San Andreas, the crown jewel of GTA had a lot of things cut too.
Still not as much and/or significant as what was cut from GTA V however.

Every time I play GTA:O, I just think to myself "What the f*ck is this?"

At this point, we can't do much about the epidemic of Online Multiplayer. I, myself have a DM now and again (I'm the guy in the middle of the leaderboard with no friends :( )

Anyway, but yes, I agree with OP that GTA is traditionally a single player game, whereas games like COD can thrive on the multiplayer culture (I will have no part)

Whenever I play single player, I feel pressure to conform to those of us who have joined the Multiplayer revolution, rather than stay with my fellow traditionalists.

I put around 10 hours into GTA:O so far. I'm barely a rank 10 with $30'000 to my name and a not so impressive K/D ratio.

I haven't played GTA IV online, but I'm aware of its simple, jump right in Multiplayer in comparison to GTA V. GTA V places more empathizes on capitalism, grinding, overly complex rankings, microtransactions. It basically gives off a message that only that which has no life can rank up over 30 without glitching or real world trading.

I'm sitting in the lobby, just my rank 10 pride and I see a whole array of different people getting ready to kill eachother. We have those rank 3s and 4s fresh out the tutorial, we have our rank 100s who obviously are either uber glitchers or 30 year old men who'd rather have GTA all nighters than embrace their hot wife under the sheets. We also have our middle ground too with those in the 30s and 40s. In fact, one of my friends claim he saw a rank 1000, although he may have misread it and was actually 100.

Still an impressive feat either way.

As I indicated earlier, GTA Online has progressive unlocking. I thought the game was kind of unfair in general that we low ranks only get pistols and SMGs, whereas the elite get machine guns and snipers. I don't consider myself a n00b, god forbid, but I still believe equal opportunity. Considering the amount of people who autoaim and how the guns work, I think who wins these DMs is more about the hardware than raw skill.

Its great that GTA 5's online is more advanced than the previous incarnations, but sometimes less is more. You tried to fuse an arcade shooter with an MMORPG. I don't think it worked too well.

Im sick of paying for extra content , im sick of all these online feature , which arent in single player . Who else is with me .

. I dont know who else agrees with me but im worried about the future of gta and gaming . and the worst part is im only a teenager . soon it'll be you've beaten one quarter of the story pay 20 bucks for the next quarter .

You are seriously lacking context and don't realise just how much content you are getting for your money ... it wasn't that long ago that games (for the same price mind you) were singleplayer 40-60hrs maximum gameplay and bugger all replay value. Now you get that including years of development on one of the best game engines going around & a whole hosted online world for free & free DLC and the OPTION of further content that you don't have to take

You do need to play a bit more ... DMs are not in the least about hardware, particularly in free aim lobbies. EVERY weapon, including the basic pistol and SMG, will kill with ONE well placed headshot. Strategy and tactics are everything, and fools who stand and blaze away don't last long at all.

The weapons might be the last 5-10% of the equation for a decent player.

That's only because it has for some reason become the norm to buy an unfinished game for the company (usually EA) to then throw patch after patch in the hope of getting it to work.

Games used to be release when they were finished, not when it suited the market.

Believe me when I tell you I have been playing games since my old laser xt witha a 6.2 mhz processor and 640k of memory and this truely FEELS like a unfinished, rushed game, and it's true everytime you google this game it's about upcoming DLC and all for online, come on now Rockstar you couldn't even open the burger shots would it have taken that much more room on the disc.Or maybe that is upcoming DLC.

Dude look at other games.

GTAIV barely feels like a game, more like a shell ...A burnt one.

Halo 4... That already speaks for itself.

CoD ..Well, they add 2 guns and 4 animations to each game ..Other than that it's a tasty copy pasta meal.

Sports games are literally the same every year, with a few more graficks.

I would mention Ride To Hell Retribution ...But let's all forget that.

Crysis 3 added 2 new modes and that bow thing. Still eye candy.

Battlefield 4 is almost like a full priced fix to anything that was bad with 3.

Batman: Arkham Origins is basically Arkham City with a new city (Smaller), a new costume for Batman and about 4 new gadgets.

AC4 is like AC3 with less glitches and less completely terrible naval missions.

And you're all here babbling about no Burger Shot interiors or Casino's?

Jesus f*cking Christ.

Also, when you Google this game... What comes up is reviews, PC version rumors and I think this thing about how violent video games are the anti-christ or whatever.

We're not all saying GTA V is a crap game, hell i'd say it's one of the best games of this generation. When you compare SP with Online and realise how much sh*t the cut from SP and put in Online you have a right to voice your anger. GTA has always been centered on telling a STORY, it's never focused on an online perspective and i don't think it's a good time to start now. When you compare V's story to IV's story there's no way you can say that V had a better story. Sure there was a larger variety of missions and a whole new bunch of gameplay elements but the story gets muddled and at times feels like it's trying to be something that it's not. With the next GTA R* has to go back to basics. They need to really focus on a good story and perhaps focus on one thing at a time. GTA Online is not going to evolve and last like R* expect it to, trust me. People will lose interest. Let's just hope people don't get too pissed of once they work out how much stuff they cut from SP to make it "exclusive DLC" for online. I had a ton of respect for R* and regarded them as the best company and thought GTA was the best series. As I said V is a very impressive game but it's still a bit disappointing. (Disregard anything that doesn't make sense, half asleep.)

i love how people talk about V as it being out for years... the game have being out for barely 2 months, R* still tweaking the game and adding stuff... we just got a FREE dlc, the first in the game and people keep talking and bitching about "all these dlcs"...

other thing is the online. i have been a gamer since i was 5, i have played every console and most important EVERY GTA in the franchise. while i love the single player, the future of gaming is in online, love it, hate it, online is priority now and would get higher priority not only in GTA but every game.

once R* is done with V and stop releasing stuff for it then we can bitch about it, but 'til then i think people should be more patient... from here on, things can only get better.

....says someone with a GTA Online character in the profile picture, you obviously support the downfall of the GTA series. You don't deserve to be here.

Such a noob ... if you haven't played games at 4.77Mhz (or MOS6502 1Mhz) then you have never lived

Although I do actually agree with you, I also think if it had been released as story mode only people would call it complete but fairly boring. Online mode is a stepping stone to nextgen consoles and a full GTA MMO game, and quick frankly it shows.

HEY GUYS DLC SUCKS AMIRITE?

Dude, really? First, the DLC we've got so far was free. No, it wasn't just online.

As said before every single goddamn game has cut content, a game on the scale of GTA V is obviously going to have more cut content.

You're just being a dick about DLCs because...I don't know. ITS FREE, stop saying it'll be paid for little content as it hasn't happened yet.

Also, lots of people barely play SP because of how awesome online is. They aren't going to cater to your f*cking whiney ass, saying SP is so obviously unfinished - have you played...any other game? At all? ven GTA IV? Seriously, as much as you're holding GTA IV up to be, the 'oh so long campaign' was repetitive as hell. Oh, you only want it to be long and not quality? What the sh*t?

And of course extra content needs to be released online you dimwit, they're not just going to forget about it after it's released because it might make you a bit upset that they're giving extra content after the launch.

For free.

Rookies are too unexperienced to do headshots, that's why having all guns for everyone in GTA IV worked so well. I always put myself at a disadvantage by using only a Pistol because even then people had a hard time killing me (low and high ranks alike) so I gave myself a challenge. Now in GTA V, new players are stuck with pistols against high ranks with very low bulletspread assault rifles! Talk about being fair...

If they didn't cut all of that content people found, the game would have been nothing short of a masterpiece. I would like them to release a statement explaining why they did that

It's common for companies nowadays to release broken, unfinished games, cut most of the content out, and make you pay to get it back. I thought I was getting GTA V, but instead I got GTA: Online with a GTA V expansion. Multiplayer is ruining games, if video games nowadays are designed to "take you away from reality", then why is every game pushing you back into it with screaming kids in multiplayer who act like they control you? I will never play multiplayer in games, but apparently that's what most multiplayer games are like, full of those who push others around and blame everything on them, they're always right. I wanted a great single player experience, not some small portion of it. There's multiplayer exclusive activities, vehicles, mechanics, and we can't access them until the PC version comes out, where we will use a trainer to access everything.

DLC is the worst thing to happen to video games, you don't get full games anymore, you have to "pick and pay" for features. Companies nowadays compete over who can announce the most DLC for a game, such as "Oh, we're cutting 95% of our game and releasing the rest through 628 DLC packs for $59.99 each". Then there's the microtransactions... Another way for companies to rip consumers off and grasp their last cent.

To sum it up, single player gamers are being tossed aside, and games are getting smaller and smaller, but getting more and more DLC. This image sums it up:

Your absolutely right ,and it's our fault for buying into it, it's 2013 going on 2014 and the gaming industry is not getting better their getting worse ,some people say there is so much content on the disc that's why they cut , I say BS if you can't fit it on 2 disc's then why not put it on 3 even if they raised the price ,but NO lets cut it into little pieces the idiot's will gladly give us more more for something they already bought.

Not necessarily our fault, for one, I never have and never will support DLC. I don't even buy video games, I refuse to pay a company full price for 25% of a game where 24% is multiplayer content, and the other 75% is cut for DLC. Why can't companies just give us the full game? Why do we have to have 100 different editions from every retailer in existence? Things like that annoy me, you want the most out of a game, yet there's so many editions which each have different bits of content, but are all ridiculously overpriced because it comes in a special "steel case" that ups the price by about 50%. In the end, the company then releases all of the 'exclusive edition' content as DLC to make even more money! You don't even get the promised game, you get some slimmed-down one because companies polish the game for trailers, just to make it look good.

If only we could get others to realise this, because then the gaming industry would have to start making full games again. I'm tired of hearing the word "DLC", those 3 letters are responsible for ruining the gaming industry. That and multiplayer gaming, which is also responsible, companies only attend to the broader market.

Crying thats all people are doing no game is perfect because companies don't seem to bother to try go the extra mile but we have to deal with what we got. You are entitled to your opinion but try and be more original because people are recycling the same complaints over and over and over.

I for one am glad heists did not come out when online did after the mess it was at launch and as for the stuff cut i dont remember them saying it would be in the game at launch nearly all games have dlc and have done the past few years dont pretend you have been in some games black hole and not noticed like it or hate it (i hate it) we have to deal with it as its the norm now.

I think people do realise i sure do i have seen the nasty habit of dlc creep in more and more over the years. But what can you do if i vote with my wallet it would not hurt rockstar or ne other company or if 100 thousand people did it would not make a difference.Try explaining why dlc is bad to someone who has grown up with dlc and they prob wont see that bad side of it they are the future market who in 20 years time will be getting games that prob wont be an hour long and have to keep buying dlc its the future like it or lump it.

Not to mention the free dlc the released for rdr, and the fact that TBoGT, TLAD and undead nightmare were all very good dlc, basically a new short game for less than a COD map pack.

If a game starts cutting too much sh*t I stop supporting it and so do most of my friends. Unfortunately we have sheep that support companies like EA, Volition, Activision and R* is not too far from entering the sh*tlist.

Geralt of Rivia

Better prepare to be attacked by sheeple, your posts are hurting their feelings.

Oh don't worry, I am, I'm pretty much the most hated user on this site because I'm not a conformist and show that I'm different. Oh well...

No, you're infamous because you post retarded bullsh*t that comes straight out of your ass. My god you're delusional.

GTA has always been centered on telling a STORY, it's never focused on an online perspective and i don't think it's a good time to start now.

The ORIGINAL GTA, yes the top down 1997 one....had network multiplayer. And no story.by the way, it wasn't until III that the game gained a story so there were by my count, GTA, GTA 61 and 69, GTA2 without stories.

Yet people seem to forget the original GTA games existed.
