I'm Getting Sick of Certain Members Trying to Slander the V Forum

Y'know, I was originally going to post this in the 'Grumpy Forumers' thread, but after careful consideration - by which I mean getting on with unleashing my built up wrath on the subject in a more devoted manner - decided to create my own thread. Afterall, this is a GTA forum.

 

It's really starting to get on my f*cking wick when certain members around here feel the pompous desire to needlessly bash and belittle the V forum in order to make them feel better about themselves.

 

Yes, that section holds the current majority of kids and non-desirables of this place as a whole, but guess what...this may come as a surprise to you, but this IS a GTA forum; and with the build up and release of the latest edition of the franchise, is it any wonder the V board attracts that certain demographic?...

 

But what boils my piss the most, is that these pompous, arrogant, snobby individuals completely overlook those of us who contribute to that section with well thought out, constructive, and creative input to that forum, by grouping us together as participating in some kind of "day care centre" or "play pen" or whatever other hilariously creative term they decide to label that section.

 

If you so happen to have zero interest in GTA or anything to contribute to the series, and simply registered to this forum to discuss politics and current global affairs (I still can't wrap my head around such an initial registration), then fine. But could you please leave the snidey remarks about those of us who do love the game at the door, thanks.

 

This isn't aimed at everyone who frequents Gen Chat (I post here often myself), and there are plenty of guys around this section who also have much to contribute to the V forum. But like I said, aimed at certain members who like to put down anybody who enjoys participating in discussion of Rockstars latest title.

The reason so many people bag on the V section is because you open a topic and the first five replies are either "shut the f*ck up OP, there's already a million threads for this", or "lol you moron, this doesn't need its own thread", or something to that effect. There's no way to change behavior like that unless the mods get really strict about what makes acceptable posting in there, or until the guys who do stuff like that get better at forums or get bored and leave. It'll all naturally balance out in a couple years, but until then the section's going to be thought of as an idiot hole, and no amount of ranting can change that.

See, you're taking the same pretentious route that those above are employing.

 

While I agree that the influx of kids have somewhat turned that section into a bit of a feeding farm (though it's calmed down a bit now), there's plenty of guys who joined in these past few months who quite evidently put some effort into trying to keep the place halfway decent, and more importantly - interesting. It just bursts my tyres when those guys are grouped in with the previous mentioned alignments by those who think posting anything GTA-related on a GTA forum is below them.

If you want to come to gen chat and discuss politics or whatever else interests you, that's fine, I enjoy reading that stuff, but I too am just sick of pointless whining about the V forum, it's just annoying. I don't mind the odd joke or whatever, but the constant complaining is - like I already stated - pointless.

Complaining about something is accomplishing nothing, rather than being proactive about fixing the problem, yes I complain of things as well, but when you've been a member for several years, instead of whining about something that's always been the same that you've already whined about before, either ignore it, or go over there and add some good posts to the area and perhaps make a difference.

Having 'certain' in 'certain people' in italics kinda implies that it's not aimed at those who do x, it's aimed at some specific people. Gotta love text conversations.

 

I never said everyone who posts there should be shunned as a whole, I'm assuming you got this from 'at face value it's a crock of sh*t'. At face value, as in, it seems like a crock of sh*t because of just how much sh*t there is, shoulda been obvious when I said 'far too many people' not 'all' and 'it has plenty of good content'. Look, I'll even base it on your cliche: there are lots of bad apples, but that doesn't mean everybody should be shunned.

 

And that last part was actually following on from the above, it wasn't directed (or implied to be directed) at you either; it was agreeing with you. Like my entire post, and all. Was it the 'you'? Because that's perfectly fine, it can be substituted for 'one', which I don't use because of the connection with the Queen. Gotta love text conversations...?

 

If you manage to misunderstand this post, I'm agreeing with you. I could even big bold if I wanted, apparently some people think that's necessary for people who obviously don't properly read and understand posts, and get grouped as having lower intelligence.

I'm not gonna lie, the forums (ESPECIALLY the V section) have gone downhill since the release of GTA V and the flood of newcomers registering, often to complain how bad the game is or just to post random nonsense. Really part of the reason I don't go on the V section that much and really only stay on the modding section.

 

I hate it when "veterans" have to piss on new members, especially when they really do want to post meaningful discussion, but I really can't blame them. There are a lot of bad apples on the V section. I just stay away. Seriously, it's a free for all there.

My problem essentially lies with "certain" members who joined a GTA forum, who feel at liberty to be disgusted by people who want to discuss GTA. It baffles me to say the least.

 

I understand there are members who joined many years ago who have perhaps simply grown out of the series, but still enjoy the community here; that's more than understandable. But don't you remember why you joined this forum in the first place? Regardless of how you feel now, we've all had a shared interest at one point or another. I would like to think anyway.

 

It just annoys me (not to mention confuses me) when "certain" people join a gaming forum to principally discuss politics or current affairs or whatever, while feeling the need to bash those who want to discuss a subject of which that forum was founded upon in the first place.

When I first joined this family, I spent most of my time in the pretty decent V section. Then in July/August that place just went to sh*t because of all the trolling, spam, pointless duplicate topics everywhere, porn, etc. Serious discussions about the game were extremely rare and far outnumbered by topics such as those I've just mentioned. The place was also way too crowded and every topic would only stay on the first page for a minute or two before being pushed down into the abyss of forgotten nothingness. I mean, I would read through a particular thread and by the time I've finished, it would be on page 2 or 3. Every new topic created by mostly new members in the meantime (in a matter of seconds) were all duplicates or pointless spam and douchbaggetry. So I just decided to leave that crazy hellhole and I've been here in gen chat ever since.

 

Even today there is absolutely no reason for me to go back there because I'm a pc gamer and I still don't want people to spoil the game for me. Believe it or not, but I still don't know that much about GTA V.. I've never read a review of the game so I don't really know all the game has to offer. The only stuff I know about the game is what I've read in the previews etc before the game was released, and I intend on keeping it that way until I get my hands on the pc version next year (and I think we can all agree that the pc version will be the definitive version of the game because of the pc's superior superiority )

 

Anyway, I don't know what goes on in the V section anymore these days because I avoid that place.

Best thing to do is report them and then add them your ignore list. They're not going to stop slandering the forum so by ignoring them you at least don't have to see their posts anymore.

You know, saying that there's a great deal of utter sh*t in the V forum (which is a factual statement, why else do you think we need about half the led-by staff on the forum just do deal with that one section?) doesn't preclude there from being decent posters and decent contributors. I don' think I've ever seen anyone claim it's universally awful, just riddled with trolls and spammers.

This time next year the GTA V forum will most likely be dead compared to what it's like now if they decide to make a GTA VI forum. All the trolls and spammers will move into that.

 

It's most likely a never ending cycle when every GTA comes out. The GTA IV forum used to be the same, but after the forum slowed down the trolls and spammers moved into what was then known as "GTA: Next".

I grow annoyed with the V section due to posts like this. And yesterday, a guy said the OP of a thread was wasting his time for typing out a well constructed 7 paragraph post. It takes me like 10 minutes to make a post that long. But apparently typing long posts is typing too much and = no life in that place.

There's nothing wrong with bashing the V forum, the place is pretty f*cking awful. What's wrong, is if people bash literally anyone that goes in there and tar everyone with the same brush. Honestly though, I haven't seen anyone doing that 2nd thing.

The fact of the matter is, both the GTA V and GTA Online forums are sh*tholes. Are there worthwhile posts in them? Yeah, but you really got to dig through a massive amount of sh*t to get to them. And this is coming from a guy who reads there and posts there on occasion.

 

You are completely ignoring the fact that every forum here, was a sh*thole at one point. The IV was a sh*thole when I first joined, and now it's pretty tamed. I'm guessing the San Andreas and Vice City forums where also sh*t holes at one point, just had less active members than compared to the IV and V forums. It's a cycle that happens with every release of info regarding a new GTA game. And this is what us "vets" have witness for years.

 

Plus why else would those forums have such large numbers of staff devoted to them, unless they full of f*cking idiots. And they are full of f*cking idiots. Every single one of us that has been here for years, were f*cking idiots at one point or another. I know I was.
