Hey mikee... we always welcome extra help however i think you are further behind than you thought...

 

We know what .cdrs and .xdrs are now and how to open them... we can also open a lot of other files :p

 

A lot had happened since the first post lol

 

Basically i think we are in far too deep for you to catch up but if you are very determined then i would recommend reading the pages in this topic and following them as closely as you can... PM with any questions you have :)

I might try and leave the whole texture thing for a while and see if I can find anything to do with that Jack Sheepe in game like a grave as mentioned in the video. Dont think someones mentioned trying that yet.

Most editors are fake, I spoke to listener & he said to me that he reckons about 8 months before you see a working compiler released.

Guys, somebody can send me the link for xdr2xtd or how to extract texture on xdr, when I try export textures of weapons it has the normal and the specular maps, but dosn't have the texture of weapon.

Ok @dev... if you google search it and put "gtaforum" at the end of the search, it should come up with the page (of this topic) where it was posted and discussed... PM me if you have no luck and i will find it for you :p

 

@indir... the textures are sometimes kept in .ctd/.xtd files (these are called texture dictionaries) ... the .cdr/.xdr will then take its texture from there... on the other hand, some textures are already inside the .cdr/.xdr... looking at the size of the file quite often tells if it has a texture inside or not, hope that helps... PM me if you have any questions :)

Is there a way to extract weapon sounds from gta v to gta iv? If they are same file types then can somebody post a download link please

@mo... bro, this topic is for mystery hunting and file decoding... please stop with the requests... unless its directly mystery related or how to understand and open files, you should not post in here, sorry man... done enough favors and got nothing in return, so unless you have something to offer i will not be sharing anything.

 

i do have all the sounds extracted though and they are .awc files... if gta4 files are the same, then you would need to change the hashes and rebuild the .awc files... then change which weapon calls for which hash and sound file... if you can code and do all of this, then please turn your attentions to the .xtyps and .xmaps or something lol ;)

Yo, @Tadd You think you can look something in the files about a Grave rather then Michaels? I have read every post on here and I don't think I've heard anything about a grave. Maybe the Grave on top of Mt Josiah? That could be the Grave hording the Jetpack? Well I could be wrong. :/

Ive not come across anything to do with graves apart from in the prologue/north yankton files, will keep an eye out though :)

^ There's also a rather large and conspicuous sarcophagus in Hill Valley Church cemetery, where one of the tracts was located.

If you guys know about this number 328-555-0145 can you please search game files for that soldier? If you dont know about it then let me explain to you. When you call that number guy picks up the phone and says "This is Lietunant Kyle P.Slater Leave the when,where and the how after the tone!" Then hangs up it sounds like hes a hitman but he says hes lietunant this could be cut content for singleplayer like you meet him in a mission (could be a mission in fort zancudo but removed) you call him and he sends army for your help like merryweather but things like this are more likely to be in online than singleplayer because only in online you can call people and menu comes up in top left of screen and you choose what you want and lt kyle p slater could send backup to your location us army to help you could replace merryweather. F rockstar for removing this

It was a cut random encounter wher you had to drive him to FZ and you would get his number. Possibly to hang out with him.

The issue i have with lt kyle slater being cut content is this...

 

Why leave his voice mail and sound files and number and stuff but remove all the dial-a-sub and other stuff... why is only his stuff left??

 

Have R* really been that sloppy when cleaning up old cut content? After what happened with hot coffee??

 

Seems a bit funny to me :/

There is an open grave with a pistol in it and a rusty wheelbarrow beside it in the eastern Pacific Bluffs cemetery.

That's not the only cut stuff still in the game, though. For example, there's audio files that indicate Steve Haines and Dave Norton originally played a larger role in "Cleaning out the Bureau". You were supposed to take them to the FIB building, to follow the janitor (there's audio of Dave reading the janitor's plate number to you). I apologize these aren't uploaded to a better site (and not all in one file... uploaded the first two as I found them, before I stopped to see if there were a bunch more), but Dave telling you the best way inside, Steve's taxpayer line, and the rest of the audio I found. If you have access to the game files, they're in audio_misc.rpf/ss_ff/fbis4.

I do have to give a huge thanks to the folks in this thread, as you were the ones who got me interested in looking at the game files. It's been interesting and while I'm not interested in being a game dev, it helps me appreciate the work that went into the game. :)

Ok, did a search of most of the church cemetery with the river in the middle, haven't found anything yet. I might continue investigating the hangar and see if there's any hints as to where the grave might be located.

As mentioned before, if someone has the time could they check the game files for graves? The only graves I'm seeing are ones saying rest in pieces of "quiet, isn't it?" ;P

@sprue... thanks for the info bro... i heard all those... although i think the mission with the janitor is still in game lol depends how you set things up... im sure i recall waiting with the fib for a car and janitor and then going to his place to jack his clothes... while waiting we look at passing number plates to be sure it is him... and even if it was cut i could excuse them missing it... i cant excuse leaving a whole character behind and the phone number and sounds all working... thanks for the info though bro :)

As for theories to test... not much at the minute... searching mt J for glyphs or around the 2 water silo things near the lost MC camp... post that stuff in the mystery topic though :p

 

And the alien egg is being investigated, our resident geniuses are really busy though so we have to be patient :)

 

Not got xbox myself but im sure some hunters will add you...

The janitor mission is always there ("Cleaning out the Bureau"). It just doesn't involve Steve and Dave beyond the opening cutscene (you ride around with Lester instead and afterwards drive him back to the factory and plan the raid). And I get you. I was actually surprised that he still had audio and such in the files. I was wondering if he was a really late cut from the game. Maybe after the PC version comes out, someone can mod him back into the game. :)

 

And speaking of leaving the phone number and such in, did anyone ever figure out who Edgar is? His number is 611-555-0146, for reference.

 

And thank you for making this thread. :) Inspired me to eventually start digging around in the files. ;-)

The thing is leaving in content from a cut encounter of this nature is totally different from their hot coffee situation. Even if there is enough to even put this mission back when the PC version comes, there's no possibility Rockstar will start recieving lawsuits because of a mission where you drive an army man back to base. I can honestly say this possibility hasn't crossed my mind much. I assume if they were going to cut the mystery then the first thing they would remove would be the mural. Instead they left it in plain sight for us to find.

They could have removed mural and other glyphs in final version but they had to make newer textures of that areas and that would take some time and they left them as decoration. Remember beta version of rockstar games always had better stuff for example more than 100 weapons for gta sa and storing items in any vehicles back was removed from final version and what if they added fully working jetpack classified as airplane as in gta sa and removed it because they thought it would remove game's realism.

*it would RUIN game's realism

I can honestly say this possibility hasn't crossed my mind much. I assume if they were going to cut the mystery then the first thing they would remove would be the mural. Instead they left it in plain sight for us to find.

 

but no one truly knows if the mural is even related to the mystery
