Game File Mystery Hunt...

I couldn't say for 100% certain but it would only make sense it is an interpolation from it's current position to the position passed in via the 3 floats. Otherwise there would have to be a start and an end point. The start point in this case is just inferred to be the current position.

Hmmm... phone call anyone?? :p

Edit... how easy would it be to scramble a phone number in a file? Write it backwards so we just think of it as a useless number we dont need when decoding files... just saying.

Well, now things are getting interesting! Let's hope you find something to it.

There's a lot more to the script that implies the parachuting in is some time after whatever event that triggers it

Is there any way to tell whether this is just part of a cut (or unreleased) mission? Have you identified what ufo.xsc is doing? There's some interesting references in the string table towards the end of the file that don't quite make sense to me.

Hmm... right place, right time, call omega and he parachutes in lol asks to go to the fib building (im thinking hippy camp or chiliad since they are linked to the fib on the ufos and the end point of the mission is near the fib building)

I dunno just some ideas lol

A phone call would fit though imo and i am working with a theory that micheal gets all the ufo stuff but is and option to be killed at the end... same with trevor you can choose to not have him, therefore frank is the only guy you will definitely end up with and his only UFO mission is the big 50 ufo parts (would have thought micheal would be the one to do all that)

Like i say, just saying lol

think omega and frank is a good direction to go in... and since the script is triggered "current position" i would assume a phone call was involved.

Pure speculation though obv.

The IAA building is in this area correct? There is a set of windows over there with a glisten on them. If you shoot them from a chopper 3 of 4 will break. You can then parachute through the unbroken one. Do the mission glitch and get through the wall and roam the floor of the IAA. It is quite a few floors up. Can this be the coord and alt? Sorry to jump in deep on the first post

@YoYo, the Z co-ord on both of them seems quite low, like just above the freeway, but I dont think its as high as as those windows.

That looks like where the flatbed truck that you're supposed to land on spawns for one of Dom's parachute jumps.

If someone said it is at street level, and they said there is a Dom jump there, could that not be the start point, and then during the jump parachute into somewhere?

That looks like where the flatbed truck that you're supposed to land on spawns for one of Dom's parachute jumps.

I don't think this snippet is referencing that for a few reasons:

1. It's taken from Omega's script file, and logic suggests that it probably doesn't contain unrelated missions.

2. It gives a static position, and the flatbed truck in that one mission is a moving target

3. It looks as though it's specifying an action for the game to take rather than something for the player to accomplish (although I could be wrong on this, I don't know enough about the scripting engine to say)

Alright hate to be the bearer of bad news again but launcher_thelastone.xsc has the same exact task_parachute_to_target with the same exact float values too. False alarm I think

While I appreciate the contribution I don't think anyone can do anything with the header files of the XSC except get pointed to the right spots for the string table and the natives table.

Haha @above... awesome mate, thank you for the uplift in spirits...

@reoze... could you check a normal mission for the parachute to target line... its just with the last one being a hidden mission we have no idea if its related to the mystery... just saying mate... it could have that incase you complete 100%, meet the requirements for the hidden omega mission but havent done the last one... then you do the last one and the parachute to target kicks in... if this line is not there for a mission script or random event script (since the last one is more like a random event) then it could be unique to missions after 100% (as doing that last mission, provided you met the requirements could also trigger the parachute to target script...

Also are those coords you found in the omega script in the last one (the ones near fib/iaa building)

So Tadd (And reoze, the man who found the Omega file), I value your opinion just about as much as I do anyone's on this whole thing.

So in your opinion, do we go 100% on this Omega find? Because if you think the lead is good enough, I'll drop what I'm working on now and go straight for working on something for Omega. I tried some tonight, and tried to think it out, but I don't want to go 100% until someone who really knows what their talking about tells me it's a good idea.

Or really, this is to all you file guys. I think you all can give a good insight as to if something is a good lead or not.

Truthfully mate this is a very good find and even ties a lot my thoughts together... BUT this find still needs a bit more research to say if its solid and i wouldnt want to waste your time...

In my honest opinion though... i have always thought franklin should be the one to unlock this (fact he is the only person you deff end up with and also he seems to be the "main" character with 2 strong personalities next to him, guiding him almost... few other reasons also like him not getting high and freaking out singles him out from T and M and also makes him seem like the logical sensible one lol)

And with that being said, i whole heartedly believe omega would be the guy to tie all this together... as i said before micheal has all the ufo/alien type missions yet franklin has omega missions? Also omega understands all this alien ufo business better than anyone... he seems like the only guy who might actually know where the REAL aliens are (since all the others are fib, military or sunken and unusable...

This is just my opinion though mate, i would make frank the character of choice from now on... he is the one who gets the 100% tshirt and only REAL ufo lead (micheals are all dreams and stuff lol)

Anyway, back to files lol PM me if you would like to know more mate.

Yeah I just made post in the other thread saying how this all makes really good sense.

There's a lot of things that if Omega were involved in, would make it more sensible. And that's why this whole idea is becoming one of my favorites we've had over the last few months. It's not random sh*t that is loosely based. It's a very good idea that makes more sense than anything, and we have a file that gives off a pretty good vibe making it seem true.

The only thing holding me back from going full on with this, is when you guys found the box around the sacrifice rock in the altruist camp, meaning there may be a cutscene. In the beginning that looked like the best lead we've ever gotten, but it got disproved within a day. So I'm hoping, there isn't evidence found with this Omega thing that disproves it.

Hmm even if this was all cut missions and stuff by the end of this we should have enough info to maybe even see what the hidden missions was... maybe its like hotcoffee and we have the info but need to mod everything back in lol (either way we are getting there slowly)

The only thing i can say is to keep the altruist rock and omega and frank in mind...

So far we have a movie studio ufo still not explained fully (micheal?)

Hidden omega stuff, like this mission and the subtitles (franklin?)

And some weird collision box on the altruist stone (trevor?)

@reoze, did you notice there's an uncompiled (source) test script in common? Search the filenames list for a file with .sc (not .xsc) extension and you'll find it. Since it's pre compilation and plain text it might shine some light on your script investigation in general

Hi again...

ive got a little thought about the omega mission

what happens when u drive there with franklin in the space docker ? (not a honking at 3am theory LOL)

because when u get the SD omega says see u on the other side and everybody will get in the SD in this moment to find out whaz up with this (alien) car made of junk and scrap

also omega says "i thought i said we see us on the other side" or some kind of this so he is surprised to see u there

the most of people dont drive the DS downtown i think cuz it is more an offroad car and at least everybody is honking the sh*t out of the DS on the chili summit and dont look 4 omega in downtown

onestly i never posted a DS theory and i swear to myself ill never do but this time i think its worth a shot arent it ?

sorry for my bad english

@Tadd, you forgot Ron who is also related with the ufo. He has an hotline for secret seeker.

maybe you haven't read my last post :

in online Trevor missions we can read in the description : Ron is building a Lazer with diamonds to shoot down alien spacecraft, and in another one he use satellite disches to pick up alien communication.

Hey guys can we direct these theories to the decoding topic please, just dont want the place cluttered with theories...

But @above... you make a good point i might have to read through rons subs now lol you got me wondering!!

Regarding the omega extra interaction, there are other methods to verify that.

I assume that in this supposed extra interaction, you interact with omega, meaning there is some dialog.

We can find this dialog pretty easily.

1. We can extract all the audio from awc files with LibertyV (it has awc to wav, works better on ps3)

2. We have all the subtitles in the common language files (there are tools that extract that too, google by extension)

@tadd, I suggest you guys try to verify this angle in the meantime to make things efficient

Yeh thats cool mate gonna grab the omega audio and have a listen also... i found some but not listened to it all as i was busy with other things, will go back over it again though...

Question... does doing a grep search inside these script files and everywhere (despite me not decompiling them in my files) would they pick up on things inside all files types? Say if i grep for coordinates will i get a result with every file that has those coordinates?

Normally coordinates in files (like xmaps or model vertices) are just 3 floats right after the other (x,y,z). So if you grep for this (4x3 = 12 bytes) you will get hits. In the script files, coordinated can also appear as 3 separate pushf commands. Pushf is 0x29 I think, so it will looks like 3 floats separated by the byte 0x29 (5x3 = 15 bytes). So you will have to grep for this to get hits.

I suggest that you grep coordinates from scripts in a different way. Some posts back, I made a php that extracts all the supposed coordinates from scripts using these 2 patterns. You can go over the result pastebin and search for your coordinates there. It will check both cases, and it's plain text (so no need to mess with how to encode floats for your greps)
