to all those who wear armor

Oh yeah, this thread is ripe for competent and level-headed discussion.

I, myself, often have armor, but remove it from appearing on my character. I didn't spend all that money on tattoos to just cover them up.

It defeats the purpose of wearing good looking clothes and makes you look lame

$500.00 for only one shot's worth of protection, hours of walking around looking silly.

This has bugged me since day one. When I saw the option in the Inventory section I assumed it would be a permanent selection. Nope. Buy new armor, it comes back. Log out and back in, it comes back. Ugh. I've taken to wearing jackets, even though it's hot as blazes in Los Santos some days, just so I don't have to see much of the armor.

the armor bar stays full after you remove it doesn't it?

Yes. The option in the Inventory page is purely visual. Whether you display it or not you still get the, um, "benefit" let's call it? :D That's why I assumed it would be a persistent choice. It's not, which is lame, but seems to be quite low on the priority scale. Understandable, that.

Yes it does. The visual of wearing armour is irrelevant to the protection you get. Buy armour, go to inventory, remove armour, keep blue bar.

1 shot kills you armor? Lol must of been a tank I guess....

My armor take a minimum 4-5 hit before depleting.

As with anything else it's situational. 2 quick shotgun blasts from close distance will deplete your armor and health in an instant. Someone plinking with a pistol from 75 yards will not.

I'm not much bothered by how fast the armor depletes from gunfire. I am bothered by the fact that crashing my bmx, or falling off a ledge, etc., depletes my armor. Non-projectile damage should ignore armor. Doesn't do much good to compare anything in the game to "real life", but that being said I highly doubt a kevlar vest would suffer much from a 3 foot fall off a bicycle.

I eventually figured out that this was the case, but in the meantime, I incorporated the armor into my outfit, as a camisole with a suit jacket, and I'm sticking with it. :)

You could at least get in the fighting spirit and make it a "camo-sole" :p

Who said the purpose is to wear good clothes and look cool?

My character bases his look on the traditional redneck hobo and I find that a bullet proof vest fits the look perfectly. :D

I wear the black one to look like a DEA agent on a drug bust operation..It actually depends on what character look you are going to..
