from impound or via some shady respawning? I want to actually use my cars but haven't been sure about the storage issues.

4. I changed to Michael this one time, and noticed that he had his car from the garage next to him. I drove to the garage, and the car was already there, so it was a duplicate. Didn't really mind because it was a Vacca, and even saved properly. Can this be done on purpose?

I also saved a modded Bati 801 Moto in Trevor's garage one time, switched to Franklin, and then switched back to Trevor. Trevor was in the city, drunk, laying on the ground, with the Bati as his "personal vehicle" when it should have been his Bodi. I checked back on the garage, and yeah, same thing, two Bati 801's modded I had...Lol
